Sock, that's what I'm afraid of, that I won't be able to eat before hand meaning I'll have to get up even earlier, which probably won't happen.

I usually work out around 6:00 or 6:30 in the morning. I have a huge mug of coffee and a small bowl of cereal about 30 minutes prior.

I used to do doubles on Saturday mornings (1 hour of cardio + 1 hour of weight training). I often didn't eat before hand. I was starving afterwards, but I made it through just fine. I needed the extra hour of sleep, and I just can't eat right before I work out, even 30 minutes. I will get total heartburn. I added an electrolyte tab to my water (Nuun) and it was all good. You have to give it a try and see how you do.

Before I worked I always worked out in the morning (usually running or a step class or both) and I ate nothing or maybe something like an egg or a banana. now I work out in the evening -- usually a long hilly walk, or weights and stretching in front of the TV. I don't really pay attention to when or how much I eat...but in general I eat a very light dinner so I don't really have a full stomach or anything. Same here. When I go to the pool in the morning I don't eat beforehand. I do drink water before and after. When I walk in the evening I do my new normal, smaller meal. But I'm not a runner or into heavy exercise, yet. I'm still a newbie that does a water class and walking so far.

I used to do doubles on Saturday mornings (1 hour of cardio + 1 hour of weight training). Sock, how do you do an hour of weight training? I find if I do all my weights it takes me a maximum of 15 minutes. That is even stretching it. I am in and out of there in 45 minutes. I do 30 min of fast, intense cardio and then maybe 15 of weights. Am I missing some exercises that I should be doing? Elannah

Typically, I work out in the afternoon around 4pm and on Saturday mornings, bright and early, I do my long runs. I eat 2-3 hours before and it's just my normal lunch. On my long runs, I eat an english muffin with peanut butter.
I'm currently training for a half marathon and on the weekdays, I use my treadmill. It's so hot where I live so I have to resort to running inside.

Elannah I work with a trainer and we do multiple supersets in different muscle groups. Biceps/back, triceps/chest, legs/abs... Can totally do 1 hour with a little rest between supersets.

I exercise btw 9 and 10:30am most days. I eat a hard boiled egg before and a banana after. Seems to work okay. But I am usually pretty starved by lunchtime!

Currently I do about 10 machines, will add more before too long. If I'm not rushing, two sets of 15 reps with a little rest between takes about 35/40 minutes.

I walk a mile or two before work. If I don't get it in then, it's just not going to happen.

What time do you work out? M-W-F 10am What/how much do you eat before you workout? Usually one or two hard-boiled eggs and/or small bowl of gluten-free oatmeal with half a banana. If I have time and am in the mood to spend a few minutes cooking, I will cook one cup of fresh spinach in a skillet sprayed with Pam and 2-3 egg whites and eat a slice of toasted, gluten-free bread. No butter. How long before your work out do you eat? Around 8am

I walk the dog with my neighbor for 2 miles every morning. For walking, I am fine with just coffee. When I get back from walking the dog 3 days a week, I have a bowl of steel cut oatmeal, wait 30 minutes after eating and then run 3.5-4 miles 40-50 minutes. If I don't eat something, I start bonking after mile 2, especially because there are hills on my route. Plain oatmeal, no sugar or anything, seems to sit just fine during my runs.

I work out six days a week. If I can't find time to make a super smoothie with tons of veggies and fruits then I make a simple one with the Vega Protein Smoothie mixed with coconut and/or almond milk. Also, on Tuesdays and Thursdays I do a boot-camp type class and then yoga. I try to make sure I have coconut WATER and with some chia seeds thrown in. I consistently run about 30 miles a week on the days when I don't do the boot-camp and yoga. On those days I walk five miles. I really recommend the protein, and chia seed with coconut water if you can down it. It's full of good things for you.

It took me awhile to figure out what works for me, but I tend to go to the gym after work. So I have a decent lunch and then a snack about 2 hour before working out. And then am starving for dinner afterwards!

Would you mind answering a few questions for me? What time do you work out? What/how much do you eat before you workout? How long before your work out do you eat? I have started working out recently and am trying to fine tune what/when/how much I should eat before hand. Thank you!!!! I run at 5.30am during the week and I don't eat before I go out. I do up to 1 1/2 hours without food. I then eat within 30mins of finishing. On Saturdays I do my longer runs so I eat porridge (oatmeal) 1 hr beforehand. If you're exercising for fat loss my nutritionist recommended the following: Cardio - train on an empty stomach or wait 60-90 mins after eating for your cardio session. Eat approx 30 mins after you finish. Weight training - eat 45-90 mins before weight training session and again approx 30 mins after you finish. If you have a meal beforehand, then just have a snack for recovery afterwards.

I have to eat something small before a workout. Maybe a Greek yogurt or a piece of fruit.
If I'm just walking a fee miles I'll eat regular breakfast.
I try to eat protein when I'm done.
Now if my bladder would cooperate id drink water beforehand too.

My favourite work workout is body pump and it is always a mid-morning class.
I really only have 3 go-to light meals that I eat before working out . I choose between two slices of toast with either a ripe banana smashed on top, peanut butter or toasted cheese. I have it about an hour before I go. For me, after a lot of experimenting, this is the perfect balance between not eating all and eating too much.
