I’ve been asked to teach a card class. It started with someone wanting to borrow a Cricut for a craft night, so that those who didn’t sign up for either of the main craft projects could make a card with the Cricut. They had no idea how a Cricut even works, and it morphed into my doing an actual card class. I talked them out of a Cricut on site, because there would be people waiting doing nothing while the machine cut. While I use my electronic cutter for card making, I don’t think I have ever made a card that was done exclusively with it. I’m wondering if I should show one, so they can see the difference between cards made exclusively by machine vs. with stamps, dies, etc. We’ll be making 3 cards, and I have prepared the kits ahead of time. If I show a card made just with the electronic cutter, it would be more of a visual thing, rather than me making a 4th card kit. I just think that cards made solely with an electronic cutter are……okay, but not amazing. You can dress them up with stamped images and other stuff, but without the extra fun stuff, most are not that impressive.
Opinions?
And if you think I should also make a card made exclusively with an electronic cutter, can you please show me an image or add a link to one you think is really nice? Thanks!

If these people are not usually card-makers/scrappers, then no I wouldn't show a Cricut or a Cricut only card. They will all want to try it and the software can be complicated for some people, they will have to wait while it cuts, etc. I also would not let someone borrow my electronic cutter, because I don't have a dedicated laptop to give them so they could use the software. Plus I don't want to worry about it. I think you are very accommodating to make three card kits and teach a class. If you wanted to make a card using only the Cricut, I would do one of those cards from a few years back with the stacked layers. Like this

Thanks for your thoughts on this. I won’t be taking the machine, so it won’t matter if they want to try it or not. Most, if not all, have at least heard of a Cricut.
I like that card design you linked. I even have it in my Silhouette library.
As for the kits, I can always turn in a receipt and be reimbursed, if I need to, but I used papers from Tuesday Morning, which I have in great abundance. The kits cost me very little other than time. Pre-COVID, I taught a free card class in my home to friends from church. I used to teach card making and other paper crafts at the LSS years ago. Yes, it’s a lot of work to prep, but DH works from home, and I’m retired, and I love seeing others’ reactions as they make the cards. I enjoy teaching cards and other crafts. I miss it.
