It is our May long weekend in Canada. We were hoping to be outside, working in the yard. Temperatures are nice and warm. But we woke up to choking smoke from the wildfires and there is ash falling, collecting on the BBQ (where we can see it). In other words, not recommended to be outside, it’s a health hazard.
Our cats are so confused, it’s nice out but we won’t take them outside.
The smoke is supposed to be the same tomorrow but, fingers crossed, rain on Monday.
I am just grumping, I hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

I'm in Denver and we have terrible air quality from the fires in Canada. Hoping to fires clearing soon.

It's a not so funny joke here in Northern California that the seasons go Spring, Summer, Smoke, Fall, Winter. It sucks. I'm sorry you're not able to enjoy the outdoors right now.

I'm sorry. Such a shame to have a long weekend ruined. I hope these fires ease soon. Far too early in the year for this.

I’m sorry that your weekend won’t be spent outside. We are in Minneapolis and the air quality has been up and down all week, depending on the direction of the wind. Hopefully they can get the fires under control soon.

Sorry you are stuck inside. I hope the fires end soon. It is way too early for wildfires. I hope the rain comes and helps with the fires and helps clean the air.

I’m out in BC but friends and family in Calgary have posted photos of the smoke. It’s been terrible. A little blew into the Okanagan on Wednesday but it’s pretty much gone now. Stay safe and I hope it rains!

Hopefully they can get the fires under control soon. That’s how it’s been for us too in the eastern greater metro. It’s been hurting my kid’s throat and making her cough so bad I thought she had strep, but got her tested and nope. Has to be from the poor air quality and the gym teacher making them go outside for class this week.

We woke up to terrible air quality here this morning as well, and it got steadily worse all day. I hate to complain since we are not dealing with active fires or being evacuated, but dd who has asthma has been wearing an N-5 mask all day. My eyes are burning.
Really praying for rain. And SOON... Enough to douse the fires and give the crews a chance to get the spread under control. Also, the ground is bone dry, so all the fields and gardens need moisture to start growing. But the highest likelihood of rain here is 60% on Tuesday.

It's so awful. Last night the wind shifted and it got even worse here and the smell was the worst it's been. Tonight the smell has gone done but still just as hazy. The houses across the street are hazy.
So many fires, so many evacuees, houses lost. We're just surrounded up here in the NW (of Alberta).

I really feel for all my family and friends in Alberta. The pictures they are sharing are horrible. We are in BC, in an area that is usually choked out with smoke July and August, so I know how they are feeling but man it’s only May. This early crazy heat is making me nervous for our fire season too. Hoping everyone affected by the fires get some rain soon.

Living in Colorado, I'm sad to say, we have experienced the smoke from fires. Way too many. Praying the firefighters can get the fire contained quickly. Sorry about having to stay inside on your long weekend and nice weather. After a long winter, the body craves that fresh air and sunshine. {{{Hugs}}}

So sorry you are dealing with this 🙁 I live in N California where our fire season is usually late summer/early Fall. We are going to Glacier NP next month, and it never occurred to us that there could be smoke there this early! We’ve had this trip planned for a year, and will be so disappointed if we can’t hike and see the beauty! Hoping and praying for we all don’t have a bad fire season this year.

This is very early for fires here. 459 hectares had burned by this time last year, more than 842,000 hectares have burned so far this year. If we don’t start getting some rain, it’s going to be a very long fire season.
The air is not quite as awful this morning, so we are trying to get some cool air.
Stay safe, fellow Albertans and BCers.

We are getting the smoke from the Canadian wildfires here in Minnesota. Last Thursday it was horrible. The weather forecast is for us to deal with it off/on all summer.
At least we are getting pretty sunrises and sunsets.

I'm in Denver and we have terrible air quality from the fires in Canada. Hoping to fires clearing soon. Yes, our air quality was 162 on Saturday and the visibility was awful. The Canadian fire was huge at 1.2 million acres. Yikes. We took the Cog Railway up to the summit of Pike's Peak and at about 11,000 feet we actually saw some sunshine. That lasted for a good 7 minutes when the snow pellets started hitting the cars and turned into a lovely blizzard. Today we have some sun mixed with less smoke.

I can't imagine being there. The smoke affected us for 3 days in Nebraska.
