Just curious what the peas have done with this - I have both a niece and son about to graduate (oh and son’s girlfriend).
I go to Colorado in a couple weeks for my niece’s graduation- I think I’ll give her money - but really not sure how much?
Then my son graduates - I already paid for his plane tickets to Europe and we will give him a chunk of money so that is taken care of… His long time girlfriend also graduates - not sure what to get her? Maybe a piece of jewelry…
Would love to hear what other peas have done for graduation gifts…

When DS graduated from high school, we gave him a trip to the Boundary Waters for a week long canoe trip. Dd wanted the same. When he graduated with his undergrad, we gave him a nice watch. When DD graduated from her undergrad, we gave her small ruby earrings. DS took a COVID hiatus from his grad degree and hasn’t finished. DD graduates with her doctorate in a year and we plan to give her another set of earrings.

I like the idea of ruby or sapphire earrings for the girlfriend. Eta - or yes, maybe I’ll just do cash to her as well…

I have only had one graduate from college. (Youngest dd got an Associate's Degree from Community College. I didn't count that. She is working on her art/education degree from a university now.)
I took my daughter to Latvia for her college graduation present. We have so many nieces and nephews that we have done nothing for them. None of our family members on either side have had college graduation parties, sent out announcements or anything. I would think cash is always a good option.
Our youngest son will graduate in December 2024. Don't know what his gift will be. Dh will probably go on his trip.

For the girlfriend's gift, I would lean towards a piece of jewelry. When DD graduated we gave her a pair of earrings that matched a ring we gave her for her 21st birthday. She also graduated debt free, which was the best gift IMO. My youngest niece is graduating next month and will be teaching 3rd grade in the Fall. My plan is to get her a piece of jewelry then (if her parents will ever figure out what they are giving her!), then in the Fall I plan to give her money to help her set up her classroom.

I got cash from my aunts/uncles with a card.
That is what my parents send to nieces/nephews.

I send cash regardless if it is high school or college.
When dd graduates with her AA next year before transferring to a 4 year, I will get her jewelry as that is her thing. We gave her a real pearl necklace when she graduated high school. Oh and a new phone.

No one here gives gifts for college graduation except the family, so I cant help with the niece!
For DS, we paid for his board exams and study materials, which was a big chunk of change for a new grad who cant get a job without passing boards!

I gifted my BIL and nephew each leather messenger bags. My nieces each received leather journals and matching business card holders from this local company www.oberondesign.com/

I am not sure if it is something everyone would want, but my DD's university sells a lifetime alumni association membership which includes discounts for museums, travel, theaters, etc. I am considering that for her when she gets her undergrad degree (bc she will also go right into her masters program, as shes in a 4+1 program)

We gave diploma frames from the university bookstore to DS and his girlfriend (now wife). They're both in roles where displaying their diploma in their office is appropriate/expected.

I would give cash in a card. Transitioning into full fledged adulthood after College, there are usually expenses incurred, depending on what the Graduate is doing or where they are going. Moving on from College living situation, buying new work clothes, relocating back home or to a new city for job, setting up a new living situation, etc...

I gave my kids diploma frames from the school and cash. I gave my nieces jewelry. They seem to wear it a lot, as they all share lots of pictures with me.

I always give money to my nieces and nephews. I've been wracking my brain over what to get my twins who graduate college in 3 weeks.
I thought about a trip, but they're not going to have time. Twin A has a job starting immediately after grad (yay!). Twin B will be doing grad school (or postgrad, as they say) in England, so she gets a trip anyway and will be working to sock away cash right up until she leaves.
B mentioned a new phone, which is practical but not very sentimental. I'm thinking about jewelry for A--B wouldn't give a darn about jewelry.
I could do cash, but I think we're still going to be giving some significant financial support for a bit.
