I’ve only had my Apple Watch for a month or so. I don’t have the cellular version. I like the convenience of pausing and rewinding the book that I am listening to when I’m walking, tracking my walks/heart rate, previewing texts, and getting notifications for texts, phone calls, etc. as others have said. But the best thing was the other day when I locked my keys/purse in my car after gassing up. I was able to text my sister and get her to call my son to bring me my extra key fob. After the fact, I realized that the Apple Watch has the FordPass app on it, and I literally could’ve opened my car door with my watch! 😄
(DS does not have an iPhone so I couldn’t text him. And I tried calling from the gas station but he didn’t pick up because he didn’t recognize the number. 🤪)

I have worn a watch since I was a kid. As a teacher, I always had one eye on my watch or the clock since I had to stay on time with my groups of kids and pacing my lessons with individuals. The rare times when a battery died or I forgot it were tough because I felt weird without it.
I did not buy the first Apple Watch because I didn’t want to switch from the “pretty” one that was also a piece of jewelry (the only one I regularly wore besides my wedding ring) but I got a Series 2, and haven’t been without one since. I currently have the Series 7.
I love a lot of the features others have mentioned. And I have had a bad fall where the watch caught it and then my phone followed up with making sure I was okay. I was glad to see that it worked as it was supposed to.
My brother had not worn a watch in years, and wasn’t sure he wanted to even try one. He is NOT tech-oriented at all. Once he had switched to an iPhone I set up the watch my late husband had had and had him try it out. He loves it and misses features if they get messed up sometimes. I usually have to trouble shoot for him, but he’s done things like accidentally put it on theatre mode so it doesn’t wake up when he raises his wrist.
He likes the tiny bit of advance notice before his phone rings, and it’s helpful as he is on dialysis and one arm is immobile for several hours during that process. He can get alerts and see them without having to pick up his phone.
I actually got him to try it because of the health functions, especially the ECG. He had an issue with aFib when his kidneys were failing due to an autoimmune disease. He’s never had it since, but it’s in his records that it happened and health care people will sometimes refer to it as if it’s an ongoing problem. This way he can periodically check it himself and tell/show them that it is NOT something he needs to be medicated for. He doesn’t use most of the features, but he wears it every day and likes it a lot.

I don’t have one but really want one. I have worn a watch every day since grade school so it’s definitely something I would use. Mother’s Day is coming up and I know I’m going to get chumped on a gift, so… LOL. One might have to just show up. 😉
My question for those who have one is how often do you have to charge it and for how long? I pretty much wear my regular watch every day, all day and night except if I’m in the shower or swimming, and I’d want to use the sleep tracking feature so I wouldn’t want to take it off at night.

I put mine on this morning at 5:00 a.m. and now at 9:25 p.m. it's still at 61% which would easily get it through the night. If I was going to wear it overnight I would get up and charge it first thing. I can't say exactly how long it takes but for sure it would be fully charged by 7:00 when I leave for school. It charges very fast. Or, if you read in bed before you go to sleep you could charge it then. Then put it back on before you turn off the light.

I have a Samsung Watch (to go with my Android phone,) and love it for all of the above reasons. Note, though, that I do not wear it to bed .

I got my Apple watch not too long after they came out. It can do as much, or as little, as you want it to. Cell service was a game changer for me. I can leave my phone home when I exercise. I still have access to my texts, phone, and can call 911 in an emergency, which I’ve actually done once.
The wallet can hokd credit cards, loyalty cards, airline boarding passes. I pay for Sbux with my wrist. I can control my music. I use the timer ALL THE TIME!!! If I’m using Apple Maps for directions, I can glance at my watch to see which direction is my next turn and the haptic lets me know when to turn.
It does so much more, but those are my most used tasks.

I charge mine at night. If I don’t work out, I can get by two days before charging. Otherwise, I charge every night. Mine is a few years old, so the battery life has shortened some.

I've had one since the first version, but really seldom use the features. I track my steps and catch the texts.
I really do have to learn how to use it properly.

I kind of want one for the fitness tracking, but I have a very tiny wrist and feel like it would be so bulky. My daughters both have one and they love it. I should ask to try one on.

I know the OP was asking about Apple Watches but I am an android person and I second the above. Except I do wear mine to bed. I like the sleep tracking. My DD has an Apple watch and her sleep tracking is pretty cool. Even gives her her breaths per minute, I think? It did give something extra that mine didn't do. I can take photos from my watch to phone, call, text, pay for items, listen to music. I haven't tried listening to books yet. I wonder if I can do that? The FordPass thing sounds really cool except that I have a Subaru. I wonder if there is something out there for that make? Off to go down rabbit holes now.

I was worried about the size too. Even the smallest face looked too big for my arm. But now, it doesn’t even bother me. Feels and looks totally normally to me.

I’ve worn a watch since grade school. Our parents gifted all of us kids new watches pretty regularly - usually Christmas or birthdays and mostly Timex. One of my very favorite watches was a man’s Times Expedition. I think I was in high school when I first started wearing men’s watches for the larger face size. My first dressier “nice” watch was a Seiko. My DH bought me a Mickey Mouse Seiko in Disney World. Love that watch. I still have all of my non-Apple watches.
My first Apple Watch was an Apple Watch Series 2. I purchased the 42 mm because I was used to wearing a man’s watch. I always felt that it was too large. When I upgraded to a series 5, I bought the smaller size which was a 40 mm. I much prefer the smaller size and really wish they would make the watch in a 38 mm size again. I gave my series 2 watch to my DH. He wore it maybe once or twice. He just doesn’t like it. He has a watch that his late grandfather (who he is named after) gave him for his high school graduation. I think the sentimental value of that watch far outweighs the convenience of the Apple Watch.
I have the cellular version of the watch and I love not having to have my phone on me all the time. I also use it for a lot of the reasons I already listed. I really would like to upgrade, but I’m waiting and hoping that Apple will eventually be able to invent a watch that does no-stick blood glucose monitoring.
I put mine on every morning at about 7 am. I do not sleep in it and take it off around 10 pm to charge. It usually still has at least 45% - 53% battery life left.

Biggest thing for me is that I always have my phone on silent, because I hate the noises it makes. But I missed a lot of calls that way. Now I always know when my phone is ringing or when a text comes in. I don't like having my phone on silent so the nice thing about the Apple Watch is when you are in close proximity to your phone and have the watch on the phone will not ring and the watch will buzz me instead. So I get the silent feature without having to turn my phone on silent (and then forget to change it back like after church or during a meeting). I'm also on board for many of the other reasons already listed I can answer my watch if I'm not in my office when it rings remote camera option health monitoring (I don't even utilize all of these functions - mainly just my steps - it is a great motivator to close the rings!) I love my Apple watch--I got it thinking it would be the easiest tracker for my workouts, along with being a watch(I wear one every day). It's so much more, and I know I don't use half (or more) of the features available. Mine is a series 3 and I won't replace it until it dies, but when I do, it will be whatever the latest Apple watch is.

I used to charge mine at night, but I wanted to use the sleep tracking and quiet alarm features. I do charge it every day. I have a charger plugged in next to the recliner where I watch TV and usually charge it in the evening while watching TV. It's fully charged in less than 30 minutes using the USB-C charger. I also have a charger on my desk at work, so sometimes, I'll charge it while I'm sitting in a meeting and not moving anywhere.

Huh. There are some really interesting points here. I might need to consider one. The tap to pay is intriguing. I just started using apple pay but pulling my phone out can be a pain sometimes. I also like the point of it tapping your wrist to turn when using Siri for directions.

I have a Fast Charger, and it works great. I use my watch for sleep tracking and an alarm, so I just charge it while I'm in the shower. When I go to bed, I put it in Theater Mode so it doesn't bother DH by lighting up every time I roll over - a side benefit is that it uses less battery that way. But when I wake up, I return it to the always-on mode.

I’m not able to carry my phone with me at work, so my Apple Watch is the next best thing. I’m also not able to wear an actual watch, so I keep it in a silicone case attached to my badge. I use it for communication with the outside world (I have cellular on it), as well as listening to books, podcasts, and music while working (I can wear one earbud). It really is an invaluable device for me at work, but my situation is unique as I do not wear it outside of work.

scrappinghappy , I don't have Apple Pay on my phone - I'm too paranoid that I'll lose the phone, and some rando will have the keys to the kingdom if they find it! But I have it on my watch. I only have one card loaded, so I don't have to scroll through payment options. I just double click, and BOOM through the turnstile I go! I have also been known to BOOM through the checkout at the wine store on a whim... The silent notifications are another favorite feature. My phone is permanently on Silent Mode, and it's great not to miss notifications, as others have said. My question for y'all is this: Does anyone find it worthwhile to have a watch with cell service? Mine works on wifi and needs to have my phone nearby. I haven't minded that at all, but I wonder if I'm missing out on anything fabulous. I'm not eager to pay the fee for an extra device on my cell plan, which is why I elected the wifi watch. elaine you’ve been paged. She may still be fixing dinner. Sorry, I don’t get home from teaching until 5:30 some nights! It is standardized testing right now, so thinks are even more nuts. I first got a watch with cellular when I was going through chemo and wanted to be able to make a call in an emergency if I didn’t have my phone. Then, my next watch didn’t have cellular and I was fine with that. My current watch does have cellular because I want the option of taking and making calls when I am at school. I don’t have my phone with me at all times, but air do have my watch. I take as many calls on my watch as I do on my phone - my phone automatically rings in both places (phone and watch). The sound is so good that no one on the other end thinks that I am on my watch. As a teacher, I use the timer feature every day. I run stations for math and it is easiest to set my timer for 15 minutes and know exactly when to tell the students to switch. I do not wear mine when I sleep. I have a cool bedside charger that magnetically charges my phone and also has a charger built-in for my watch.
