I have the TH stamp platform and am just not a fan of the round magnets. They are strong but I can't just simply lift up. I have to slide both off the paper and then slide off the platform to grab to set on the next piece of paper.
Has anyone successfully found a bar magnet that works?
I see a lot of crafters who use the Misti and add tape to their bar magnets to easily life them up.
I know you can buy Misti magnet bars but I was really hoping to avoid supporting that witch.
Anyways, anyone find some that are strong?

I use tape on the magnets. It lessens the strength and lets me pull them up. They are strong.

I gave up on magnets. I used washi tape (usually two layers) but wasn’t always happy. I finally started using the Stick and Stamp mat by Brutus Monroe. I use my ATG to attach it to my TH stamp platform. I’ve been really happy with this. I don’t have to worry about the paper shifting since the whole thing is stuck down. Scrapbook .com has a a similar mat that’s in stock right now. I use my platform so much more now!

Let me check when I get home. The first ones I bought were too thick. I use blue painters tape to wrap around them. Both the round and the rectangle. Taylored Expressions has magnet sticker tape that I'll be purchasing with my next order.

From the hardware store. A roll was just in DH's tool stuff.

I use washi tape on the TH magnets. I have a couple of layers of tape folded around the magnet with a long tail to grab hold of. When it starts to tear I add another layer or start fresh with a new length of tape. The piece of tape needs to be quite a bit longer than I usually expect. It aint pretty but it's MUCH easier to grab the magnet with a tape tail. Magnets by jo.blackford, on Flickr

Don't buy these => they are too thick. I thought the 3mm were too thick when you add cardstock and I wasn't getting a good impression because the lid didn't close all the way. Does that make sense? I've had mine for a while and I can't find where I bought them. I'm pretty sure I bought them in person because I kept buying the wrong size online. Maybe Home Depot, Harbor Freight or Ebay. But the size I use are 4cmx2cmx 2mm. I hope this helps.

I use Scotch removable tape more than I do the magnets. I did find bar magnets at Michaels, not in the scrapbook section, but another area of the store. One had it on a wall, near kid crafts.
Edited to add: Scotch removable tape really works better than magnets, though. I usually buy it online, but sometimes you can find it at office supply stores. I can usually use a piece of tape multiple times before it tears and has to be tossed in the trash with my scraps.

I should try the tape. I don't really mind sliding the round ones off, but it is a nightmare if the two magnets are unable to resist their attraction.

I don't know if this will help, and I can't remember where I learned it. If your magnets are stuck together, brace them against the edge of a table with the top one above the flat surface of the table. Then push the top one off the bottom one. You want to slide it off the top of the other magnet and onto the table. I hope that makes sense. It works like a charm for me.

I have the SU Stamparatus and tried to buy spare bar magnets before they were gone, but failed. So I went looking, and Simon Says Stamp has their own brand of bar magnets.
I saw someone do a demo recently and they were using WRM round magnets in little plastic holders that looked fantastic, but are discontinued. I went looking for those and found the Bira ones linked above and also some from Premier Craft Tools. The latter are purple and they're in my mailbox right now, so I should go get them....

Mine is the full sized and I think that the smaller mat might slide around.

I want to trim down another one to put in my Tiny Tim.

I stoped using the magnets since occasionally I’d place them too far inside and they kept the top from coming down all the way. Now I just tape the paper down with drafting tap. Works perfectly.

I bought Nellie's bar magnets, but I still put washi handles on them and my round magnets. The washi does rip sometimes but I just reapply.

i wrap them with ribbon as wide as the magnet. glue it down flat. leave extra ribbon to use as a tab to lift the magnet. done! the magnet strength is not affected (if you use thin ribbon) and you can lift your magnets easily.

I got the bars from Tall Mouse (Cre8tiveArtz) at the Scrapbook Expo many years ago. They work great with some washi wrapped around the center.

I bought the bar ma*nets from Amazon and put the washi tape to pull them up. It works for me.

So glad I read this even though I have a different platform.
I had been using sticky mats for some things down -- punched pieces into a template to stamp multiple sentiments and the like -- but it's spring and I have pets and so any sticky mat left uncovered for more than 30 seconds seems to get all gunked and then the stamps manage to get little fuzzies stuck to them and everything goes sideways in a hurry.
While I don't think I'd try it with the sort of soft normal stamparatus mat, I stuck temporary tape runner on the back of my punched pieces with the smoother-surfaced grid mat and it worked like a charm. The pieces stayed in place well enough to double-stamp but were much easier to move than from a Stick n Stamp or even the slightly less sticky Scrapbook.com version.
