I especially like the first two, style and color. I want to say — don’t worry too much about the sleeves. Most of us have imperfect arms, and who cares. I was concerned about mine as well but ended up wearing a sleeveless dress to a wedding recently and it looked great. I wore a wide-legged jumpsuit, v neck and cap sleeve, and it looked and felt perfect, and lots of other imperfect arms were on display.

I like the first one best. Unless this is an outdoor wedding, you will be too busy socializing and having photos taken to worry about getting cold.

I pored over every site for my mother of the bride dress and ended up going into a special occasions store and finding one. Any chance you have one anywhere near you? It was just so much better to have someone bring me dresses - I literally said "I want this and this and this and this and not this" and she found me a dress. It's reasonably priced, she's doing the tailoring. I bought and returned quite a few dresses before I just said "that's enough - I'm sick of trying them on at home and hating them"(or worse, settling for something that's just okay.)

I like them all except #2 - to me, that big skirt is a bit princess-y. The last one comes in an olive color that would be lovely for fall - it could coordinate beautifully if her sage is on the warmer end, but it could also clash terribly if her sage is very cool-toned. Congratulations, in any case! Let us know what you decide for the dress.

You can order swatches for the last one, which might be helpful since it’s offered in so many colors. A navy might work well with those wedding colors if the dark green doesn’t.

I probably do—I live in Phoenix so it’s a big city. Where would I even start to search for something like that? We went to one bridal shop and my dd found her dress within the first few she tried on. She loved it so much that she cancelled our appointment at the second bridal shop because she was sure she found the one. All that to say I’ve only been to one dress shop and it was all bridal dresses so I have no idea. I thought about going to Saks here and trying dresses on so I could have a better idea, but other than that, Macy’s, and Nordstrom, I have no idea. I guess I can google just as well as anyone else, but if you have any search tips, happy to take them! I like them all except #2 - to me, that big skirt is a bit princess-y. It’s a nice color and has coordinating florals that seem like they would match, but the dress seems more bridal/princess/something. I actually found it in an article about best mother of the bride dresses, but I don’t think it’s quite the right one. Also, trying match a sage color I haven’t seen is going to be a bit of a challenge!

Agreed you’ll have more success and less stress by having someone help you. The personal shoppers at Nordstrom can be great.

When I was looking, Mac Dugal, Alex Evening, and Adriana Papelle were really nice quality MOB dresses. You can order direct from their websites. I tried on that first one, and it was stunning but too princess for me. I’m kinda a more plain gal.

I've just been through this and I ended up at David's Bridal. The first two are gorgeous, but a little too blingy. The Anthropology is a straight-up ball gown which is too much for a MOB. You're not going to want a train. I tried on this one and it looked cheap. Plus, there were so many women wearing versions of the same thing. I really like a lot of these. David's Bridal

I love both of the Mac Duggal dresses (not that anyone should ever trust my fashion sense), but holy cow, the prices! Okay, I guess it’s for your daughter’s wedding. Would you be able to at least wear it again somewhere else?

I thought about going to Saks here and trying dresses on so I could have a better idea, but other than that, Macy’s, and Nordstrom, I have no idea. Run, don't walk! Around here, at least, it's prom/wedding season, and Macy's is LOADED with formal dresses, shoes, and accessories. Go look! I got an ensemble from Alex Evening from Amazon for a formal quinceañera, and I was very happy with how it looked. It was not MOB-worthy, but I will vouch for the quality-for-price that I got!

Would you be able to at least wear it again somewhere else? Right?!?! I don’t want want to pay more for the MOB dress than for the actual wedding dress for the bride! Thank you every one for the additional information. librarylady —I tried your links and they all said the page cannot be found or the item cannot be found. I’m going to try them again tomorrow. Not sure what’s going on!

I love that first dress! But holy cow is that expensive! Not a fan of the cape style ones, I would think they would be a bit awkward to eat dinner in. And that last dress is very plain IMHO

Have you tried on any dresses by Teri Jon? (Niemans and Saks and some specialty boutiques carry the brand). My sister in law wore Teri Jon to both her son’s weddings and looked fabulous. My sister-in-law is tall and thin, but I have a friend who is plus sized and wore a Teri Jon dress to her daughter’s wedding and she looked stunning.
Unfortunately, the cut of Teri Jon dresses is not right for me. I found my MOB dress at a boutique in Dallas called Tootsies. I found a dress I loved, but I didn’t like the fact it was sleeveless. The seamstress used the fabric she cut off the bottom of the dress when hemming the dress to add flutter sleeves to the dress. You would never know the flutter sleeves weren’t part of the original design of the dress.

I love the first one, but would need to make sure the beading on the tummy doesn’t accentuate the area. But the beading does make it a bit for fancy, which is perfect if the men are wearing tuxedos.
How would you look in a dark green? I think that might blend nicely. Do you have samples of the colors you can take with you to make sure you don’t clash? Especially the sage, there are so many different hues available.
If the price is an issue, perhaps you could resell it to a high-end reseller/consignment shop. If you choose that route I’d do it as soon after the wedding as possible so that it is still in style.

That lavender dress is gorgeous. I wish I could wear it but my pudge is in the stomach so I don't think it would look right on me.
I don't really like the one with the cape look on top, the blue. That looks so 80s to me.

And that last dress is very plain IMHO I hadn’t thought about that! A cape sounded fancy and fun, but man, I gotta be able to eat!! Have you tried on any dresses by Teri Jon? You would never know the flutter sleeves weren’t part of the original design of the dress. I saw a dress or two on the Saks website that is a Teri Jon so definitely a possibility. I’ll have to see what I find over the next couple of weekends. This weekend is Saks and maybe Macy’s. I also like the adjustment you made. If it’s the right dress, it’ll be the right dress! peabay I have an appointment next week at the Simply Stunning Moms site you found. Excited and nervous about that! I’ll let you all know how it goes! Appreciate all the comments and suggestions. librarylady I love that purple dress but it’s too short! I saved it as a sleeve example of something I like though. I feel for my peas sisters who also feel they have the tummy pouch or bulge. That’s why I want to have an overview of what catches my eye but I definitely want to try stuff on. I thought about ordering a few online, trying them one, and sending them back if they didn’t work. However, I’m terrible about actually returning stuff and I want to at least narrow down what looks good on me before having to buy online. I have to suck it up (in more ways than one I suppose) and go try these dang things on in person!

Have some really good ideas of what you like - I did. I knew I didn't want sleeveless or short or too "mother of the bride-y" - and I'm happy with what I got!
