Just downloaded Kelly Bangs latest printable collection and it occurred to me that I'm not backing any of these files up, which is doubtless really clueless.
How do you back-up your printables?

I treat them the same as all my other digital files, and have them backed up on an external hard drive.

Same as above. I back up digital files the same way I do my photos. External HD and cloud back up.

external hard drive (although I'll admit to being behind on backing up to it- adding that to my to-do list) and automatic backup to the cloud via Carbonite

That's great, thanks so much everyone. I need to make a note to get on with this and not just assume that my Mac will go on forever x

EHD for me, too. I don't think it's necessary to use cloud storage for printables or digi scrap items. I save cloud storage for for photos only.

I feel like a broken record because I've said this so many times, but please everyone....... do NOT trust external hard drives! They do not last forever. I lost almost a whole year's worth of Project Life (digital) pages when my hard drive crashed. I have now had four or five (I've lost count!) EHDs die over the years. Luckily I had my photos backed up on DVDs and a second EHD, and was able to upload them to my iCloud account before that EHD died. I have one EHD left, and it only works for 5 minutes at a time before crashing.
Now I pay $14.99 per month for 2TB iCloud storage, and IMO it is worth every cent for the peace of mind.
Don't trust EHDs with important files and photos!

I should have mentioned that I'm a digital scrapper, so safe and effective storage is imperative. If I stored my digital kits on an EHD that subsequently died, I would lose many thousands of dollars worth of product. It would be the same as if you lost all your paper products to water damage or similar.

I had NO IDEA they could crash and pretty much lost my MFA. Now I have the cloud for photos. I think this is a great reminder to back up my digital purchases like layered templates. I am not very good at remembering. But I don't have much invested in digital files just yet. I'm pretty new to it. All my AE stuff is still on her site and I can download again (I think). I don't want to lose my IACB stuff though because you don't log in to her site, you just download. So I think once it's gone, it's gone.

Don't trust EHDs with important files and photos! I understand and appreciate your PSA. I'm spending my storage $$ and space for photos and completed pages. (I'm a digi scrapper too) Digi kits are not worth it to me to save in the cloud. I can always purchase new kits. And I have several EHD's and one at my parents house. I did have a scare when the on/off button on my laptop broke and I couldn't turn it on. I bought an EHD enclosure and took the HD out of my laptop and was able to access the data. Whew!

I agree with you for sure, photos and videos are my top priority, then completed pages. But there is no way I could afford to replace my kits, I have way too many. Luckily I don't have to worry about choosing, I pay for 2TB iCloud storage, which isn't quite half full. When I start running out of space, I will delete the PSD copies of my layouts and only keep the JPG copy. And I could also move some of my least favourite or unused kits to an EHD and run the risk of losing them eventually.

There are lots of really great responses here but throwing in another I haven't seen yet - I've created separate Google accounts for Patreon downloads and the like; provides 15 GB free (hence the multiple accounts for each creator I follow... )

Really, it’s best to have some redundancy because any individual method can fail. I have my photos and kits on my laptop, on 2 EHDs and on the cloud. That way, if one fails or if I have a disaster strike at home, I’ve got it somewhere.
