Who’s watching?
Wow……
I almost can’t believe that they got one of the kids to be so frank. I’ve got to think that this is her ties with the family well and truly broken.

I have watched two episodes and am hoping to get to the others this weekend. I recently saw that Jill also has a book coming out soon.

A friend was just talking tonight about watching this and the bizarro world of a cult they were. Or are. Can't decide if I want to watch.

I watched the first two episodes last night, and will definitely keep watching. Now, keep in mind that my only prior knowledge of the Duggars comes from here and Fundie Fridays on YouTube, so this was a real eyeopener for me. I think Jill was very brave, speaking out for this program and agree that she is probably now completely estranged from her family. The other ex-IBLP members were equally compelling. I hope that more of the children can escape this family and overcome the years of brainwashing they have endured.

My husband is out of town, so I binged watched the whole thing. Here are my impressions (spoiler warning):
The home schooling curriculum (or lack thereof) was what I found most shocking.
I also thought it was pretty appalling when they played the old clip of Michelle saying something to the effect of “I’m my child’s buddy while they are breast feeding and then I pass them off to the child who is next in line to receive a buddy.”
And then there was the couple whose daughter was courting Josh when the story broke about Josh molesting his sisters. When they asked Jim Bob why he didn’t tell their daughter, Jim Bob said “I was going to have Josh tell her after they were married.”
And the clip of Jim Bob referring to Josh’s molestation of his sisters as Josh being “curious about girls” was truly sickening.

I finished it last night. Jim Bob is a creep, through and through. I can't imagine being Jill (or any of the kids, for that matter), stepping outside the world in which they were raised, and realizing how truly f-ed up it was. That's a lifetime of therapy, right there. I'm wondering if the kids who are still living the life will start to break away after Jill and Jinger have. It'll be interesting to observe!

It's worse than I thought, the IBLP schooling. And Michelle saying she was going to talk to God instead of Josh??? Really?

What about the political implications? Is that what we are seeing with the GOP?
What is DeSantis’ background? Seriously, he wife is as creepy as he is. Stepford wife territory.
A family member did some strange things with regards to their children. The ever present wooden spoon and absolute obedience. I now wonder what the method was they used. I was told but completely not interested. They are also Uber Baptist.
Having been raised in a cult and left, my heart goes out to the ex-members. There are so many of us ex-cult members that would benefit from banding together. Seems to be only a small minority reaching across ex-cult lines.
LDS, FLDS, JW, Amish, Scientology, IBLP, and far too many more. If cult is too strong, how about High Control Group.
No boundaries, Obedience, fear, and CSA kept/dealt with in house is a fertile ground for abuse and CSA.
Steven Hasan has a good book regarding High control groups. He is a former Moonie. Can’t remember what his field is. He got out, got an education, and is now speaking and writing about high control groups.

I just started episode 3, it's a pretty fascinating show. Having never followed the Duggars I wasn't sure what to expect but I like how many different people are involved in explaining the IBLP. I am surprised that more of the Duggar kids aren't involved with this show being what they were put through. The brainwashing is just too strong I guess.

Not one of those Duggar kids will ever be “normal”. They have all been permanently mentally damaged, some more than others. It is so sad.

It was heartbreaking and absolutely frightening to watch. The frightening part is seeing how they're playing the long game and grooming their kids to be these scary fundies and get into politics.

Where are you watching it? You can also download the Freevee app and watch it there. They only have 3 episodes released right now. That's where I'm watching as we don't have Prime.

I will admit to watching them in the past. I knew they were deep in their zealous religion but at the time I just blew it off to like the deep southern religious Baptist type religion. But realized it was much more than that as time passed on and stuff started coming out. I worry about all those younger ones still at home.. they don't have much of any options right now. And Jana? Why doesn't she leave? And poor Amy, the cousin, who truly seems too love her extended family even though she knew they were in that cult... Creepy Jim Bob needs to be in jail with the sick Josh.
