I had to run into Dollar General last night to buy a litter scooper cause ours broke, and with 3 cats in the house, it was an emergency! I hardly ever go into this store, so I took my time perusing it. I was shocked to run into a little, and I mean a little scrapbooking section with 12x12 paper pads, thickers for 3 bucks, scissors, foam tape, and glue sticks. Now it was the 12x12 paper pads that caught my attention cause they were AC generic "everyday" paper pads, but the patterns caught my eye cause about 80% of them looked very familiar. Well, upon closer inspection, I realized they were all bits and pieces from Shimelle's OG lines, Shimelle, Box of crayons, Little by little, and some other random papers thrown in. There were 2 paper pads like this and 2 other generic ones with papers I did not recognize at all. I bought one to compare to what I have cause I totally missed the train on box of crayons and had to buy what they had when it came to TM and it was a line I couldn't find much of. The paper is somewhere between Joanns and regular paper in regards to quality. Oh, and it was only 5 bucks. I thought it was interesting that they were repackaging Shimelle's old lines and throwing them in with other odds and ends and selling them to places like Dollar general. Anywho, I know the rules! Here's a pic!

I recognize the papers as Shimelle's! Do you know how much the paper pad was? And the Thickers that were available for sale? Thanks for sharing!

Wow! I would have never thought to look there either. I’ll have to look closer in mine. Thanks for the details.

I believe the beach ball paper is in one of my Pebbles collections. A very interesting find! I wonder if one is nearby...

A few years ago, there were Becky Higgins PL cards at Dollar Tree.

Our DG had that as well as the black and yellow Cutter Bee scissors for $3.

The thickers were older ones, I was pretty sure I had them already in my collection. They only had 3. One was the high school chipboard letterman one in black-and-white, the other 2 where tall, kinda skinnyish, in foam, one silver, one glittery white. I will take a pic if i go back in there!

Great find! The closest Dollar General isn’t super close, but it’s in the same shopping center where the Tuesday Morning that recently closed. I just never stopped in there before. I like to “junk journal”, so thinner paper works great for that. Thanks!

My Dollar General recently had American Crafts chalk markers in solids and metallics - 4 markers for $5. I did see they had paper pads and some thickers - but I didn't pick them up because I am already paper and sticker rich.

Thanks for sharing! I will have to check it out! I have FOUR Dollar Generals between work and home, plus one in the town I work in and one not far from my house, so six total that I could easily check.

I remember pads similar to this at Michaels. AC designs but without the brand name. The card stock was a bit thinner but still worked for me.
There aren’t any Dollar Generals near me. Lots of Dollar Trees but usually not much there craftwise.

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I always like a bargain and when layering, I prefer thinner papers. But on the other hand, I feel like it cheapens their brand.

I wouldn't completely agree with that. For us more seasoned people, we know they do this, we know the difference in paper weight, nothing really changes for us. On the other hand if you're new to the brand, I can see how this would happen. But their target market for those papers probably would not know the difference or don't have the funds to be paying $1+ for one sheet of paper. Just enjoy you thin layering paper!

Lots of Dollar Trees but usually not much there craftwise. One of Amy Tan's first lines was sold at Michaels in paper pad form. I was thrilled because it rounded out some of what I was missing. It worked fine for me too. We don't have any DG's around my area either. They are way over on the other side of town. I decided I did not need any more paper worth that drive.
