I'm sure its just a money thing, but wasn't HBO always the most popular movie channel? On twitter, they are calling Max "the New Coke" and people ain't happy with the rebrand. LOL

Not sure, but we had HBOMAX, and there is a series I want to watch. I can’t access it. It tells me I need to connect with my provider. We don’t have one.

So, that you would have one more chore to do (creating a login) before you watched Succession. LOL.

I haven't jumped on my channel since the change. What is the series? I thought the commercials promoting the name change stated we would still have all the stuffs. We have Dish so no access to HBO.

It’s a People Magazing series…I think it’s true crime.

I think they changed it because they have a lot more than just "HBO" programming, such as The Big Bang Theory & Friends and they want to be known for more than just HBO programs

They merged Discovery+ together with HBOMax. That’s why they changed the name.

It merged with Discovery--now I can enjoy the old TLC goodies like Cake Boss & Say Yes to the Dress. There's other channels too like Magnolia & Food Network.

Re: merging discovery +.
I thought they were only moving some discovery + to the new MAX platform/app? And that there still would be a discovery + streaming option. My dh said we would probably drop discovery+ streaming and want to up our MAX streaming one by $5 to get 4k I think.
I just had to download the new MAX app and sign in with our original credentials.

are they dropping the "HBO" part from their name? if so, i think that's a dumb move. HBO was their recognizable brand. everyone uses Max. just using that is not going to distinguish them from a large herd.

I have heard a lot of people complaining about the change. We don’t watch stuff on Discovery so it would mean paying extra I guess. I liked HBOMAX when we had it but there wasn’t enough content as they didn’t have a lot of shows that were on HBO and have heard they are dropping more.
I am not a fan of all the changes on streaming services lately. A bunch of movies snd series dropping from Hulu and Disney+ and even Paramount+ I keep seeing ads in FB and the shows in the ads have already been dropped months ago 🤦♀️

The guy who figures out that putting one fewer olive in a jar being sold at the same price to the supermarkets will save a fraction of a cent per jar for the company gets a title-only-promotion. The boss who profits from that guy's idea makes enough to spend his days yachting with his mistress.

It's really weird to me that they would want to do away with the premium "HBO" brand. But it's a mixture of shows from different companies so I guess they thought it would be to their benefit to not call it an HBO product. Personally it reminds me of old school cable packages. There's too much stuff and it seems disorganized. I'd rather my discovery brand content be on Discovery + and my HBO content be on HBO Max and pay separately for what I want to subscribe to.

Thanks for the heads up. I was in my HBO app a few nights ago watch SATC. I would have had no clue why my app wasn't opening just now! Just downloaded the new blue Max app. Kinda weird but, whatever.
