What does everyone use to edit your photos to then print with your Epson PM 400? The software (I'm not even sure what's the name of the windows program that brings up pictures) that's on my laptop is lacking. I've been having issues with printing pictures on my PM400 and it cutting off sides of faces. So I want software that I can edit and see what is in the frame that I'm printing on my PM400. I downloaded the free 7 day trial for photo shop, but it seems like that's more than I need, and the cost is more than I want to pay. I'm not opposed to paying for something, I just don't want to pay $20/month for it. Any suggestions?

I'm a Photoshop user, and it's a dream with the PM-400, but I hear you on the cost. It is a niche product with lots of bells and whistles, and hopefully others can recommend more broad-based alternatives. What you need is something that lets you create a document the size of your photo paper, and then lets you layer your photo in a way that you can drag and resize how you want it to print. And it should print exactly what you see on screen--no surprises. I use Photoshop to do more than edit/print photos, though. It's great for adding journaling to existing journaling cards and editing/recoloring/printing digital elements. So it's a good investment if you see yourself doing more...

Try Photoshop Elements (it's $69.99 at Best Buy right now), it's way cheaper than the full version of Photoshop and you can buy a standalone version of the software (you only pay for the software once, it's not a subscription like the full version is). I also use PixelSugar to edit photos but it's mostly for color correcting, you can't make collages with it.

I use Snapseed for editing and Print to Size for printing with my PM 400. Snapseed has nowhere near the capability of any of the Photoshop products but it has worked quite well for what I need.

I use Photoshop Elements. I tried the full Photoshop and definitely liked parts of it (other parts were not so user friendly for someone who had been using PE for several years) but my laptop couldn't handle it and kept crashing. I went back to PE but upgraded to a newer version and have been happy with that for printing with both my PM400 and a large format Epson.

I use the App for the PM400, Creative Print. Not so much for editing, but for placing the photos on a collage (4x6 or like 2- 3x4s). I use PicTapGo app for editing.

I use Elements as well -- bought on Amazon and have used it for several years without thinking I needed to upgrade it.

Photoshop Elements. Mine is from the early 2000's and still works. I do want to upgrade at some point and will get the version that you buy once.

Thanks all!! I'm going to look into Photoshop Elements. I think it will do what I need to and in my price point.
