I went to the Stamp & Scrapbook Expo Friday 3/17 so I thought I'd do a review. The Expo was here in October so we didn't have to wait an entire year
My friend and I arrived around 9:30 and were able to walk right in - no real entrance lines since the floor opened at 9. We did sign up for one class (I'll review that as well) so our show floor entrance was free since we were doing a class. We did not attend the crop but it looked like there were a lot of tables set up!
We saw a couple of vendors that were not there in October. There were 27 total vendors (one was a massage pillow vendor) but the rest were all craft/stamp/scrapbook vendors. Most of the regular vendors were there (Photoplay, Tall Mouse, Echo Park, Rubbernecker, Eyelet Outlet). Bee Creative came back this year. We also saw a few new vendors.
A new vendor that I loved was Pear Blossom Press. She had some really amazing light-up cards and sells the lights (EZ Lights and the One light) that make it super simple to do a light up card. We did her make & take which was $5 and made a birthday card where the candle lights up. It was so easy and fun! If you make card & would like to check her out her site is pearblossompress.com/shop/ She has YouTube videos as well where she demonstrates how to use them. I've seen light up cards using Chibitronics but the Pear Blossom Press lights make it super simple to incorporate them.
The one class we took was the Chalk Couture class $35. My friend really wanted to take this class so I agreed to take it as well. I hadn't ever used their products (stencils and paint/paste - mostly for home decor, etc) so I thought it was fun to try a new technique. We used the products to decorate journal covers. The class was very simple to do & I got a cute journal from it. I did not end up buying any additional product as it wasn't really my thing. My friend bought several of their stencils but she likes using them to make shirts, signs, etc.
We stayed at the event this time until about 3:30 which was a lot more time than we spent in October (we only stayed about 2 1/2 hours in Oct.)
Several vendors have gone up in their pricing. Photoplay's paper packs are now 4 for $24 (versus $20 in Oct) and Echo Park was 4 for $28 (versus $25 in Oct).
I ended up with some 49th & Market paper packs, a few layering stencils and stamp/die combos from Photoplay, lots of adhesive, and other random goodies (embossing folder, stamps, dies, loose scrapbook paper, etc).
I took $200 cash and came back with $20 so I stayed within my budget
I think KikiPea went on Saturday so would love to hear her feedback as well!
