I was just reading an article about voting and stripping away the right to vote for those who have a criminal record.
While reading the article a little light 💡 went off in the noggin.
Voting is a right in this country. Owning a gun is a right in this country.
But yet we have state legislators busy making it harder for Americans to vote. And at the same time these same state legislators are making it easier for Americans to own guns. Apparently to these state legislators and the people who vote for them the right to own a gun is more important then the right to vote.
I wonder what Jefferson, Adams, Madison and the rest of the gang would say about that.

I mean, not very many people could vote in the days of Jefferson and Adams, so I’m not sure how far that argument goes logically.

'God-given rights' to carry and kill people?... You bet, great idea. TOPEKA — Paying for a license to carry a concealed firearm violates “God-given rights,” a House Republican argued during a tense discussion on gun law ethics this week. A day after a deadly mass shooting in Nashville, Tennessee, Rep. Rebecca Schmoe, an Ottawa Republican, advocated for a bill reducing concealed carry licensing fees out of concern that lower-income Kansans cannot afford to pay them. Schmoe said it was wrong to have to pay to “exercise a right” and that people who opposed the bill were discriminating based on finances. "It means that you do believe in separate access to rights based upon income, and that low-income need not apply.” Schmoe said. “I urge you to stand for the rights that we are granted — our natural, God-given rights.” www.rawstory.com/kansas-republican-asserts-god-given-gun-rights-during-tense-debate-on-concealed-carry-fees/I have a RIGHT to determine what I choose to do with my body, as do all of you here!! I have a RIGHT to consult with my doctor and make medical decision with him/her about my care! I have the RIGHT to seek and provide the very best medical care for my children.

So I guess using that logic, guns should be free, then, right? Since it is our "god given right to have a gun, what if someone wants to exercise that right, but can't afford to buy one?? Yeah, the irony of the party that doesn't think poor children should get free lunch at school, but yet it should be free to get a gun permit. Got it.
