This will become a disaster. GOP falling in line with thoughts of bombing Mexico to get rid of cartels and fentanyl... A growing number of prominent Republicans are rallying around the idea that to solve the fentanyl crisis, America must bomb it away. In recent weeks, Donald Trump has discussed sending “special forces” and using “cyber warfare” to target cartel leaders if he’s reelected president and, per Rolling Stone, asked for “battle plans” to strike Mexico. Reps. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) and Mike Waltz (R-Fla.) introduced a bill seeking authorization for the use of military force to “put us at war with the cartels.” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) said he is open to sending U.S. troops into Mexico to target drug lords even without that nation’s permission. And lawmakers in both have filed legislation to label some cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, a move supported by GOP presidential aspirants. www.politico.com/news/2023/04/10/gop-bomb-mexico-fentanyl-00091132

Uh oh!! Santos expressed outrage after a New York City City Councilmember with a history of April 1 pranks issued a mock press release calling for a ban on single use-paper products. Councilmember Erik Bottcher last year on April 1 called for replacing all cars in Manhattan with golf carts. The embattled congressman took a sanctimonious tone when he tried to slam Democrats over what turned out to be a prank. “Republicans are working to put Americans First and lower the cost of living,” Santos tweeted.Democrats are busy trying to ban toilet paper and gas stoves. We can’t pretend politics doesn’t affect our lives, we need to remind politicians that they work for We The People.”Bottcher had some fun at Santos’ expense in a tweet that said: “Our quest to ban toilet paper may have gone too far” www.rawstory.com/george-santos-falls-for-april-fools-joke-saying-dems-want-to-ban-toilet-paper/

How did I miss Dianne Feinstein was in the hospital with shingles? Unfortunately Fetterman is still out, but also now Blumenthal with a broken leg which happened at a UConn celebration. he had surgery today.. Dianne Feinstein’s prolonged absence due to illness has made it harder for Senate Democrats to advance their agenda, The San Francisco Chronicle reports. The 89-year-old Democrat from California has missed 58 votes as of Monday since being hospitalized with shingles about six weeks ago, the report said. Feinstein in a statement obtained by The Chronicle confirmed that she was diagnosed with shingles in late February. Shingles is considered a non-life-threatening illness usually contracted by older people. She is not the only Senate Democrat who has been sidelined by illness in recent months. John Fetterman (D-PA) has been receiving inpatient treatment for depression since mid-February. www.rawstory.com/diane-feinsteins-prolonged-absence-puts-biden-appointed-judges-on-hold-report/

Guess Cruz spoke too soon.... Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) highlighted armed officers at banks to suggest more firearms on school campuses would make them safer – just 10 days before five people were killed in a bank shooting in Louisville, according to a report. The Independent said Cruz tweeted on March 31: ““When you go to the bank and you deposit money in the bank, there are armed police officers at the bank. Why? Because we want to protect the money we save. Why on earth do we protect a stupid deposit more than our children? “We have an opportunity right now to double the police officers on campus and keep kids safe.” www.rawstory.com/ted-cruz-2659835484/

Abbott to pardon active duty soldier convicted by a Jury for killing BLM protester. Texas Republican Governor Greg Abbott says he is “working as swiftly” as possible to pardon a U.S. Army sergeant who was just convicted Friday of murdering a Black Lives Matter protester in 2020 just blocks from the Texas state Capitol. Daniel Perry was also convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for fatally shooting 28-year-old Air Force veteran Garrett Foster. The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles said Monday it is now launching an investigation into Governor Abbott’s request for an expedited pardon. We’re joined by Hiram Gilberto Garcia, an independent journalist who live-streamed that night and was the first witness on the stand to testify at Daniel Perry’s murder trial, and Rick Cofer, a former Travis County assistant district attorney. www.rawstory.com/devastating-gop-texas-gov-moves-to-pardon-man-convicted-of-murdering-black-lives-matter-protester/

Conservative justices ending the MAGA movement or causing the Republican Party to lose elections would be poetic justice. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/04/11/right-wing-judges-undermine-gop/U.S. District Judge Matthew J. Kacsmaryk’s widely panned ruling blocking the Food and Drug Administration’s approval more than 20 years ago of an effective and safe medication, mifepristone, used both for medical abortions and to treat miscarriages, is another in a string of decisions from right-wing judges that may well boomerang on the MAGA movement. The decisions have revealed its true reactionary face.
Republicans cannot very well tell their appointees to cool it; they certainly cannot contain the blowback their judges unleash. The greatest irony of Donald Trump’s presidency might be that the “accomplishment” that most thrilled right-wingers may accelerate the vanquishing of a movement that is at odds with the values and sensibilities of most Americans. And the power of the judiciary itself may be one of the casualties.

Just a quickie... These 'brutal quotes' from Justice Alito could undermine Texas federal judge’s abortion pill rulingMeaghan Ellis, AlterNet April 11, 2023 Liptak then highlighted Alito's previous remarks about overruling the FDA. Back in 2020, Alito criticized a Maryland judge's decision in the case of the FDA v. American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, involving "a dispute over whether abortion patients should have an easier time obtaining a pill used as part of a two-drug regimen to terminate a pregnancy," according to a Vox report. Liptak wrote, "In 2020, in an earlier encounter with the case, Justice Alito, joined by Justice Clarence Thomas, expressed incredulity that 'a district court judge in Maryland took it upon himself to overrule the FDA. on a question of drug safety.'" He added, "In a dissent in 2009, Justice Alito, joined by Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Antonin Scalia, praised the agency’s expertise, saying 'the FDA has the benefit of the long view The majority had ruled that the agency’s approval of a drug had not displaced injured plaintiffs’ ability to sue under state law. Justice Alito disagreed. "Where the FDA determines, in accordance with its statutory mandate, that a drug is on balance "safe," he wrote, the court’s precedents "prohibit any state from countermanding that determination."www.rawstory.com/these-brutal-quotes-from-justice-alito-could-undermine-texas-federal-judges-abortion-pill-ruling/

I'd be truly surprised if I heard that he can read, or ever has.

This may no longer be the case... But... those who are a bit older on the east coast have heard the stores for years that Georgia was the place everyone was stopped, particularly from NY&NJ, got ticketed, lead to the 'court' to pay the fine ... So, Georgia didn't treat travelers so well.. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is apparently still bitter about the poor reception she got when she traveled to New York City to protest the criminal indictment of former President Donald Trump. The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports that Greene once again complained about rude New Yorkers during a town hall event in LaFayette, Georgia on Tuesday, where she also accused Democrats of trying to indoctrinate children into a "transgender" ideology. "We don't treat people that way in the South, do we?" Greene said. "Even if we don't like 'em, we just say, 'Bless their heart.'"www.rawstory.com/marjorie-taylor-greene-2659843013/#cxrecs_s
