Is there something specific that you try to collect during your travels?
I love pottery. While not always easy to get home, I try to buy some piece of local pottery from Countries, States, or just interesting places that I travel to.
What is your favorite type of souvenir, if you have one?

Coffee beans! I love searching out coffee shops to get locally roasted beans. A plus side is there's no indefinite storage solution to maintain (or dust!).

I am not much of a collector. I do like to get a photo of myself with a sign, indicating where I am. Whatever town-city, whichever tourist attraction, wherever the place....covered bridge, dessert cafe, beach, etc...

I used to collect magnets but got tired of them on my fridge after a while. I really donʻt collect anything anymore. I do sort of regret not having collected a Christmas ornament from each city.

I have a wad of keychains... its probably 2 feet long but its in bunches... like 1 trip could get 5 or 6 keychains.. depending on where we go...
I love it... keychains are cheap n evey place has them... ive been collecting them since i was a teen...
I like flipping thru them.. brings back memories of places ive been and who i was with.. a smile to my face every time..
Easier then magnets or shot glasses

DH and I always buy a Christmas ornament on our travels to remind us of where we've been. The only guideline is it needs to be something that represents where we were. We have a specific Christmas tree that we decorate with our ornaments.

We also do ornaments. Now the kids even bring me ornaments from the places they travel.

Christmas ornament. I have a few 5x7 and 8x10 pieces of art, they are in a collage in my office. I have a few magnets and keychains but only for function not to just keep adding to. I love pottery also but find if you are in the touristy area that things are way overpriced.

Bookmarks. They are inexpensive and don’t take up a lot of space in my luggage or at home. I keep them in a shallow wood bowl.

We have lots of magnets from our travels. Our fridge doesn't hold them though. I have many of them on our garage fridge. They make me smile.
I also have some pottery and plenty of t-shirts. Oh, one year on a trip to Hawaii, we brought home a kid. Pretty expensive souvenir.
Now I tend to get stickers for the kayak.

I just like to buy a few sticker to put in my journal. That’s it. Some times something catches my eye, but there is nothing else I collect.

We bring home a magnet and display them on the fridge at our cabin. We try to find the tackiest one available.
On bigger trips, I've started getting some kind of small piece of local art.

My favorite souvenir is pressed pennies. Every time I see one of those machines I always scrounge for the right combination of coins to make one! At some point I think I’ll make them into a charm bracelet.

I'm so glad I heard about ornaments early! It's the absolute easiest souvenir that you don't have to love, but can reminiscent about your trip once a year. We have done it for decades and are biggest issue is a few have broke and it made us sad! Once in a while we'll buy a more substantial souvenir, but I love that we have to actually LOVE it - and we're not just trying to buy something. So we have a hodgepodge of things that actually moved us - but most of the time we're happy with our ornament.

ornaments - and they aren't always designed as ornaments but so long as they can hang on the tree, that's okay

Ornaments for me as well, especially ones that are handmade by local artisans. My two favorites are a snowflake made with salt from the Great Salt Lake and a clay sphere carved with petroglyphs made by a Navajo artist.

We have a “travel wall” so we try and find a plaque or sign of where we visit and then hang it on the wall. Sometimes it’s a small postcard that I frame or a ceramic plaque. We have found some unique items. I also get a shot glass, I have sooooo many of those, I’m still trying to figure out how to display them.

Maybe a Christmas tree ornament. But, generally nothing.

We are Christmas tree ornament souvenir collectors. Our tree has always been eclectic so the travel ornaments add to the chaos.

My grandparents took me traveling at a young age. They bought me a silver charm for every state we were in. I still have it over 70 years later. I have added to it over the years.

We like to get an ornament, but sometimes get something different (or in addition to), especially if it's something iconic to the area. For items we buy together, we mostly limit ourselves to one or two things from each area/city, but they have to be special. We like finding unique things!
We often get something personal for ourselves as well: DH wears a lot of t-shirts so he will usually get a shirt with something unique about the area, while I'll get earrings/jewelry representative of the area/city or sometimes a hoodie if we're traveling to a place where luggage space is not an issue. We kept things small on our cruises and other European trips. We take a ton of pictures too, so that adds to the memories of a place.

We also buy ornaments, or occasionally other decorations. I have a wonderfully touristy Christmas themed set of matryoshka from Russia which I love pulling out each year.

We got married 3 days before Christmas and started collecting Christmas ornaments on our honeymoon. I also try and find a sterling silver charm for my travel charm bracelet. DH normally looks for a t-shirt. But he also does that on days that end in y so that doesn’t really count.
In the past we’ve done shot glasses and would occasionally grab a print to have framed or other decoration but we’re not ‘stuff’ people for the most part so we’ve cut down on that.

I try to stop in a local yarn store and buy some custom dyed yarn for a vacation shawl.

Mostly pictures. Sometimes ornaments or a piece of pottery. I bought Nick a leather key chain that has these round token charm things that we can order for destinations to add to it.

I began collecting souvenir tea towels when I was in London in 1986 as a 19 year old ... I am not well traveled so I don't have a huge collection but I was lucky that my late MIL brought me one from Provence, France and dd#1 brought me one from Switzerland that she got on a school trip!

Photos, always, but Christmas ornament is a top priority. If we can't find one, I'll make something after. They go on our big Christmas tree and we love to reminisce. DH and I inadvertently started the tradition when we moved in together.

Generally Christmas ornaments and preferably ones that are handmade. But it depends on the country too. In France, I search out vintage and antique tastevins. On trips to African countries, I’ve picked up various table linens of kente or kitenge and really enjoy setting tables reminiscent of our travels.
