I loved Twitter. I built a professional network there when I wanted to change careers and those connections are what enabled me to get my first job in my new field. And I've made many real friends there as well. I'm not exaggerating when I say it changed my life.
But effing Elon has managed to ruin the site in less than a year. I still have my account, can't bring myself to delete it. But most of my network and friends have migrated to Mastodon. Which is fine and I use it. But it's not the same. I miss Twitter.

It's incredibly frustrating. Like Busypea, I have developed a professional network on there -- I've been solicited for multiple things based on interactions on Twitter, and, as someone whose work otherwise doesn't reach a wide audience, it has been really nice when suddenly the Washington Post contacts me because they read a tweet about an academic article I wrote. Musk is just awful, and it's hard to shake the sense that he is ruining something useful to people on purpose for fun because he can.

Musk has turned Twitter into a cesspool and his reactions are juvenile, but I recognize the role it played in networking and news. Too bad he's intent upon ruining it.

and the worst thing is that he stiffs the workers. I believe the janitors are suing him for the way they were fired.. his name is mud in this town. I believe he lacks all empathy

Hmm. Rich for him to be labeling NPR as such, implying its content is propaganda when his own companies have received billions in state and federal subsidies.
