So the last time I invested in craft paint was Making Memories. I still have a box or mostly dried up paint that I can't seem to let go of. Anyway, I saw the rerelease of some of the distress paints and got me thinking maybe these would be a similar quality and vibrancy so I thought I would ask the Peas if any of you had experience with them.
I am not a big multi-media crafter, but I would like to have a nice set of craft paint on hand.
TIA!

I like my Tim Holtz paints. I have the old ones with the foam top lids, and none of mine seem to be dried out, and I've had them for years. I really don't use them as much as I should, but for what I have used them for, I am happy with the quality.

While I gave them away, I really liked my Ranger Dylusions Shimmer Paints.
I just didn't use them and found them to be more of a hassle than it was worth ti work with paint. So I donated them.
eta I had one white distress by Ranger and also was happy with the quality. Used it on a project and then gave it away.

i have the distress ink pads and crayons and i like those products. i tried a couple of the paints and never saw a difference between then and regular acrylic paints. granted, i don't do a lot of painting projects. i mostly use it to spatter on stuff so to me, that's no worth buying specialized paint.

Nope. I collect all the distress and oxide pads and that's quite enough.

I'm glad you posted this topic! I love all my distress products and have been wondering if I should add some of the paints to my supplies. How different, if at all, are they from regular acrylic paints?

My Ranger Paints always seemed thinner than traditional acrylic paint. Yep. My Distress paints are very very fluid. Way thinner than regular acrylic. Highly pigmented, so the color is not thin, but super runny. ETA: I believe I have heard TH say in a demo somewhere that they are like that on purpose, so not a quality issue.

I love the Distress Color Palette and the paints work beautifully with the inks, oxides, crayons and texture mediums. They are thinner than regular acrylic paint but they are acrylic and are permanent when dry. I do use them on a gel plate too! You can stencil or stamp with them on fabric, paper, metal, resin. He did an excellent demo with the re-release of some of the paint colors that were retired back in 2021? The techniques are great and I learned a lot and will be using my paints more with my inks and oxides. Here is the link, plus Tim started time stamping his videos and you can skip around and click on the different techniques in the video! www.youtube.com/watch?v=oHA1Hd0cTns&list=RDCMUCQ3f82p5yb6MiA9O1LZbmEA&start_radio=1
