for closing? I've been stalking a website I like to order from. They are online only. When you go to their website it says "moving warehouses, should take 30-60 days," but there was no starting date. Nothing on their Facebook since December and they don't let you comment on their posts. I noticed the moving notice sometime in January. Today, their website no longer works. There was another scrapbook/craft company that "moved warehouses," never to be heard from again but I can't remember which one. I really hope they didn't close, but if they did why not just say so? And if it's relevant, I'm talking about Create for Less. With Tuesday Morning closing too, all my favorite secret places to find deals will be gone

I feel like you're right, especially if it's been months since they've posted anything. And I just tried to go to Create for Less and it said website cannot be found. I used to order from them a lot during lockdown but haven't ordered from them in a while.

Oh no! I haven't encountered that as a euphemism. Moving sucks so I can imagine things going wrong partway through and the owner just deciding to cut their losses. But maybe things are just overwhelming, they didn't pay their hosting fees, and they'll pop back up when it all works out. Maybe it's like a home reno - takes 3 times as long and costs twice as much (or vice versa?) as you expected. I'm not familiar with the company but it sucks when anyone has to close.

Per this thread, it appears Authentique oddly & unceremoniously exited the industry under the guise of moving warehouses. While I'm unfamiliar with Create for Less, a search yielded the dreaded 404 error, indicating the website no longer exists. Like you, I prefer companies communicate with customers rather than disappear without issuing at least a basic statement, such as "Company is permanently closing & appreciates your business over the past X years." Note Tuesday Morning is not going out of business. The company is shuttering about half of its existing stores, so ~200 locations will remain after bankruptcy restructuring. Hope you find another source for your scrappy supplies!

Yes, Authentique immediately came to mind when I saw the thread title. The cynical part of me almost wonders if companies use that phrasing to avoid questions/emails from customers. If people think that a company is coming back shortly, they might be less apt to ask about stock, sales etc.
Sad to see another place go under.

I just googled and was able to go to the website but like the others said, it just says they are moving and can't do orders right now, no dates, etc.
I wonder if they would answer an email?

It wouldn’t be the first time that a scrapbook store and/or website used the “moving” excuse while they figured out what to do.
There was a small but really nice LSS in the Dallas area that I discovered soon after moving here. A couple of years later, they said they were moving, and they would let customers know the new location later. It was quite awhile. Eventually their new location turned out to be in a consignment type of store, where the store is large and has a lot of booths with products from different vendors. Basically, the “LSS” has a relatively small space in the consignment shop, with a supply of the more popular brand items. They seemed to be newer releases, but it was a long way for me to drive for so little. Tuesday Morning offered a bigger selection (back then, anyway). I don’t know how well they have done in that location, but no LSS employee was needed, just the consignment store employee to ring up the purchases. I personally think they would have done better with an online store, which is what another Dallas LSS did.
But it was a long time they were in the “moving” process, and I think it was mainly that they didn’t want to close completely, and also hoped to hang on to their customer base so that once they figured out what to do, they would still have some customers left.
Just my two cents, based on what they did. Maybe they aren’t the only ones who hope for a good solution, but eventually go a different direction out of desperation. Maybe.
