I haven't seen anyone chatting about it here but my IG and YT feeds are full of examples of the new Solar Paste! It looks like they gave samples to a lot of different people for this launch and it's been interesting to see them play with it. If you haven't seen it it's a pale, almost white paste shot through with different iridescent colors Really bold on black cardstock, subtle on white, pastel on kraft, and very shimmery on embossed designs. Simon's launch video was really interesting, explaining why it comes in a limited color palette. Basically you can tint it with your dye re-inkers to change the white base into another color but the iridescent mica in it will retain its own color, so you can mix the same blue re-inker with the different pastes and get a blue shot with gold, or shot through with red, or purple, or green, etc. That sounded really cool! I don't have any of the lunar pastes but watching Simon and others play with the solar pastes I wanted to get some of each. Maybe a gold and a red for Christmas cards? Which would you get if you didn't want to get them all? Here's Simon's launch video: and Ardyth has a video which is also about the learning curve when starting to play with a new product:

I watched the video Nancy Stamps did and told my dd about how cool they looked. Within the hour I received a shipping notice from scrapbook.com for the set of 6! She surprises me all the time with things like this, I can't wait to play!

I like using pastes and but I don’t use them enough to justify spending the money for the different colors or finding the space to store them. I’m a DIY type, I use gloss gel medium and add a few drops of reinkers to mix just what I need in the color I want. I’m pretty sure I can duplicate the lunar paste with iridescent mica powder added to iridescent gel. I plan on carving out some time later tonight or tomorrow to experiment.

I would get the purple for sure.
I have some of the lunar paste and I spread it on white cardstock and cut out different die cuts with it. I can’t explain it but it just looks really cool. Gave my page the umpf it needed.

She surprises me all the time with things like this, I can't wait to play! Awww, now that is a very sweet daughter! I've seen snippets of it over the last day or so. TBH, I hardly play with my lunar pastes. I have silver, gold, a lovely blue that came in last fall's C+CD, and then a burgundy that came in the spring C+CD. I've only used the burgundy and the blue once, for their respective classes. I need hands on, in person learning to get me excited about messy, mixed media stuff like this. A series of 4 classes over a month in person might get me amped up. Same with things like collages and the like. It's hard for me to "let go" with stuff like that. The only thing I've used lunar paste for is on stencils. The solar paste looks lovely, but someone is going to have to really sell it to me For those doing the fall C+CD, I'll bet Simon uses it during his class. Y'all will have to tell us all about it!

I have some HA glitter paste that came in a Joann HA monthly kit. Then I did an HA Stamp Along where they used a similar paste with a simple background stencil. That's about as adventurous with paste as I plan to get. That said, this solar paste stuff seems particularly apt for that sort of application. Might ponder.

I have some of the luna pastes. And also some TCW stencil butter in spring hues. I watched Simon's video on the solar pastes and decided I can resist as of now. Red and gold would look good on Christmas cards, I think, joblackford. If I ordered two, it would be the blue and the green because I like those colours, but still not sure how I would use them. Maybe too subtle for me... But thinking they would look better on black than on white.

Simon is really good at demoing the products. I like how he added the Solar Paste over the Lunar Paste on the embossed image. I am intrigued, but I haven't used the pastes I own. If the LSS has them in stock, I may pick up one or two since I have GC to use up.

Jennifer McGuire has a video out too - I watched that the other day. I’m intrigued but will wait to see if we get some in the fall card event C&CD. I usually use the transparent paste for cards but have also used the lunar blue. I’m impatient and don’t like to wait for them to dry. LOL

I've had bad experiences with all the pastes drying out in the jars, so now I use only Golden's texture/modeling/molding paste. I add color with re-inkers or Gelatos (remember those?), glitter, and Perfect Pearls powders (remember those too?). Golden's products don't dry out in my experience, and I've been using them for over 20 years.

I’d much rather spend $5.99 for reinkers (already have the pads anyhow) then spend it on a jar of paste that may end up in the trash. Besides, with the reinkers I can also make my own distress oxide and shimmer sprays.

Ok, I have had fun playing and a little goes a LONG way! I haven't tried it with stencils yet, that's tomorrows fun. They dry quickly and made it easy to finish without waiting. I'm not sure if the product in the jars with dry out fast only time will tell. The other thing I like is that it doesn't require "sealing", as it doesn't rub off once dried.
I tried it on black, chocolate, navy and dark gray. The colors popped on each one!

I watched a Jennifer McGuire video where she used them for very subtle effects and I was quite taken.
I am thinking that I might try storing paste jars in sealed plastic containers. Although, sure, dry out more slowly but also more out of sight/mind.
