How do you treat yourself after a hard day, a long week, 2023... without food (need to lose weight...), and without filling the house with "stuff" (scrapbook supplies and books are my weakness.)
I need ideas, and possibly a two week vacation to a deserted island by myself. Of course I'd need books and food to survive...

I like to scrapbook so definitely buying supplies is a treat but using them can be a treat too! I go on my scrap room and play music and don’t think about any of my responsibilities. Some times I find it soothing just to sort through my supplies and look at old completed pages. I also like hot baths with a good book, curling up on the couch with my comfort shows I like watching over and over, or going for a drive. I know you’re saying you’re trying to lose weight but another of my treats is small portions of high quality favorites-so one piece of Godiva chocolate or a small glass of expensive champagne. When I have time, I love a pedicure as a treat.

I love to read, so I will buy an inexpensive book for the kindle or go to the library. I also love Sheetz or McDonald's diet coke and iced tea, so I often stop by for a drink!

My summer "treat" is having a pedi every second or third week. If you enjoy them, it is a lovely way to indulge oneself that doesn't cost and arm and a leg (and doesn't add to clutter in the home)!

I do a lot of beauty treatments that always make me feel good - pedicures (try a light blue or lavender), gel nails, facials, massages etc.
I also love a good yoga class, a good book and a good glass of wine!

Book a facial and/or a massage at the full service spa just 5 minutes from my home. I head over in the morning and stay until at least 5 pm. Lots of amenities to enjoy, as well as ordering lunch inside or drinks/snacks by the outdoor soaking pools. If the budget allows, I'll add on a pedicure. It's the closest I can come to a 2 week vacation on a deserted island without getting on a plane!

For a hard/long week...I get up early and take a Saturday drive to a town (within 90 minutes) that I have never been to before. I look around, take photos, see what kind of history I can uncover. I like to go early before things get busy and there are a lot of people around. I did this last weekend and accidentally stumbled across 2 different covered bridges and a church built in 1794 and I explored the cemetery there and discovered the burial place for a state governor who served 2 terms in the early 1800s. It is just so relaxing to me to drive the back roads (thank you GPS), see the cattle and planted fields and discover some place new.
After a long/rough day, I tend to just take a nice shower, find a good movie to stream (even if I've seen it before) and crochet/knit.

Audiobook or kobo book from the library. If it's a new book and the wait is long, I'll buy it from audible. I don't like collecting books unless they're reference books. Sometimes, I order my favourite, overpriced pizza

Reflexology...we like it better than massages.

Flowers. I refuse to feel guilty if I pick up a bunch of tulips or daisies at the shops.

We like activity type rewards, actually we like to give and receive them as gifts in general. Sporting event, theater show, concert, etc.

Flowers. I refuse to feel guilty if I pick up a bunch of tulips or daisies at the shops. This is how I like to add a little bit of happy to my daily life. DH had gotten them for me occasionally just because for a while and I always enjoyed them. But during COVID we started to get some every week or two and found it really did bring me a bit of joy each time I passed the area(s). So now we probably get them 2 or 3 times a month. One of the places I like them best is the bathroom, I’m in there frequently enough .

Lately, we had unbelievably nice weather (until the wildfires) so I'd take a book and go sit in the backyard and read. I get a massage. Pedis are rewarding, manis are weak nail maintenance. I know you said no food, but what I've been doing is trying to recreate a good, healthy dish I had at a restaurant, or I think of what ingredients I'm craving and make a salad with them.

During the summer, we (DH & I) seek out area outdoor Arts & Craft/ Handmade Arts weekend Festivals. We’ll drive as much as an hour or so away. Grab a drink and stroll around the vendor tents, enjoy being with each other, talk about any and everything - and buy nothing. We’ll then find a new-to-us, hole in the wall quaint little restaurant for a light bite to eat. We used to do that a lot until life, DH’s job and Covid got in the way. He now has a new job where he never has to work nights or weekends, the grandson is done with baseball and hockey and will be driving himself everywhere, and all the area festivals are now back to being held. It’s going to be a good summer.

After a hard day, I like to curl up in the evening with a book and a blanket, TV off.
After a hard week, I like to do a long walk or hike. Pack a lunch and water and go to one of our favorite places.
Sometimes just hanging out in the yard watching birds and just listening to the sounds of nature is like pushing my reset button. (that sounds kind of weird but it's one of my favorite things to do)

Honestly, I really enjoy a good nap most of the time. I feel like I’m always tired and a nap helps take the edge off. Other than that I like to head down to my studio and make something fun.

Here’s an article about it from Yale, but there are heaps more around: How immersion in nature benefits health

I like to have some uninterrupted time, preferably by myself, to read, knit, embroider - those sorts of things. Depending on the time and situation it might be for an hours, or several hours, or even several days.
I have sometimes gone away by myself, and stayed in an on-site caravan or cheap cabin in a camping ground by a beach. Anywhere from 3 to 7 days. I take all my food etc so that the only times I leave the caravan or cabin are to go for walks. No interaction with anyone else at all - bliss; and I come back really rejuvenated.
As a confirmed introvert, anything involving other people, especially close contact like a pedi/manicure or massage, would add to my stress, not reduce it.

I do save up (more time than anything) to take short solo trips--eg, I took a quick one to SF last week, just for two nights. Looking forward to the next one helps me get through rough work patches and moody kids.

If I were treating myself, something decadent and fattening would be involved. Ice cream, chocolate, and Bundt cake make everything better. Non fattening ways to treat myself: Feet up and elevated. I use Bath Body Works Eucalyptus hand cream on my feet. It makes them feel so good. Cup or two or three of hot tea. Quiet, no noise. I have sensory issues, being home in the quiet and calm is very relaxing for me. Reading. A nap.

I definitely don’t need any more stuff so I try to keep my treats to consumables. A new body wash, face mask, candle, get a pedicure, massage, go to the hot springs, go to a movie. In the spring it is always flowers for my big planters. I also really enjoy giving to people so sometimes I will just buy something for someone else and that’s s treat to me. Or a toy for my dog. Sometimes just buying extra to stock up is a treat. I know it sounds silly but getting something for a good sale price and stocking up brings me joy. Lol

A massage! With extra time for a scalp massage!
I get pedicures pretty regularly but as a treat I would possibly "upgrade" to a fancier/longer pedicure.

Honestly, if I have had a stressful day, week, etc, my batteries get depleted. The only good way to recharge for me is to have zero human interaction with another human being. Of course that only works for about a few hours before that plan gets interrupted. I also will go get a mani/pedi or head to the Chinese foot spa. But most importantly, the thing that stresses me out the most is my job, so I completely cut the cord once I've left the building. I know it's sort of a "head in the sand" approach, but almost everything can wait until I get back in the office.

It’s important to create work/home boundaries.

I take pottery classes. It is super expensive to have your own set up (kiln, wheel, wedging table, storage, etc), so I am forced to get out of the house once a week for 3 hours each time. It isn't a daily thing, but I could do it 4 days a week if I wanted! I took the classes, now go to open studio once a week until I can get into another class over the summer.
It literally forces me to take time for me. I get to be creative and messy, without a bunch of "stuff" cluttering my house (have enough of that in my studio in the basement lol), and gets me out of the house.

Flowers. I refuse to feel guilty if I pick up a bunch of tulips or daisies at the shops. I do that quite often since DH passed away. I deserve them. I blame Miley Cyrus and her song, Flowers, ha ha!
