Holy cow is right. I wonder if they are the same price in the store? I haven't been in a while.

That seems pretty pricey.
They’re a few $ cheaper on Amazon but not a lot of choices. Scrapbook.com has them for about half that price but then there’s shipping.

Dang, I should sell all mine that I haven't used in years for half that cost and I'll still make money!

Wow...I guess I'm glad I have two SB.com organizers full of Thickers! I've been trying to use them up.

Yikes! I stopped buying Thickers years ago (although it may not be obvious, given the couple wire locker baskets full of them in my craft room) due to lack of stickiness, an inadequate amount of my frequently-used vowels & consonants, not always labeled as acid-free/lignin-free/archival, & price per pack (especially considering the above). Instead, I opted to invest in dies (& a few stamps) in basic/usable fonts which can be cut using any paper & layered for dimension.

That's a lot of money for stickers. esp for stickers that usually need additional adhesive help.

I think they mark it up a lot so that they can discount it for 50% off or whatever. I noticed Michael’s website doing this for some select brands, as well as their regular store brand.

Michaels stopped selling Thickers in stores (around here) at least a year ago when they reset the scrapbook/paper area. Now they just sell their own brand. I rarely go down the sticker aisle beyond a glance anymore. Once in a while I'll find them for $2 at Goodwill or our local second hand craft store.

That's nuts. I guess I should stop by TM and grab any I can find that I like for cheap before they close 😫 Big Lots used to have $2 thickers, but it's been awhile since I've seen those.

I’ve noticed a lot of stuff they sell on their website is super marked up. One full size distress ink is $14.99. Please. We all know what those retail for.

Unfortunately, scrapbookers have a reputation for being willing to pay ridiculous prices for things they want. Whether or not that reputation is based on reality is debatable. I’m not one of them. I bought my first electronic cutter years ago, and it was one of the smartest purchases I’ve ever made.
Thickers don’t even stick that well, as has already been acknowledged here. Yes, they have dimension. That’s why they are called Thickers, but a little foam tape under die-cut letters gives you dimension, too, and you can use whatever font you want. Of course, you won’t find a free font online that matches Thickers. That is intentional. They know a lot of scrapbookers have electronic cutters, but fonts can be expensive, and Thickers typically use a commercial font that isn’t cheap. I’ve looked up matches in the past. A pack of Thickers costs about $9 on Amazon. No way am I going to pay even that.
I suspect that either Michaels thinks they can get those prices, or another possibility is that they, like Tuesday Morning, might be about to go under. I rarely go to the craft store anymore, and I’ve always been one to prefer shopping at a brick and mortar store.
I hope I’m wrong, but we’ve seen so many businesses close.

The price alone is part of what made me stop buying them. Now I make the DIY version I lovely dubbed "dickers" and I can't stop won't stop making them lol.

I rarely go to the craft store anymore, and I’ve always been one to prefer shopping at a brick and mortar store. I hope I’m wrong, but we’ve seen so many businesses close. That could be said of almost any group - wood workers, people who work on cars for a hobby, cooks, other crafters, artists. Or people who collect things - funky pops, comics, figurines, pins, etc I fork out $$$ for my Le Creuset. Yes there are cheaper options but the quality is why I pay the money. And ease of cleaning. Others may go hoky crap why spend that much. Because I want to. It also comes down to convince. Why do people fork out $200+ for an air fryer, InstantPot, or small counter top convection oven? Easy meals. Thickers are crafters convince item. Wide range if colors and sizes, match lines, easy to use, already prepped, east to store, take less foot space than larger machines. My Michael's still carries them but I buy them online. I order the foam as they are very sticky over the chipboard.

I see that this is an old thread, but I went in today for the first time in months and found Thickers for $6.99 and they were 25% with a coupon. They were a few rows apart from the normal Thickers and were with popular AC lines of paper and product. I think the website says 40% for this weekend too.

This is really interesting to me. As a person with hoarder tendencies, this discussion reinforces my general ways. I do tend to give myself what I suppose are "containment rules," but the one area in my paper crafty pursuits where I do not apply the rules is ALPHABETS. Alphabets is a big category: Chipboard, stickers, wood veneer, fonts, stamps, dies...and definitely THICKERS. I have four drawers of Thickers. By drawers, I mean the top drawers of the Ikea Hemnes dresser. However, that dresser is across the room from my work area, so I find myself making a mess of it by not putting them back the way I should. I tend to mostly use white, neutral and black Thickers, so I moved those categories to a Clip It Up a friend sent me a few years ago. The Clip It Up is much closer to my main work area.
Anyway, over the years I've acquired so, so many Thickers. I do use them quite often. Titles are an important part of my scrapbook style, so much so that I sort of scratch my head and don't really understand the idea of not using titles on layouts--though there's nothing wrong with not using titles. It's just really ingrained in my style, I guess. There is a discount scrapbook store near Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and for a couple of years it had the most glorious wall of Thickers. Hundreds and hundreds of packs of Thickers, all different styles and colors. Maybe even a couple thousand. I would go every so often and load up. I think the owner came across some sort of wholesale opportunity for them and created a pretty large space to display and sell them for a long time--definitely a couple of years. I think they were around $1 to $2 each. Then there was the Tuesday Morning stash-building Thickers opportunity. I also availed myself of that, many times. Peachy Cheap Thickers grab bags? Sure!
I have some favorites that I have gone back and rebought several times. These tend to be white, sans serif, tall and skinny styles. I think I prefer the foam ones that have better stickability.
So now I have several hundred packs of Thickers. I do still buy them occasionally, though I cringe at the approximately $7 price tag they retail for nowadays. $12.99? They would have to be exceptional for me to bite off on that price tag.
Mostly I guess I'm feeling completely vindicated at my Thickers-hoardery ways from the before times, when $1 or $2 packs of Thickers were not that hard to find. The same holds true for other supplies--paper has gone up (everything has gone up), but since Thickers have been a particular acquisitive focus for me, I find my hoarded stash particularly satisfying. I guess looking at it on the positive side, the high cost of Thickers nowadays serves as a boundary for me to really carefully consider whether I will use a new pack and/or whether it fills a color gap (purple).

I own a huge amount of Thickers. Some of them are very old and I got a lot of them back when Tuesday Morning, Big Lots, and Ollie's had them super cheap.
I still buy them. I'd say 95% of my pages have Thickers (or now Doodlebug and Pinkfresh because I like the small size) dimensional titles. I know there are more economical ways to do it but I like being able to slap them on (even though you need adhesive for the chipboard ones) and call it a day. There are so many fun fonts and colors. I'm a huge fan of the Vicki Boutin ones. I loved the Amy Tan ones, too. I still pull those out all of the time and will be sad when they are all used up.
I will not pay $12.99 for them, though. Most of them on ACOT are in the $6 range.
Honestly, I have enough to last me through several lifetimes but I'll still buy a pack if the font is especially good.
I read somewhere that it isn't that the adhesive is bad on the chipboard ones, it is that there isn't any give to the letters so that when the paper bends a little the letters don't bend with it. The foam and puffy ones don't have that problem because they can bend with the page. I don't mind putting extra adhesive on, though.

I bought some at JoAnn yesterday for 50% off the $4.99 price.
The shelves were really empty, but I scored 2 packages of Thickers and some Bazzill at 10/$3.
I rarely go into JoAnn, but needed some kelly green paper.
