The catch is you can only list one Cassette tapes in "teen" lines. I will use them for layouts about me (and my car is old enough to have a cassette player, although I don't own any tapes for it) but there has to be some other way to represent that teenagers listen to music other than tapes... Funny story (as close as I can get to a cassette tape story) my teenager found a VHS tape out in the garage a few weeks ago and has vowed to find a VCR so she can "see what the big deal is." I don't think she's going to be very impressed when she finds out she has to rewind it What is your icon that you'd like to see less of? ETA: and a Google search says cassette tape sales have "surged" since 2017. Really?

Grandparents depicted with gray hair and glasses. My parents (my kids’ grandparents) do not look like that representation of grandparents.
Most teen lines miss the mark. I need a teen line with smart phones, computer and video games, Nike shoes, hoodies, backpacks, snacks, basketballs hoops, and the Netflix logo. High top converse, cassette tapes, boom boxes, and other 80s themed icons do not fit today’s teens.

Icons that need to go...The catch is you can only list one ... What is your icon that you'd like to see less of? FLORALS. They abundantly bloom throughout most collections regardless theme or brand.

stereotypical icons -old-fashioned grandparents, ties for men, aprons for women, 80s teens icons, people almost always being represented as white, one-room schoolhouses with bells (and similar outdated school icons), the assumption we're all scrapping A+ students and winning sports teams....and so on

This, especially for cardmaking. Father's Day icons are so unrepresentative of the average modern dad. Even if most men still did wear suits and ties to a job in an office, which hasn't been true in a great many years and was only ever true for certain types of jobs, who thinks of their dad in terms of the most hated part of their work uniform? It's easy to draw/craft and I guess it harkens back to a mythical Leave it to Beaver family so I see where it comes from, but I'm sure it's not how dads and grandpas want to be represented.

pantsonfire did you miss the first line of the OP? Or are you a rule breaker? I agree with some of those already mentioned, and I also heartily disagree with a lot. If I had to pick one that hasn't already been mentioned on this thread, I'd have to say...... Nah, I got nuthin. I mean, I'm never going to use a fish skeleton, but then again, I don't have a cat, so I'm never going to buy a kit with one of those icons in it. Y'all can prise those flowers out of my cold dead hands.

Gnomes.
To me, they're not cute but a little bit creepy, and I'm just never going to put a gnome on my page.

I can only pick one? Typewriters. I don't shop as much as I used to so I don't know how prevalent they still are but for a couple of years there it seemed like random typewriters were all over the place.

ETA: and a Google search says cassette tape sales have "surged" since 2017. Really? Cassettes are super big in certain music genres, particularly metal, dungeonsynth, and synthwave. I've actually got several recent ones mostly because they're fun collectibles (but don't currently own a tape player).

I have lots of suggestions and I have no doubt as soon as I commit to one I'll think of about 50 more I wish I'd chosen. I'm going to go with icons that are about getting to a vacation rather than things you would actually do on a vacation, so things like suitcases (stacked on top of cars or not), aeroplanes, etc. ETA: and a Google search says cassette tape sales have "surged" since 2017. Really? I would believe that, quite a few bands I like now release their albums on vinyl and cassette.

I have more... Guitars Skateboards Gaming controllers Records Weird shaped cameras I don't use skateboards but I use guitars, gaming controllers, and records all of the time. I scrap 3 teen boys, though, and one is a guitar player, one loves video games, and one collects records, so yeah...

That silly stacked animal image on farm lines... I have seen it on several farm lines, but of course couldn't find a pic of it except for this die.

I actually have scrapped pictures of a goat standing on a cow from a trip to farm/store in my area and I didn't even use this icon I have been looking for a non-dairy cow to use on a layout about buying a side of beef, and couldn't find one where I wouldn't have to perform a pig-ectomy. I wonder why this image is so popular...

Teepees and dream catchers
Summer lines that contain palm trees and surf boards, live in Minnesota, not applicable.
Apples for school lines. Actually school lines in general need a redo.
With 3 record players in my house I hope records never go away. One of my favorite icons.

Gendered lines for things that you don’t need certain parts to do or use. Cooking/kitchen (almost always feminine), pet lines (gendered female cats and male dogs), teen lines (they’re always masculine looking).
The butterflies and grandma florals in every dang collection omg I’m so sick of them.
Dad lines with beards, car parts, ties and tools. DH does none of the above but he is a freaking amazing dad and these lines do not work.
Outdoors lines that are trying to do too many things at once (camping, fishing, hiking, mountains all together).

All of the above.
And I'll add mice. I just can't justify trying to kill mice and then add them doing cutesy things on a card. (ie. baking, sewing, floating on a bubble, throwing a snowball etc.) It does save me a lot of $$ though, as I refuse to buy any set with a mouse, gopher or mole.

All I can say is, I hope the designers don't listen to any of you hahaha! I still want to be able to buy and use flowers, arrows, rainbows, butterflies, stars, clouds, cameras, snow flakes, gnomes, type writers, skateboards, palm trees, surf boards......

I love flowers (not all but ones in my style) but basically IMO everything else can go. I don’t use icons in my scrapping. I guess sometimes I use heart embellishments that come with AE kits but otherwise I can’t think of any I use. Not a fan of theme scrapping so it doesn’t come up, really, for me. I don’t buy embellishment packs for this reason- I don’t use them. I would never use say, a llama or sloth. And even though I have dogs I don’t know why I’d use a dog embellishment when my pics are already of dogs and the dog embellishment doesn’t look like my dog? It’s just not my thing.

@breetheflea, just one? I don't really hate any icons, but find it hard to understand why some of them are so popular. I agree with mikklynn about the llamas. I don't dislike them but wonder how they could be used by most of us. And from days past, I never understood the chandelier thing. That one I practically disliked. @breetheflea, I also wondered why all cows seem to be represented by the dairy cow. But there are beef cow icons out there. Mainly on western themed collections.
