I had a doctor appointment last week and right away noticed the “Masks Required” sign off the door. Went in and nobody had masks on, not the front desk staff, nurses, doctor, and patients. They said the requirement ended last Monday. It caught me off guard. Are masks still required by you? Not in doctor’s offices. There’s still required in hospital settings along with urgent cares and I had to wear one for my CT scan in the office. I’ll be curious to see how things are handled the next time I take my mom to her oncologist appointment which is in a hospital.

There was still a masks required sign on the door when I went to the dentist about three weeks ago or so, so I put one on. But half of the staff inside didn’t have them on. I go back next Monday to have a broken filling fixed so we’ll see what happens then. When only half of the people are actually doing it, it kind of becomes security theater IMO.

I think going into a medical facility w/a mask is just a good idea. Hey, there's a lot more than covid to avoid. My doc's clinic recommends masks, but they're not required. The staff is still masked. Though I still wear a mask when I go out, because I choose to do so.

My son had ortho surgery last Thursday at a hospital that was pretty well-known for mandatory mask-wearing (Methodist for the locals). I was surprised that we didn't have to wear masks at the hospital anymore. I had just gone to my ortho in the same system last month, and they were still requiring masks at that time. DH was at Methodist last week for surgery and I was also shocked that masks were no long mandatory. There were some staff and visitors still wearing them, but I'd say only 20% of so. When he was in Memorial Hermann the end of Feb, masks were still required and at another facility in March (HCA) was not requiring them. I wonder if the US government ending the Covid 19 emergency declarations on May 11, 2023 has anything to do with more places ending mask requirements? My GP (Methodist as well) was still requiring them when I saw her in January. Saw her again this past Tuesday and they are only requesting them if you have been sick. My ortho practice (not Methodist), as well as my dentist, did away with mask requirements over a year ago.

Dallas area - I'm not sure what the current practice is as we have thankfully managed not to need anything except the dentist recently. Last fall I had a medical issue and the hospital and doctors' office required them then.
When I am out running errands etc, it is not uncommon to still see a few people masking.

No, no longer mandatory unless you have respiratory symptoms.

Our ophthalmologist and dentist dropped the requirement months ago but until recently everyone else was still requiring it. DH had an appointment week before last and it was the first time we did not wear masks at a doctor's office since 2020.

I had a doctors appointment last Monday and they had just dropped the requirement. Both the nurse and my doctor said how weird it was and asked that wear one if I had any respiratory symptoms. I noticed that they both kept touching their faces and that they seemed uncomfortable with not wearing one. I told them both that I didn’t mind if they wore one, but both declined. (I was in for a prescription refill, not an illness.) I want to tell them to stop touching their faces though!

It's at the office's discretion. Most of my doctors have removed the requirement but my asthma doctor still requires it. Which makes since. I haven't gone to my PCP yet so I can't answer for them but ortho and neuro have all removed the requirement. As has my dentist.

Still state mandated in Massachusetts. My mom is at high risk, so I'm glad. She spends a lot of time in dr. offices.

I take my son to speech therapy at a medical office and they just dropped the mask mandate at the end of April, but it is still “strongly encouraged.” It is so nice to see our speech therapist’s face! I’ve been taking him for six months and the first time she came out without a mask on I almost didn’t recognize her.

Masks stopped being required at Kaiser and other medical/dental facilities in California about a month ago. Lots of people and certain departments still wear them, though.

My DH's podiatrist called today and left a message about his upcoming appointment and reminded him that they wear masks in the office.

My doctor was still requiring them in the office in March when I was there last, but they were not required at my mammogram (at the hospital) or at the surgery center where they tried to do a biopsy.

I haven't been to the doctor in awhile but last time I went I seem to remember they were getting ready to do away with them. I haven't been anywhere that masks are required. Ohhh, DH got his colonoscopy last week, no masks except a few medical workers.

North Dallas area. Up until last month all my doctor's offices required them. It was surprising to see it lifted, I thought they were just going to keep it forever.

I've been to various medical appointments in 2023, and requirements have varied. Massachusetts General Hospital, where my endocrinologist is, required them. I've had imaging appointments of different types, labwork, different types of medical appointments, dentist appointments and none of those required masks.

Dani-Mini had a check up today and it was only required for sick patients. The office staff also weren’t wearing masks but the clinical staff was.

Still people wearing them around here. Not a ton though. Most medical staff are still wearing them, but they are not required at my doctor's office.

My nursing home made them optional last week. Wouldn’t it be great if people with respiratory symptoms wore them and well people did not? We all know that wouldn’t work by now though.

I don’t know if it’s required here, but I had a mammogram a week or two ago and they had a sign up saying their employees were wearing them for our health. I grabbed one out of my car and returned the favor.

Kaiser stopped requiring them some time in April. Some people wear them but not all and the same with drs.

I forgot when it stopped being required in AR. I wore a mask when I suspected I had COVID in December. (I did). Dr put on a mask once test came back positive.
I wore one at allergist after Christmas pulmonary Dr that following month.
I can't remember if hospital staff was wearing them during my hospital stays last year. Think some did, some didn't

I'm in Orange County, CA. Masks aren't required anywhere right now.
I really would like to see masking when someone has any kind of sneezy, coughy thing become the norm. It seems like the socially responsible thing to do. Unfortunately, we've seen that about half the country doesn't give a damn about the germs they spread. It wouldn't surprise me if we had another pandemic in the next decade.

MN here. We are following CDC quidelines and each state is different. They retest I think every 2-3 wks, and if the % goes up to a certain level, then we have to start wearing them again in hospital. Right now we are about 3 wks out of not wearing them at my hospital. I sort of miss them sometimes. I guess I fell much safer around a lot of pts with them on. If we are sick we wear them. If feels weird not to wear them.

I went to my Kaiser last week and noticed for the first time 25% people not wearing masks and a few employees, so yes it ended sometime in the last few months.
