I know this has been discussed before, just wondering what is a reasonable turn around time?
I placed a fairly big order with a well known company during a big sale almost a month ago. I e-mailed several times, the email listed on their website and on the bottom of the order confirmation, no response. I finally sent a message through their website and received a response quickly. She thought thought the company said something about a 6-8 week turn around time during the sale, but I couldn't find anything with a quick search. Full disclosure, they do sell embellishments made by them as well as products from other manufacturers. Just wondering if 6-8 weeks is reasonable? She did offer to send the order without their item in the next couple of days, but expected the items to be made in the next week, so it will probably only be a 4-5 week turn around time. I might be a little overly cautious, critical or impatient after the fiasco a couple of years ago with redefined kreative.
eta - Just for clarification, the item not yet ready was exclusive to the sale. At the time of the sale, I didn't realize that it might hold up the entire order. Initially, it was only available to a specific number of customers that ordered. I think there were problems with items from another manufacturer selling out, so they re-ordered and extended the promotion. I think they probably offered more of the exclusive item than they originally intended.

I have little patience for unreasonably slow turnaround times. I know some “stores” are only a few people working there, but then don’t have a big sale where you can’t fulfill the orders in a reasonable timeframe. If you are marketing your services in a professional manner, I think you should fulfill them professionally as well.

A reasonable time by a well known co should be done no more the 10 days from the time they receive the order to the time they actually ship not just prepare a shipping label. However, if it’s during a big sale time then 3 to 4 weeks is my limit. If it takes longer then that and it’s not clearly stated on their website then I’m not ordering from them again.

I'm willing to wait for up to 2 weeks (10 business days) to receive the item. If the company hasn't sent an email apologizing for the shipping delay (and maybe throwing in a 10% off coupon for the delay) I'd be pretty angry.

In normal circumstances, 6-8 weeks is ludicrous, and I would not be buying from that company again. I guess it's a little bit different if they don't have one of the items in stock, but in that scenario they should be offering up front to ship the rest of the order. I'm confused though as to whether the excessive delay is due to the sale, or due to the item that is not made yet. Did you know when you placed the order that one of the items was on back order / pre order? It sucks if they didn't tell you.

The OP said the seller would be making the items next week. They must have been way under stocked if they’re still making embellishments for orders from a month ago. They had to know they were out of stock and should have given the customers a choice of cancelling that item and receiving the rest of the order or waiting it out until they had the item done.

Unless it's specifically flagged as a pre-order and the terms of that pre-order clearly explained (usually there's something that will say put this item in an order by itself to avoid holding up your whole order) I'm getting impatient after about 3 business days and annoyed by about the week mark.
In the case that something is delaying a whole order beyond what was expected I would want the seller to apologize and explain asap and offer to ship the rest of the order immediately. I feel like they should eat the extra shipping cost of the delayed item. I would at least want the *choice* to cancel the unfinished items and/or have the rest shipped even if I might tell them it's OK and I will wait.

A regular order: I expect it to ship in 3-5 business days.
A pre-order: Whenever all the items are in. When I order a pre-order, I know I will have to wait. I know it might be a month or two or three.
I ordered a regular order (no pre-order) on National Scrapbook Day, from a company (my second time ordering from them) and my order took 22 days to ship out, I was not happy that it took so long. If a company is that behind in the shipping, they should hire some extra staff.
I've always ordered from A Cherry on top and Scrapbook.com, and my regular orders have always shipped out in 2-3 business days. Other type businesses (Walmart, Kohls, Target, etc...), my orders have always shipped out in 1-5 business days.

If it's not during a big sale I expect my order to ship in a couple of days. During sales I know it will take longer but expect it to ship within a week. If it goes more than a week without any update then I start to get a little frustrated, unless the expected delay was clear on their website. I recall one retailer who used to update their shopfront every couple of days during big sales with a message showing what order no they were up to packing, which at least gave some idea of how far away my order might be.

6-8 weeks seems absurd. I would fully expect that to be communicated up front. If you want the item, then I guess it's worth the wait? it sounds like a small business so shipping the available items now and the made to order item later would likely eat up a lot of the profits. But I'd be very wary ordering again from the company.

I expect an order to ship within a few days. Don't offer product for sale that you don't have in stock unless you advertise it as a preorder. If I'm buying from a company I want my product sent out in a timely manner. I shouldn't have to wait a week for the order to be pulled and shipped.

I chose less than a week, because I want to play with my pretty new things as soon as possible.
However, I understand and have had to wait roughly 6 to 8 weeks for an order. It has happened twice, once with a preorder where the product was very delayed arriving to ACOT and another time waiting for stamps shipped from the UK.
