The thread about when is it too much really got me thinking. I enjoy the process of scrapbooking but no one looks at them. I have probably 60 albums and we are preparing to downsize our home.
I want to scan most of those books, but I cannot find any recommendations for a true 12x12 scanner that I can use at home.
Does anyone have one to suggest? Or did you find another way to digitize your pages?

I'm in a similar situation. I have about the same number of albums, and it's just too much to deal with. We had to pack for evacuation one time, and figuring out which albums to save was overwhelming.
I looked into having my layouts scanned at a copy shop in my area, and it was about $2 per page. Assuming 20 pages per album and 40 layouts, that would be about $5000 to scan everything.
I opted to photograph my layouts individually and then upload the photos to my computer and back them up on an external drive. It's time consuming and it's not perfect, but it works for me.
I did spend the money to have my old film photo negatives digitized. As long as I have the digital photos, I can create a new layout if anything happens.

The easiest way that I found to digitize my pages is to take a photo from above (make sure you have decent lighting). It doesn’t have to be perfectly straight, but try to avoid casting a shadow onto it. Bring the image into Photoshop Elements, and use the skew crop function to get it to true 12x12. It’s so much easier than scanning my pages used to be (which I had to do in sections, and the stitched pieces sometimes had weird shadows).

You can scan 1/2 the page and then the other 1/2 and stitch them together. That is what I used to do when I posted layouts. I used Arcsoft to stitch them. Just used my regular HP scanner. It is time consuming but doable.
