It's one of the original ones so a pretty simple sandwich... cutting plate, paper, die, cutting plate. The die has four circles on it of different sizes, and none of them cut all the way through the paper.
I tried a different die (same type, different shape) with the same sandwich and it cuts like it should.
I do have a massive cold, so my brain is not functioning at 100% but can a die just suddenly wear out?
So weird...
ETA: I did run foil and then wax paper through the machine, and that didn't do anything except now I have tiny pieces of foil everywhere. If I use two extra sheets of paper as a shim, it cuts better, but not all the way through every circle.

I haven't come across this happening yet but I guess anything is possible. Do you have the magic mat or another type of metal plate? Try that and see if it works. I have to use that on the more intricate dies.

Try cardstock or perhaps a product box, like cereal, or crackers

I can’t think of any reason a die would suddenly stop cutting if it had worked perfectly fine before. I’m assuming this is a die you’ve used without issue before. If so I would guess that either there’s an issue with the cutting plates being uneven or the die cutter pressure being uneven. But maybe starting fresh when you’re feeling better wouldn’t be a bad idea…?

All my other dies work fine, so I don't think it's the Big Shot. I'm trying to decide if I should just cut circles with my Silhouette from now on, or buy a set of circle punches.

Do other dies cut fine? If not, maybe your Big Shot is having issues?

Have you changed your cutting plates recently? When my dies start not cutting through, I know it’s time to change out the cutting plates. They do get marked up pretty good the more you use them. They also warp.

Quickutz had this issue about a decade ago. It could be a few things--the die could have been manufactured with flaws, the die could have been damaged, the die cutter roller could be warped, or the die cutting plates could be warped. Based on the other dies cutting well, it's probably the die and not the machine.
Some things to try: -run the die through diagonally -run the die through another spot on the die cutter's platform -place packing tape over only the spots that aren't cutting -throw the die into the woods!
I use circle dies probably more than any other dies, so I have a nice set of QK nesting dies that have about 20 dies in the set, from 1/4" to 6". I think the Spellbinder dies are better because the metal ring around the dies is thicker and less prone to warping. However, my QK dies bend back into place easily and still seem to be round; they just don't lay 100% flat.
