I have an intersection I frequent with a double right turn lane and I need to be in that left lane once I’ve done my turn so I do RTOR after stopping and if clear. A quick google search says that is legal in Illinois.
But my husband doesn’t like me doing it and sometimes I’m behind others who choose not too so sometimes I’m just stuck until the light changes.

I am guessing my state doesn't have many 2 lane right turns. I can't even think if I have been in that situation. HOWEVER, right outside my work is a left handed turn from a one way street to a one way street, no oncoming traffic. There is no sign saying you can't turn. But I always feel like I'm breaking the law. It's a side street onto a slow'ish street, so not a ton of traffic, not that it makes a difference. One I used almost every day at the Anschutz Medical Campus, East bound Montview turning South onto Fitzsimons Parkway is a double right turn, but I think the instructions state that the inner lane must turn left at the next intersection (can't quite remember).

Only the rightmost lane unless there is no straight across option and then both right lanes can turn right on red. We have a couple of those intersections.

Oh, out here, the horns will honk if someone doesn't make the turn. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) I mean, making a right turn on red is optional. Yet, drivers here think it is mandatory if the coast is clear.

There are a few places I’ve seen locally where there are two right turn lanes, and where that is the case there is signage stating whether it’s allowed or not.

I can think of two intersections near me with two lanes that turn right. In one, there’s a sign directing only the lane closest to the curb to turn right on red, and in another both lanes can turn right on red when able.

I've driven in lots of countries in Europe, I can't think of any that allow a turn on red.

In my state.... Only single turns lanes can turn right on red. The double turn lanes, all have "no right on red" signs posted.

In Washington State, you can turn from both lanes on red.

Yes - here in MI you can turn from both lanes. You can also turn LEFT on red when turning ONTO a one way street. A lot of people don't realize that you can make that left turn on red but when you think about it, it makes perfect sense.

Not allowed in MD. It honestly is incredibly dangerous to do that and I don't see why that is allowed at all.

I voted only in the lane closest to the curb. Unless there is a sign that says "no turn on red", I'm turning. ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)
