Last night I ordered one of those combo vacumn/mops from the shopping channel. (Shark HydroVac) Of course it looks too good to be true. For those of you that have one, do you use a regular mop sometimes, too? How do the edges of the floor look?
Is the O'Cedar spin mop better than the old Hurricane Spin Mop? (I just wrote a whole essay and deleted it on my experience with that and why it took me 10 years to put the whole thing in the trash after less than 5 uses). I have 5 or 6 different kinds of mops/machines in my garage, still "working" but too old to donate.

I hate mopping too. I am currently using the O'Cedar spin mop. You'll have to let me know if the Shark is any good. I currently vacuum, then mop. When I did my renovation, I got rid of all the carpet in the house and I'm kinda regretting that decision....but only until one of the dogs throws up, then I'm good with the decision I was looking at the Shark, Crosswave, and Tineco iFLOOR 3 Breeze but haven't pulled the trigger on any. And every time I'm vacuuming/mopping I think "hmmm, maybe I should pull the trigger".

I hate mopping as well. I was listening to a video yesterday (while cleaning) and she talked about loving her vacuum/mop combo and now I want one. I don't remember what brand she used.

My office mate has one of those and loves it. She said it was a game changer in terms of keeping the floors clean but the cleaning solution is expensive. She just got a swiffer for a quick clean up but mostly relies on the hydro vac.

I have the O'Cedar mop and it works fine. That is, the one we have now does. The first one I bought never would ring completely out and broke after a few months. DH contacted the company and they asked when we bought it and said they had some issues with mops made during that time. They sent us a brand new one and it is fine. My original one was purchased in the fall of 2020.

I hate mopping, but I like a REALLY clean floor... So the dilemma. I do have the spin mop and I don't dislike it. I have the original one, that is just dirty water. The new one has two buckets, in one, that allow you to spin the mop out into the dirty water side and dip the mop to use in the clean water side. I wish I had this - but what do to do with a perfectly good one that has the single water. So I just use a separate clean water bucket. My ideal way of mopping my vinyl floor is to use a broom. Not a natural corn broom, but my good Libman broom. I pour or spray a little household ammonia (open your windows!) and scrub my floor and edges with the broom. I follow with a clean mop - either the spin mop, or most of the time I put a clean micro-fiber into my Swiffer. I mop up the dirty water with that, then put a clean wet microfiber in again and mop that area until I am satisfied it is clean. I do the floor in small sections. The broom really dislodges any dirt, and gets the edges good. The microfiber in the Swiffer picks everything up so well. And a couple passes with the clean wet microfibers in the Swiffer really pick up everything. And I am left with a really clean broom too! IMO, Ammonia cleans vinyl floors like nothing else. I never mix anything else in with it, and I do ventilate. I see people using laundry detergent and all kinds of other concoctions in the Spin mop - and that just leaves residue for the dirt to stick to. And some of the stuff they mix is dangerous. Also - Fabuloso smells good - doesn't clean worth a darn. My vinyl floor gets dirty. Mud, crud, cow poo, spilled coffee and food. It's a real farmhouse. There is not a 'no shoe' rule here... sometimes you have to hot foot it through the kitchen to get to the bathroom fast, or get that emergency cup of coffee.... The Spin Mop has saved the day on some big spills for me. I dropped a huge pitcher of bottle calf milk. Oh gosh. It went everywhere. The spin mop made it easier. I first just mopped up the milk with it, and spinning that head made it easier to soak up. Then a few more passes with water, then ammonia and water to get it clean. I popped on a clean head and did the baseboards and cabinets that got hit with the splash. I do wash my walls with the Spin Mop. Mostly the stairway wall to my basement. That is where the mud and crud goes. And often a dirty/muddy sleeve slides down that wall. So a clean head will really do well cleaning walls.

You oush it down but it doesn't pop back up and trying it with my hand sort of works.

My Hurricane Spin Mop was used less than 5 times because the mop itself was a &%&))&$$!!! to handle. I thought it was just me so I went back to the Rubbermaid version of a Swiffer stick. At least the head of it swiveles. Yesterday the Hurricane Spin Mop just flat out broke. The bucket still works, but the mop which was frustrating to begin with, just broke. I dumped the whole thing in the trash, bucket and all. Too bad, it cleaned without streaks and got right up to the edges.
Iowcirl, that's a lot of WORK! I don't have animals or kids anymore, but I do have depression and once I've pre-vacuumed I'm ready to quit.
I think the hydrovac will help a lot with the procrastination part of it, but I will need something else for the edges, under furniture, and behind the toilets. We won't even talk about grout.

I finally caved and went back to a Swifter.
The o'cedar spin Mop never really cleaned the flooring and couldn't fit in ma y spaces due to size.
The once dark spray mist (similar to swifter) broken after a few uses and the pads never really became clean after washing and then just never were really absorbent.
The magic eraser sponge Mop was okay. It did clean the floor but also pushed the water around and wasn't absorbent either. But it was good at getting scuff marks off the floor.
Old school ring Mop was okay.
Honestly, hands and knees does a good job but my knees and POTS don't like that. So I use the Swifter and then hands and knees as needed.

iowgirl, the "do it on a dime" lady on youtube showed putting a bucket from the dollar store inside the o'cedar bucket for the clean water. Then the dirty water drains into the bigger bucket. This solution looks like less to clean up than the newer version with dual tanks.

Well, I vacuum with my little shark wand stick vac ( lightest vacuum I’ve ever had & love it ) then I either wet swifter or steam mop.
My kitchen is always messy though between the dog & im a messy cook the kitchen needs cleaning a lot.

I have had 2 different kinds of steam mops, the original Shark one (hard to push around) and another one that is easier to push but has to be refilled so often it's a pain in the tuchus.
I had a cleaning lady for a few years before Covid and she used her Shark steam mop on my tile floors and they always looked great when she was done. But she was much stronger than me.

Our steam mop works great on our tile floors, no streaks unless DH doesn’t switch out the mop head frequently enough. Occasionally when the floor is particularly dirty he works in sections to spray first with vinegar and let it sit for a few minutes. It’s an Oreck.

I love my irobot mop and she does a decent job if I run her after the irobot vacuum. I do mop occasionally myself to get the edges etc...but the floors stay cleaner overall using the robot (because she's much more willing to mop than I am, lol). I just have a microfibre mop I use and wring it out by hand.

I have a spin mop (not O'Cedar - no idea what brand) and currently I'm happier with it than any other mopping system I have used. I vacuum first with my Dyson V11 stick and then mop. With two German shepherds, we battle not only doghair but muddy footprints. I generally only do a small amount of water/solution in mine because I just dump and refill several times during my mopping session. I find that easier than having a second bucket to haul around. I like how well the spin mop head cleans. I have two heads so there's always a clean one and they wash up really well in the washing machine. Also - Fabuloso smells good - doesn't clean worth a darn. I use really hot water with a squirt of Dawn and a splash of Fabuloso.

I use a Shark steam mop on my laminate floors. My in-laws have a Bissell vacuum/mop and they have given it high praise. I like that mine is light weight because I have stairs. I am VERY interested in one of those mop robots. I have a Shark vacuum robot that does a decent job, but Bruce the Shark is very basic.
ETA: My steam mop is an older model, but it does a great job on the floors. It's not great about getting tight corners, but there's attachments you can use so it's more than just a mop.

I forgot about our Libman Freedom Spray Mop. I use this when I need to do some spot cleaning. We used to have a Swiffer but buying new pads and only using their cleaning solution got expensive. I like that you can wash the pads. I also loathe mops that require mop buckets. I had a janitorial job for two years and it was a total PITA.

I really want to try a steam Mop. This is what I have (Shark) and I love it. My first one worked great for over 15 years before it finally died and I quickly went out and bought another. They work great! I bought a Norwex microfiber tile pad and put that on there and it really helps gets my tile clean. At the lake cabin we can’t use a steam mop because we have LVP so there I use a non steam spray mop with a microfiber pad with water and a little white vinegar in it.

My most regretted mop purchase was that unwieldy Norwex mop. I thought that long bar would make the job go faster, but I really think it's more of a negative feature. It's hard to get good even pressure all along it to really get dirt up and it flipped over on me all the time. I found I was using my foot on top of it to push into corners and work on spots. Just awkward and wasn't worth the effort it took to use it.

Thankfully I got it for free as a hostess gift years ago because it isn’t worth what they charge for it. BUT I LOVE the microfiber mop head that came with it, especially the tile mop head! I stick that thing on my Shark steam mop and it works great for scrubbing the floors and getting them clean.
