I don’t want to hijack the Bay Area thread, so how is everyone holding up with the new storm?
It rained until about noon, a few hours of sunshine, and now the 2nd wave is coming in. We are supposed to get about 2” before this one is done. That is a lot for us in a short period.
Our roads though are a mess! The westbound side of one freeway is shut down due to sinking land. When they finish that side, they have to close the other side. All the side roads in that area are just jammed pack, and other roads too as people find alternative routes. And the closure is close to a major interchange. We also have so many potholes now. Lot of people complaining about car damage.
Stay safe and dry!

I was just telling my dad that it's raining so hard that I'm waiting for my patio cover to come crashing down! I have a metal/tin patio cover specifically because I love to lay in bed and listen to the rain but damn this winter it's been soooooo loud!

Light rain early morning. Then wind. Then heavy like hheeaavvyyyy rain and wind. Then sun. Then wind. Then hail. Then heavy rain. Then sun. Now back to super heavy rain and wind.
Thunder storms are in the forecast tonight.
Areas of the IE are under evacuations (was a warning but I think it moved to get out). Oak Glen near me has been hit hard, especially potato canyon.
18 has rock slides and is closed and I think it's the 330 that has buckling and is closed.
Local mountains are getting more snow and they are still trying to dig out from the blizzard we had.
I am sooooooo ready for dry, warm weather!!

It’s been absolutely pouring. It stopped around noon then started a few hours ago. I know one of the back roads that people use to bypass the 15 had a boulder blocking one lane - it’s a 2 lane curvy road and it was right before a curve. I didn’t hear of any crashes on this road but I know the main roads were a mess. I’m glad I don’t have to go anywhere tonight. One of the freeways south of us is closed in one direction after a sinkhole early last week and it’s going to be closed all week. It’s a busy freeway. I can’t even imagine what getting around the area is like with the freeway closed.
I just looked snd we have already received 2 inches from this storm. It looks like we could receive almost another inch.
I just know I don’t want to hear the word drought after all this rain.

It rained pretty heavily for parts the day. There were moments of clear blue skies. it came back in around 4:00pm and was heavy at times. My dog, who hates getting wet, kept peeking out of this dog door. He finally ran out to do his business and came back soaked. He wasn't even gone long and his little shirt was soaked. I had to put a new shirt on him after drying him off.

It rained heavily till early afternoon here. They say we got roughly 1.4 inches in my area. The wind was the worst. I’m sensitive to wind but even my cats were spooked. It slowed and and the sun came out for a bit. Luckily I don’t have to be out In public on days like this. Forecasting rain tomorrow but I don’t think they are expecting what we got today. Our PD put out Facebook warnings on flooded streets and downed trees. We kept power so that was good. I know we aren’t as bad as northern Cali but I’m over this weather. 😜

I can’t even imagine what getting around the area is like with the freeway closed. That is the 78. All the feeder roads around there are crowded with people trying to get around the closure. The area closed is so close to the 5 interchange that a lot of people "need" to go in that direction. There is also a major shopping area right at the closure. And after the westbound is fixed, they need to work on the eastbound. That will be ugly because all the cars on the 5 that will be trying to go east on the 78 will make a big traffic jam.

Oh but the rose bushes..gloriously FULL of buds! This spring is going to be SPEC TAC U LARRRRRRRRRR.
thankful for the rain but I'm soo done with it. Really, enough now mama nature. Thank you for the blessings but ya, basta.

I didn’t realize it was so close to the 5. I really don’t like that freeway and try snd avoid it when possible. My son was originally going to go to USCMS next fall but with the construction on the 15 will wait another year as he is a new driver snd no way he could deal with that mess. I didn’t realize that the 78 was going to need work on the other side as well. It’s such a busy freeway.

That is a busy corridor and it is down to what, one lane?? The 78 is bad during rush hour because is it only 3 lanes in each direction. No room to expand, yet more and more cars are on it. Lot of times though, the 78 is not bad. Just have to watch out for the ones wanting to go 80mph+ on a small freeway. UGH!

Yesterday we had to drive from Orange County up to Los Angeles. It was at the exact time when the storm was at it's worst. I have never driven in anything close to that deluge. We couldn't see more that three feet ahead. My husband was driving and we both white knuckled it all the way. We had a couple of close calls but arrived safely. By the time we came home it was clear before it started up again last night. We spent the rest of the day saying “We actually made it through that trip unscathed!”
There are also pot holes from all the rain. They are in every asphalt road & driveway.

That must have been scary! Glad you made it safely!! The potholes are terrible. I have hit a couple that jarred me. When this is over, I will probably need a realignment.

It backs up and takes about 30-45 minutes to get through and then after you are through it you are back to normal traffic. I went through it after rush hour at 9 and it was a mess. When I went back the other direction a few hours later it didn’t look as bad at 1130. I feel so bad for those that have to commute daily. The complaint I keep hearing is that there is no evidence that they are even working on it. Then when they finish the southbound they switch to the northbound lanes.

Well a tornado took off some roofs.
And the snow is really low on the hills at the start of the San Bernardino mountains.
It cleared up a bit so we could see it and now the clouds are back with light drizzle.

We keep getting super heavy downpours for about 10-15 minutes that flood my back yard then it stops and the sun comes out. This has happened about 4 times since 8am. So weird!
