Hi crafty friends! I am looking at die-cutting letters for a scrapbook cover page in both cardstock and vellum. My plan is to run both sets of letters through my Xyron sticker maker and then put the cardstock on the cover page and the vellum letters on top of the cardstock ones, unless there's a better way (the cardstock will either be this shimmery cardstock or plain white, and the vellum will be the starred paper in this post from Doodlebug Design)? I don't want the letters to be a gluey mess, so I don't want to use glue like from a glue gun. What has worked best for those who have adhered vellum before? Thanks in advance!

anything that fits in my X xyron - I adhere with that. Anything else, I use the clear half-size photo squares and just try to adhere spots that will be layered under something else whenever possible. Failing that I've seen people use stitching and staples successfully.

I’ve also found an acid free good old fashioned glue stick works to adhere vellum well - just make sure you cover the whole back surface and not just one part or it’s blotchy 😁

Thank you both! I figured it would be that easy, but I was hesitant.
Thank you! 😁

I use glue dots then cover that part of the vellum with an embellishment or an enamel dot. I remember way back in the day we used brads and eyelets. Many of us of us no longer metal on our pages.

another vote for the xyron.
ETA: because vellum is translucent, the xyron will keep the density of the adhesive uniform, and will keep the vellum from warping (like some liquid adhesives do). xyron is will just give the best edge to edge, clear coverage without the mess and unpredictability of liquid glues or dots.

artisticscrapper Thanks! I'm making letters, so I will probably go the xyron route, but will keep that in mind if I ever do something larger. papersilly Thank you! That seems to be the consensus.

I have a vellum tape runner by Therm-O-Web. It's an invisible bond adhesive runner and works great with vellum. I don't know if these are still available as I've had it for a number of years. But I just used it recently with no problems.

katieanna Good to know! I rarely use vellum, so I will go the Xyron route this time, but will keep an eye out for those too. Always good to have other options.

For your purposes, I agree the Xyron 150 is ideal for adhering solid/non-patterned vellum onto cardstock for the reasons papersilly cited above. Another option for undetectably adhering vellum is the E-Z Runner Permanent Fine Adhesive from Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. The cardstock letters, however, can be adhered to other cardstock or patterned paper with Xyron 150 or your usual adhesive. HTH, & happy scrapping!

I pounce glue on vellum with a large sponge dauber and it doesn't show. I usually squeeze the glue on a silicone mat, pounce the dauber in it and then on the vellum.

PaperAngel Thanks! There is a pattern to the vellum I'm using, so maybe I will look for that. scrappermcg Thank you! Sounds like something my furry assistant would love to get her paws on. Haha. Thanks again!
