I’m about to start cataloging my supplies using Evernote, but have heard of the app called Color My Life, which is specifically for papercrafters to track supplies. Does anyone use this who can speak to its functionality and whether they recommend it? I’m curious, but leery of investing time in something that won’t be worth the trouble or could possibly go away if the app isn’t a success.

I’ve been using the CML app for over a year. I figured it was going to be time-consuming to inventory my stash anyway, so I might as well try the one that was more custom-craft-leaning. To my mind, it is well worth the effort & price.
It ensures I don’t double-buy. Helps me know what colors/variants of something I might still like to get. Also, sometimes (always increasing/improving, but still only sometimes) the item is scannable w/ my iPad or phone by its barcode, which makes entry even faster than manually typing the name and details.
But far and away for me, my favorite aspect is the tagging/searching. I do take the time to enter a *lot* of tag words to each item (For instance, on a small Lawn Fawn otter stamp, I might enter Lawn Fawn, otter, animal, ocean, etc in the tag section to make it come up in any of those searches), but it’s well worth it when I’m brainstorming or quickly trying to find just the right supplies for a card, layout, or project.
Definitely a bit labor-intensive on the front end (as is any cataloguing process or tool, I suppose), but my goodness, I’m glad I did it, and now it’s easy to enter a new item here & there as they come into my craft room so that everything is consistently searchable. May not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it sure is mine.

I just downloaded the app and tried to set it up with photos of my digital kits. Maybe I'm just dumb, but I cannot get it to work. I managed to get one photo of a kit uploaded, but I cannot for the life of me work out how to add a second photo. 🤪
I can see that it would work well for paper supplies, but is unnecessary for digital. I can just search my Finder for products, and if I try to buy something that I've already bought previously, the site will tell me I've already purchased it.

I’ve used it for my digital supplies, too, but I don’t have very many of them compared to an actual digi scrapper (I just use mine for print and cut stuff).
As to photos, I don’t know if this will help anyone, but if an item isn’t scannable and I’m entering manually —and that’s how I’ve done any digital items —I just save a photo or multiple photos in my phone or iPad’s photos before going into the app, then the app will let me click the camera and choose from my pics, and it can do a single pic or multi.
I don’t know if there’s a limit as to how many, but I’ve definitely used at least 4 before, because sometimes I like to add pics of projects or combos with it so I can remind myself how something can be used different ways when the time comes for a card or layout.

I have used this ap for a couple of years. I've been able to post multiple pictures for an item. You can add items to a set, color, or put it on your wish list. You can select the categories you want to use you can create projects adding images, items, colors or sets you've created. The note section is helpful too. It's a game change for me, I know what I have and where it is now! Oh and you can create an inventory report (mine is 139 pages) it will include pictures.

Looking at the app store now it seems to be free with in-app purchases...what kinds of purchases and what's the price range?

I have been using it for a couple years. I have not invested the time necessary to love it, but I do like it and everything I have done so far. Shakti its free for 30 days , but after the 30 days you will not be able to add new items (you keep access to what you have already entered though). For the premium subscription there is a monthly fee of 1.49 or 14.99 annual.

Thanks for the info -- that's a quite modest price.

I tried it when it first came out and I thought it was limited versus what I could do with Evernote (free version). So I continued with Evernote. Now I'm too invested in Evernote to switch.
I also have a list (although no photos or tags) on on Excel in case EN fails.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I think I’ll give it a try - at least for the trial period - and see how I like it!

As I added more and more items, I found it is important to add as many tags as possible for cross referencing by any category the item may fit, but to also keep tags as consistent as possible. I don’t tag manufacturer or type, because those are already sortable. I primarily use CML for non consumables: stamps, dies, embossing folders, ink pads, etc. I include stamp sentiments in my tags so I can find every set with sympathy, encouragement, etc. I also love that it goes shopping with me so I can easily check my inventory before I buy. I get lots of use out of CML. Definitely worth the time I put in.

Being able to instantly scroll through every little “Happy Mother’s Day” stamp in any of my sets and choose the perfect font/size/look is so satisfying and efficient. :-)
