Happy that he was found liable. Unfortunately, his lawyers already said he will appeal. And they're claiming Trump can't get a fair trial in NYC www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2023/05/09/e-jean-carroll-trump-trial-verdict/Trump attorney Joe Tacopina said his client is “firm in his belief that you can’t get a fair trial in New York,” given the makeup of the jury. Tacopina, speaking to reporters outside the courthouse, did not elaborate on Trump’s comment about the nine-person jury of three women and six men, the majority of them people of color.
Tacopina also said there were “plenty of issues to appeal,” including the decision to allow the infamous “Access Hollywood” tape to be presented to jurors, where Trump can be heard bragging about grabbing women’s genitals without consent.
When asked if he thought having an anonymous jury was fair, Tacopina replied, “No, I didn’t, actually,” noting that even in mob trials the judge and attorneys at least know the identity of the jurors.

And Trump's camp regrettably will claim they won because the jury found Ms Carroll did not prove rape. www.nytimes.com/live/2023/05/09/nyregion/trump-carroll-rape-trial-verdictMr. Trump’s lawyer, Joseph Tacopina, said outside the courthouse that his client would appeal. “Strange verdict,” he said. “This was a rape claim, this was a rape case all along and the jury rejected that, made other findings. We’ll obviously be appealing those other findings.”

I missed this detail, I didn't realize Trump's lawyer tried to claim that Carroll's account was based on a Law & Order show. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/05/09/trump-e-jean-carroll-verdict-justice/Tacopina hammered the argument that Carroll’s account was based on a 2012 “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” episode in which a woman is raped in a dressing room in the lingerie section of Bergdorf’s. “They modeled their secret scheme on an episode of one of the most popular shows on television,” Tacopina said. Some scheme. If you were going to invent a story, wouldn’t you actually invent one — or, if you couldn’t manage that, pick a more obscure example? Tacopina’s claim also asked jurors to conclude that not only Carroll but also her two friends concocted a false story and perjured themselves.

Well, Tapioca is wrong. Trump was pissed mostly because Leeds and Stoynoff were allowed to testify about their own experiences of sexual assault by him, and the Access Hollywood tape could be played for the jury. But those are neither defective rulings nor an indication that Judge Kaplan is unfair or biased. It’s called propensity evidence. Although this type of evidence is inadmissible because it’s prejudicial, in a federal civil case of sexual assault such as this, it IS admissible. It’s also allowed in a federal criminal case involving sexual assault. It’s the same thing with child molestation. As long as it has probative value in proving the tendency of the defendant to commit that specific crime, then it’s fair game. So, a prior comparable crime of sexual assault by Trump (i.e., against Leeds and Stoynoff) and a tape that illustrates predilection to same (i.e., “…grab them by the p***y”) being admitted do not violate the rules of propensity evidence in any way whatsoever. Tapioca knows this. It's impossible that he doesn't. But I suppose he'll try, anyway.

Surely his own deposition recording with him saying that yes, he considers himself a celebrity, and that he stands by his "grab them by the p***y" comments--that it is "largely true... unfortunately or fortunately" was pretty damning. And that he used the "she's not my type" defense, but then thought that a photograph of Carroll was of his former wife.
If the rape took place in 1995ish (and Carroll told friends about it then) and the Law and Order episode aired in 2012, it seems possible that the show could be imitating life and the writers had heard about Carroll's rape. Or she's not the first--sadly, we know that it also more than possible.
I think this is a good of a verdict as we can hope for without any physical evidence. Unfortunately, it will remain in the courts with one appeal after another.

I’d say fantastic but he’ll never pay. He weasels out of everything
AND, he will still bad mouth her too.
She wasn’t even really vindicated. And I understand that, it was long ago etc.
but it doesn’t help my crumbling faith in the Justice system
