I'm starting this thread because I think we need a seperate thread from American Survivor and I've talked enough about AU Survivor on the American thread. Cadoodlebug suggested we start a seperate thread and I think it's a great idea. I myself had considered it already after feeling guilty for constantly singing the praises of AU Survivor.
So, comments, thoughts, questions? Anything you wish to discuss?
I'll start...someone already asked on the other thread and it's a question that's been driving me bonkers too. Has anyone been able to find episode 18 of Villians vs. Heros? I've been looking for days and still haven't seen it. Last night I found episode 19 so I just gave up and watched that.

OMG I HATE George. He's the Russell Hantz of Australia...he may well get to the end, but I don't think he'll ever win.
I couldn't watch the first season he was on at all after the first 2 episodes he grated on my nerves so much I stopped watching.
This time they didn't focus on him so much at the start and I was able to keep going, but when he starts with the Kind George shit, I want to reach through the TV and smack that blank look off his face.

Thank you birukitty for starting this thread. I'm so obsessed with this show right now. I keep telling people to watch and finally got my ds to give it a go, but he's still at the beginning. I never did find episode 18 so I moved on as well. But rachelcutter, I'll look on your link and see if I can get it there. I know I've fallen for a show when I end up listening/watching podcasts to rehash episodes. I do think this is a fun (& short) Youtube by Rob Has a Podcast as he discusses why Australian Survivor is much better than the current US version. Great comments below it as well. I've tried to avoid any kind of spoilers while watching because it is just so fun to see how this is unfolding. I just finished episode 20 so will hide some of my comments on this episode. I didn't like the twist they had at the end until it was revealed that Nina would have been sent home and now I'm hopeful that some of the players get a backbone and go for George's throat. I just don't understand why they can't get a group to blow up the game. George is in an alliance with 4 other people, do they not think that he won't cut them loose when he doesn't need them anymore? I think they keep kicking the can down the road, but there is not much time for any of them. Other than Simon who played due to circumstance, the other 4 have played about the same and are not standing out from each other. I had hope that Liz would step into the game, but I'm realizing that Shonee really propped her up as a player.
I do think the twist made Matt's immunity kind of a waste as well. What was the point?
Overall, I'm not like the twists at tribal counsels, there's enough drama without that interference. pjaye - I love George! I mean I want to muzzle him and vote him off, but truly I can appreciate a good villain. On the first half dozen episodes, every time he would sneak his way into a group, it made me shudder he was such a creeper, but after that one particular episode, I kind of liked his evil genius. I think he definitely can win, I don't see anyone being able to stand up to him in the final 3. And I've caught some of the post elimination clips and everyone in the jury is acknowledging that he's really playing the game. |

If you're watching this one, then you already know that he didn't win his last season...he only got 2 out of 9 votes at final TC and he dominated that season too. I actually really hate watching players like him, but a lot of people like it so they keep putting those personalities on. I think the only person George can win against if it's final 2 is Gerry...because he's literally sat around and done nothing in the game. |

I always use ad-blockers on my browser and have not had any problem watching the episodes. In the future I will think twice before helping someone to avoid the "handslap" so many "peas" like to give. |

Where can I watch AU Survivor? Hulu? I'm watching the current season Villians vs. Heros on Youtube. Look for Australian Survivor and then Macy76. That will bring up this current season with all of the episodes in order-except for episode 18-still haven't figured out whatever happened to that episode. If you look up just Australian Survivor it will bring up a lot of episodes and also other videos like Jury Villa videos. Those are such fun to watch. It's what happens when each person gets voted out once they make the jury. |

I haven't watched episode 20 yet but will do so tonight. Correction-I actually had, but didn't realize it.
My thoughts on George-yeah he drives me bonkers too! I can't stand his voice (but he can't help that) and I really can't stand when he starts talking about him being a King, his kingdom etc. But, and this is a big but...he is an exceptional player and I have to give him credit for that. He's willing to call Haley the Queen giving her credit and I like that. He said he was willing to take Haley to final two so that the two best players could duke it out, until she turned on him-who knows if that is true-but she did stay in the game a lot longer than I thought she would for a returning winner.
And what the hell is it with all of the other players? They've had over 40 days to vote his butt out and they haven't done it. Over and over again they've had the chance at tribal council, over and over again I've said out loud to the TV "please vote George out tonight" and it never happens. That's on them. They know what a dangerous player he is and they've left him in the game. At this point I think he deserves to win.
On episode 19, make that episode 20, not 19, I saw a small glimmer of hope when Simon pointed out to Matt and Gerry that their resumes thus far only included riding the coattails of George. Voting whichever way he told them to. Same thing with Shanee and Liz but Liz didn't want to hear it. In fact, Liz and Shawnee reminded me so much of Boston Rob's "dumb girl" alliance when on one of his season's he latched onto two young girls and they did whatever he told them to. Liz and Swanee didn't make a move without checking in with George, even when it came to Shawnee wanting to save Flick at that tribal. They whispered to George that they were going to use Shawnee's idol to save Flick instead of just keeping to to themselves and doing it. They couldn't make a move on their own without George's approval-that was maddening to me! They could have done it behind his back and voted George out.
Anyway Matt heard what Simon was saying about Matt and Gerry riding George's coattails loud and clear. Gerry didn't hear it either or wasn't willing to acknowledge it. And then when Matt said he wanted to vote for George I thought, "please let this be it" But nope, once again my hopes were crashed. Instead everyone voted for Nina and Nina voted for Gerry. What the hell! Like I said earlier, at this point I think George deserves to win. He has the best game strategically and socially. No one else even comes close.
BTW, "dumb girl alliance" was what Boston Rob called it. I would never call it that.

pjaye I've really changed my mind on George this season. I couldn't stand him in Brain V Brawn early on but he was like a cat with 9 lives and I had to respect his game in making it to the end. I think last time I was very focused on Hayley as she is a Mildura girl and I know her cousin/Aunty that I wanted her to win so much. This time around I've warmed to him - not my cup of tea but far out he has played a great game. His forward thinking a few moves ahead has been genius. I'd much rather him win than someone like Matt or Gerry because they are "nice" but they have done sweet FA as game players.

Who the heck turned me on to this? Absolutely love it- I’m on episode 4 and don’t want to spoil it for myself so I’m not reading the rest if he thread. I wish we could see the rest of the seasons in the US.
I thought the most hilarious scene was when the girls in the hero tribe and the guy- forgot his name- were talking about the men in the water being a “meat pack” and describing which kind of surf or turf each one was.
It’s just what I need to occupy me during spring break in northern Wisconsin.

I wish we could see the rest of the seasons in the US. Check out the site that was linked just above. They have other seasons. I've watched all the current season episodes that we have so far, so I've started on whatever season is the earliest of what's offered on that site. |

So glad to find some more Australian Survivor fans. I freaking love their version! I love that it is so much longer. That said, what the heck are these lazy people doing over there idolizing George and just letting him get all the way to the end. They have had so many opportunities to vote him off. They will not win if they go to the end with him so why are they just coasting along. The last few episodes have been so boring. I hope something exciting happens to shake things up!

Him saying he'll be Ok with wherever he finishes in the game because he he's made such good friends  He wants to take Gerry to the end and then he's going to eviscerate his game play as being someone who rode his coat-tails and didn't make a single decision. The last 3 or 4 TC they didn't even need to be sneaky, they could have all sat there and said out loud they were voting for George and then gone ahead with it...and there's nothing he could have done about it. If I was one of the last 2 voted out...I'd be tempted to vote for George out of annoyance that the others were too dumb to get rid of him. |

I agree with the rest of you. Another way to look at it though is that I think what's going on, is that the other players (except George of course) are betting on George's complete inability to win challenges, and that he won't win the final immunity challenge. If that happens whoever does win will be in control of who to take to the end and they won't take George. If Matt wins and he's smart he won't take George. George gets voted out and Matt has a much better chance of winning at the end. If LIz wins the final immunity challenge same thing. If Gerry wins the final immunity challenge all bets are off-I can't predict what he'll do. And if a miracle happens and George wins that final immunity challenge-well then of course he wins the game.
I think Matt and Liz have ridden (rode?) George's coat tails all the way through the game and have decided to just hang on until the very end betting on the above panning out. Whoever wins that final immunity challenge out of the two of them can point to their challenge wins (they've each won 3 so far) as their resume. As far as I know Gerry hasn't won any so they'll take him to the end-he's easier to beat.
I have been hoping and waiting for them to vote George out since the game began. Why some of them didn't get together and do it before the merge baffles me. I don't like him or his way of playing the game, but I must admit he's a brilliant strategist. This season, as much as I love Australian Survivor, has been a bit boring to me because it has become the George show. I'm really excited for next season which I've heard rumoured is to be all new players. I'd love to never see George play again personally.
I thought Nina played well but too quietly. At the end she really came into her own and her strategic mind showed much more. I'd have liked to have seen much more of her playing like that. I'd like to see her play again, especially because she was injured and forced out of the game her first time out.
Can't wait until Sunday!

Checking in and trying to find out when the last episode will drop for us USA fans on Youtube. I thought it would be tonight. I'm staying away from facebook because I don't want the ending to be spoiled for me inadvertently.
Update: Just checked and the last episode is up on shvideos.net. I'm guess it'll be on later on youtube tonight. I'm going to wait and watch it on youtube because I'd much rather watch it on my big screen TV.

Since I'm waiting I thought I'd discuss last night's episode-episode 23. What did you all think?
Personally I did not like the twist at all-the twist where the final four voted out a member of the jury instead of one of the final four. I think if you get on the jury you've earned that spot and should have a chance to decide who is the sole survivor. Now it's going to be a final three instead of a final two. I'm glad it wasn't Simon that got voted out and instead it was Shawnee, and for the first time in the game George didn't get what he wanted! Matt made a great choice and I was shocked to the core that Gerry finally found his balls and voted the way he wanted and not the way George told him to. Although it was maddening that he turned to George and asked him, "Do you mind if we agree to disagree on this one?" before he went up to vote. I mean seriously Gerry! The George changed his vote to Shawnee anyway instead of Simon.
Liz is one pissed off woman now. Honestly I'm very much hoping that if Matt or Liz wins the final immunity challenge (which is the most likely) that they will somehow vote George out of the final 3. If he stays in, he wins. It's as simple as that. Gerry has got to see that but I think the man has blinders on. I get that he wants to play with honesty and integrity, but at the same time it's a game. Gerry talked about how the pandemic ruined his tourist flight business and how he wants to win the money for his family-that makes a lot of sense. I get that. But what Gerry has to understand is unless he votes George out he doesn't have a chance in hell of winning.
I admire George's strategy, but I don't like his constant crowing, talking about himself in the 3rd person, and how he calls himself the King. He irritates the hell out of me. Right now I'm rooting for Matt to win.

I didn't like the jury vote off twist either. Shonee deserved that spot and to have a say in the winner, I would have been pissed off if I was her. I was happy with the outcome. As much as George was annoying, you can't dispute that he played an excellent strategic game and should have been voted off way sooner.
Once he was gone I was really hoping for a Liz win. Matt and Gerry didn't really do anything and their final tribal speeches did nothing to make the jury vote for them.
All in all, a fantastic season. |

I read that the finale, like episode 18, will not be on YouTube because they were both copywrited ( or some word like that- I’m too lazy to look it up). The YouTuber put it up this morning and it was taken down 7 minutes later.
I did read who won though and am okay with it.
A friend I told about it HATED George ( I thought about you, @pjayem and everyone else in this thread, I guess!), but I thought he was so over the top that he was funny.
I’ll figure out a way to watch the other seasons and am glad you guys turned me on to this- thanks.
Edited to add that I just noticed that everyone here hated George except me.

No spoilers from me - so it's OK to read on....
but I did want to add that I hope I never have to hear George's self absorbed monotone voice ever again.
I don't find a single thing about him funny and I also don't like his game play. I'm OK with people lying & cheating etc while they are playing the game, but he's just a next level con man & manipulator, no wonder he chose politics as a profession.
I'll disputing he played a great game - he got lucky a few times with idols etc, but also got lucky that there were a few wimps (Gerry) who had no idea what they were doing out there and clung onto him and protected him.
Not a season I enjoyed overall, if anyone wants to watch past ones - the 2 seasons of "Champions vs Contenders" are both are excellent (and neither one has a George!)

I still say he's the same as Russell Hantz, a shit person who manages to lie & bully his way to the end, aided by other weak players, or occasionally a strong player who uses him as a shield and knows that he won't get enough votes at the end...that's what Sandra did with Hantz. |
