Will 'normal' Republican voters still vite for him? The likes of Jordan, MTG, Comer (shudder) etc all leave me perplexed. I heard one Rep say they didn't care whether Biden was guilty if anything they will 'get him' anyway. I can't help feeling the timing is really bad. It's taken so pong- I appreciate they had to make sure they had the evidence but it looks to his base like it's just tined to hut him in the leaf up to 2024.
On a silly note, wouldn't you just love to see what his prison hair would look like?

On a silly note, wouldn't you just love to see what his prison hair would look like? It is too bad that it has taken so long. OTOH, I will be very surprised if the case against him is not airtight. We are at a crossroads, and I am pleased that so far the rule of law is working. At the same time, Trumpers are outraged-no big shock. I thought that Mark Levin, a very loud conservative pundit, was going to have a stroke, and I am not joking. And Trumpers could cause lots of problems going forward. But the rest of us cannot cave to a crowd of folks who have been trained to feed on outrage. What would be really helpful would be if a really good writer would put the charges against Trump into simple language that could be easily understood by all. Would that sink in to his most devoted fans? No, of course not. But there are other voters who might be persuaded that Trump is bad news. At any rate, we can hope. 🤞🏻 Even if another Republican were to get elected and would pardon him, Trump’s capacity to wreak havoc would be limited, and that would be a win. And yes, I would love to see his prison hair. ☺️

It just proves the original statement - Trump can do anything and get away with it with his supporters. But not with the justice system.

He can still run as you said, and even if convicted and jailed he could still run, I believe. I think he could actually serve from jail. Isn't that insane?

Call me when he is convicted. Yes I have to say, I’m not going to hold my breath. Ironic that Trump said the democrats are wasting time they should be working on the ‘broken economy’ persecuting him. Firstly, your economy appears to be doing pretty well- esp in comparison to most of Europe. Secondly isn’t that exactly what the Rep house members are doing?

Personally, I think we are a long way from a conviction. And if a Republican wins in 2024 they will likely pardon trump.
That being said, if there is a smoking gun, it's trump on tape admitting he took classified documents.

Cannon was given the initial DOJ v Trump case.. didn't waste any time.. And TFG and his people knew last night, because the judges' names were on the summons they received from the DOJ. The summons sent to former President Donald Trump and his legal team late Thursday indicates that U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon will be assigned to oversee his case, at least initially, according to sources briefed on the matter. Cannon's apparent assignment would add yet another unprecedented wrinkle to a case involving the first federal charges against a former president: Trump appointed Cannon to the federal bench in 2020, meaning that, if Trump is ultimately convicted, she would be responsible for determining the sentence – which may include prison time – for the man who elevated her to the role. A federal grand jury voted to indict Trump on at least seven federal charges late Thursday as part of an investigation into his handling of classified documents, sources familiar with the matter told ABC News. The indictment comes after more than 100 documents with classified markings were found at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in August 2022. Trump has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and claimed again late Thursday that he was innocent. Cannon is no stranger to the case. The 42-year-old judge appointed a "special master" last year to review those materials seized from Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate. Legal experts accused Cannon of handing Trump a series of head-scratching victories over the course of those proceedings. *** Judges in most federal cases are assigned at random. But the apparent nods to Cannon and Reinhart on the summons for Trump might actually reflect the fact that both have already played roles in the proceedings, experts said. "If the case is being overseen by the same district and magistrate judges, that means the court likely considered the indictment to be 'related' to the search warrant and intentionally assigned it to those judges," former senior Justice Department national security official Brandon Van Grack told ABC News. ABC News was provided a case number that was part of the written summons and according to the federal court filing system PACER, that case number matches a docket under "Judge AMC." Cannon's full name is Aileen Mercedes Cannon. abcnews.go.com/US/judge-aileen-cannon-trump-appointee-initially-assigned-oversee/story?id=99956910*** Speculation is that the jury pool will be drawn from Miami-Dade area, which is less conservative then Palm City area ...

I understand feeling underwhelmed and thinking call me when he’s convicted. But Trump being indicted in this case is important. His cult followers won’t be swayed by anything, I’m honestly sad to say there’s no reaching them.
Our system of justice says no one is above the law and we all know how untrue that statement can be. So to me, the fact that the federal government has indicted him, based on a grand jury of our peers, means something
Do I hold out hope he’ll be convicted in one of these cases? Not sure. I need to see the evidence first. But damn, at least lady liberty’s scales aren’t fully on the side of the privileged today
ETA- I told my DH last night, if Spiro Agnew hadn’t been let off to get him out of the Vice Presidency, then Ford pardoning Nixon so quickly, I also don’t think we’d be in this mess. Both men were had so much evidence stacked against them it’s hard to imagine some conviction wouldn’t have happened. It’s led to this horrible fallacy that Vice/President’s are untouchable.

Rep Clay Higgins(R-LA) may have just called for civil war... Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) mystified many social media users with his response to Donald Trump's indictment, but one militia expert interpreted his tweet as a call to arms. The Louisiana Republican tweeted out a seemingly inscrutable message Thursday after the former president confirmed he had been indicted in the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case, but award-winning journalist and author Jeff Sharlet saw the message as a violent threat.Higgins Tweet "President Trump said he has 'been summoned to appear at the Federal Courthouse in Miami on Tuesday, at 3 PM,'" Higgins tweeted. "This is a perimeter probe from the oppressors. Hold. rPOTUS has this. Buckle up. 1/50K know your bridges. Rock steady calm. That is all."Clay Higgins using militia speak, referencing military grade maps, & telling Trumpers to 'know your bridges,' recall that Canadian far rightists held border bridges recently in a tense stand off," Sharlet warned. "This is on the table." Sharlet went through and defined the phrases the congressman deployed and determined he was calling for a "county-level insurrection" in response to Trump's federal indictment, which Higgins characterized as an act of war. "Take this seriously," Sharlet said. “'Perimeter probe': Higgins thinks indictment precedes bigger attack. 'rPOTUS': real POTUS,' Trump. 'Hold': 'stand back & stand by.' 'Buckle up': prepare for war. '1/50 k': military scale maps. 'Know your bridges': militia speak for prepare to seize bridges." www.rawstory.com/rep-clay-higgins/*** If you think Higgins is rational read about him: Clay Higgins Turned in His Badge, Twice, Before Campaigning for Congress as a Celebrity Cop.As Clay Higgins gears up his reelection campaign, social unrest over the police killings of unarmed African Americans are forcing a reassessment of his record on racial justice, both as a member of Congress and a one-time celebrity cop. www.bayoubrief.com/2020/07/13/after-using-unnecessary-force-against-an-unarmed-black-man-he-turned-in-his-badge-now-hes-a-two-term-congressman/By Lamar White, Jr. - July 13, 2020

TFG aide Nauta also indicted.. guess this is where conspiracy comes to light.. An aide to former President Donald Trump has also been indicted for taking part in an alleged scheme to obstruct government efforts to retrieve top-secret documents from his Mar-a-Lago resort. Wall Street Journal reports that Walt Nauta, a former military valet who followed Trump to Mar-a-Lago after working in the Trump White House, has also been charged. The WSJ report notes that Nauta "has long been a focus" of the investigation into Trump's handling of classified documents "after he was seen on surveillance footage moving boxes from a storage room before and after investigators issued a May subpoena seeking the return of all government documents in Trump’s possession." www.rawstory.com/walt-nauta-indicted/

TFG Attorney Jim Trusty states he has resigned from the TFG's legal group. TFG states he fired him!! *** Attorneys Jim Trusty and John Rowley resigned from his team, they said in a statement Friday. Todd Blanche, who had resigned from an elite law firm to represent him on New York fraud charges, will appear in court with Trump along with attorney Chris Kise and a third lawyer who has not yet been added to the case, the ex-president announced on Truth Social. Greatest Witch Hunt of all time, now moving to the Florida Courts, I will be represented by Todd Blanche, Esq., and a firm to be named later," Trump said. "I want to thank Jim Trusty and John Rowley for their work, but they were up against a very dishonest, corrupt, evil, and 'sick' group of people, the likes of which has not been seen before. We will be announcing additional lawyers in the coming days. When will Joe Biden be Indicted for his many crimes against our Nation? MAGA!"

“I have the right to take stuff”
“Secret. This is secret information. Look, look at this”
“The was done by the military and given to me”.
The above comments you never want to hear from the President of the United States.
No President has the “right” to take stuff.
When someone says “Look, look at this, this is secret information”. This to me shows this individual doesn’t understand the importance of “secret “ information but instead sees it as something he or she can wave around to make themselves look important. And that’s trump, always wanting to make himself look important. Only insecure people do that. A characteristic you don’t want to see in the President of the United States.
”The military made this for me” like it was some gift made especially for trump and had no other purpose except to make trump feel important.
This country may have to rethink automatically giving a president security clearance.
