Atrocious turnout rates below 20 percent in states such as Alabama, Indiana, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Tennessee and West Virginia dragged down the national youth turnout rate.
The significance of the youth vote shouldn’t be underestimated. “If the elections had been decided by voters 45 and older, Republicans would have won the House by an even greater margin and likely taken the Senate,” polling analyst John Della Volpe wrote in the New York Times after the election.
The implications for 2024 are eye-opening, according to Simon Rosenberg, a Democratic pollster who pre-bunked the 2022 red wave. “Projecting forward,” he writes on Substack, “keeping the 2020 vote constant, but now [adjusting] upward for the growth of [Gen Z and Millennial] generations into the electorate,” he found, these two segments could rise to 37 percent of all voters. The result would be a national margin for Democrats of 6 percent.

Then in Texas you have the case where two girls got into the wrong car by mistake. They left the wrong car and went to the right one while the driver of the wrong car got out of his car and went to the girls car and fired shots into the car wounding two of the girls.

South Padre Island Texas. Two cheerleaders shot. Two girls stepped out of their car. One accidently opened a car door and saw a male sitting in the passenger seat. Realized it was not the right car. Apologized. She got back into the right car. The 25 yr old male got out 'his' car, walked up the the car with the 4 cheerleaders in it and shot at the car. Hit two. One now critical, one released with injuries

N Carolina, 6 year old girl shot in face by neighbor and others including her dad, who is critical .. neighbor is now listed as fugitive.. Police are searching for a man from Gastonia, North Carolina who allegedly shot a 6-year-old girl, her parents, and other nearby people over a basketball that rolled into his yard, according to Queen City News. Robert Louis Singletary, 24, is believed to be responsible for shooting and injuring several people around 7:45 p.m. in the 4700 block of Grier Street near April Drive," reported Will Lewis, Connor Lewis, Mike Andrews, and Jesse Ullmann. "Authorities said one of the family members shot was rushed to the CaroMont Regional Medical Center and is in critical condition; the other is stable. The other shooting victims were later taken to hospitals in Charlotte for further treatment. Authorities said a bullet also grazed a woman, but she was not injured. A fourth person was shot at but escaped injuries." The 6-year-old was identified as Kinsley White.
