I'm trying to reduce the clutter on my nightstand and would like to get rid of my old alarm clock. However, I like to be able to check the time when I wake up in the middle of the night. Is there an app or way to set my phone so that it displays a large clock all night? I've tried googling, but I'm not seeing anything. The one suggestion they gave was too small.

The new iOS 17 will have a nightstand mode. It comes out in mid-September. For now, you can set your display to never turn off (settings-display/brightness). I find my phone too bright to leave on all night. I place my phone in landscape orientation on my nightstand, and just tap the screen if I want to see the time during the middle of the night.

I agree that the light would be pretty bright, even at the lowest brightness.
I have my phone sitting on my nightstand and either tap it or “raise to wake” to see the time.

There are a number of apps that are nightstand clocks. I use one called bedtime. It’s pretty basic. Just a digital clock where you can choose the color, etc. of the numbers.
I think the correct name of the app I use is bed time large clock.

I don't know if it would be bright enough for you, but a few IoS updates ago iphone added a "always on display" setting. It's under Display & Brightness. You could turn that on and see if it's what you need.

I have an echo thing on my nightstand that has a time display. I can ask Alexa anything, make lists, set alarms, reminds, play music, turn lights on or off, etc.

If I wake before my alarm I don’t even open my eyes, I just ask Alexa what time it is 😢

This is actually very easy. I downloaded the free app (Clock) Follow these instructions: iphone bedside clockIt has settings where you can make it not turn off. And you can make it very dim or very bright.
