Really disheartening.
Meanwhile, a teenage girl shoots up a school in Nashville today. Carrying two assault weapons and a handgun. She killed six people. No problem, I guess.

We are less than 15 minutes from Missouri and so I stay up on their news, too. They are absolutely fucking ridiculous.

It wasn't even a complete ban. They were only trying to ban kids from openly carrying without adult supervision. Because less restrictive gun laws are exactly what we need. Or we need to protect children's unrestricted 2nd amendment rights. What about childrens' rights to be safe in their schools? www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/missouris-gop-led-house-votes-ban-children-carrying-guns-public-rcna69915JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Missouri’s Republican-led House on Wednesday voted against banning minors from openly carrying firearms on public land without adult supervision.
The proposal to ban children from carrying guns without adult supervision in public failed by a 104-39 vote. Only one Republican voted in support of it.
Missouri lawmakers in 2017 repealed concealed carry requirements in most situations.

I live in Missouri, downtown Saint Louis. There are multiple security camera videos of a group(s) of 5-6 kids that look like they’re 13-14 yrs old all openly carrying guns and what look like assault rifles to me. It is unbelievable.

Don't thoughts and prayers work any more? I think the US has had more mass shootings this year than Australia has had in all our history. Gun laws should be being tightened, not relaxed.

It's disturbing. And yes, there are definitely other states with lots of concerning laws being passed outside of Texas and Florida.

As a Texan, when I see insane things like this, it's always a relief when it's in a different state. I generally assume I'm going to see that it's Texas stuff. Obviously, I wish none of the insanity was happening at all. And this one is truly insane.

I think Texas and Florida are just more vocal about their “initiatives” and they are bigger states so get more attention.

This is one of the dumbest things that I have ever heard. Why not let them smoke and drink booze too? That legislature is full of cretins.

I especially took note of these comments. What kind of logic is this?
"Republicans decried the effort as an unneeded infringement on gun rights.
“While it may be intuitive that a 14-year-old has no legitimate purpose, it doesn’t actually mean that they’re going to harm someone. We don’t know that yet,” said Tony Lovasco, a Republican from the St Louis suburb of O’Fallon. “Generally speaking, we don’t charge people with crimes because we think they’re going to hurt someone.”
And then of course they are blaming the Democrat for not doing enough to fight crime while actively working against her.
"Other provisions in the measure would allow the governor to appoint a special prosecutor in counties with high crime rates, a provision targeted at the St Louis circuit attorney Kim Gardner. Republicans for years have criticized Gardner, a 47-year-old Democrat first elected in 2016 as St Louis’s first Black female prosecutor. She is one of several progressive prosecutors elected in recent years with a focus on creating more fairness in the criminal justice system. Republicans say she is not doing enough to fight crime.

I mean we don't know that they might get into an accident. loosening gun control laws is the one thing the gop can deliver on so they keep going. I'm pretty sick of having to think of how to protect the students...knowing that I'd be risking my life when these assholes can't even use common sense.

I watch a lot of prepping videos and most of those creators seem married to their guns. I can't help thinking prepping is pointless as they will all shoot one another if SHTF!
