I prefer to scrap recent pictures because my memories are fresh and that helps with journaling. But I also love to scrap older pictures for the nostalgia. Especially pictures of my kids when they were little. Those sweet little faces.

I scrapbook in chronological order, and I am several years behind.......so my preference is older photographs.

Both, for different reasons.
I love scrapping recent photos, because as you said, my memories are fresher. Also, it makes me feel good to be up-to-date.
I love scrapping old photos, especially of my kids, because it brings back lots of happy memories.

I still need to catch up on my old pictures so scrap new and old. I tend to like the newer ones more since they’re fresher in my memory.

Guess i will be the odd one, but I don't care. For me it is about the creative aspect. There are times I scrap a photo and don't really care about the journaling because there is not necessarily a story about it, I just like it. I always try to date though, but sometimes I am doing my best guess (for the old photos).

I think new pic's excite me, b/c I am already thinking of the page when I am taking the photo.
When I am scrapping older photos, I am usually focussed on the story I want to tell. I didn't take many photos of my kids when they were little, and I have even fewer of my own childhood. I scrap them from time to time, but I don't feel like I have to scrap them all.

Those are my thoughts, too! I was happy my grandson's spring hockey league has different colored jerseys than his regular league. I have a new color combo to use!

I am now going back to 2002-2008 to scrap. It will be a fun change.

Recent. It's hard for me to get into the groove with older photos. Often I've forgotten little details about the occasion and I have seen the photos so much they just aren't exciting anymore.

When I first started scrapbooking in 2016, I didn’t really take photos so the only ones I had to work with were old ones (taken by other people that I was given the doubles of, at that!). After a couple years I got bored of seeing the same photos to choose from, so I started taking them. I’m still not the best at remembering to pull out the camera (my phone, lol), but luckily DW is. I very much prefer recent photos to old ones.

I like both!
The recent pics I'm usually excited about because they are probably of a trip or some event we've had recently. I likely have already bought some kind of special paper/embellishments just for these pics which makes me excited to play with "new stuff".
I also like doing older pics. I've been going back to some baby/toddler pics of my son (who will be 21 this month) that never got scrapped and that has been fun as well. I can still do some "cutesy" type pages even though I don't have a baby any more.

I had several years when I was a SAHM and we were pretty broke (so I had lots & lots of time at home) so I have all of my photos scrapped up to the end of 2019. I'm not currently planning on scrapping my childhood photos. Even if I wasn't caught up-ish, I think I'd enjoy it just as much either way. I love to tell a story whether it's a newer one or an older one.
I do have a handful of photos from my partner's life before me, and it's been fun to scrap those and hear the stories behind the photos as he's not one to talk about his past.
