I totally agree, but be aware, this incident occurred in Canada. I guess our political poison is still bleeding over the border. ☹️

That poor little girl. That was a horrible thing for her and her family to experience, as well as the students and families. I wonder why he didn’t get arrested for harassment or inciting violence.

I can't even fathom being such a sad excuse of an adult human that you feel the need to verbally abuse a child at a school sporting event---and based on their appearance of all things! That poor girl.

That poor girl. I don't disagree AT ALL - but having been to enough youth sporting events, I no longer have any faith in adults' ability to have even the basic human decency. This doesn't surprise me AT ALL. We had a big kid - who was a very talented athlete. The parents in the stands screaming to see his birth certificate - yeah it jaded me early. Sorry my kid was tall for their age.

Good grief. That's insane. Just why? I don't understand this sort of thing at all. Since when is a haircut an indication of gender?

I’ve worn a pixie cut or very short bob for most of my adult life, so I don’t get it, either. Only in recent years has anyone commented that it’s a “man cut” or a “lesbian cut.” I feel like there’s a dangerous tide turning and society is regressing to being intolerant of anyone who doesn’t conform to strict, old-fashioned gender norms.

I hear you and certainly see it in social media but this is so regional. I honestly feel like people have never been more open and understanding in real life. The divide in this country had just never been wider - ok I typed that and immediately thought of civil war so will caveat that absolutes are almost wrong / but damn in my lifetime I’ve never thought more that where you lived in the us determined your experience

I'm glad the school district did the right thing in banning the man, but that poor girl. She will never forget the hate she experienced that day. That poor child. You can never take back hurtful words, especially said to a child. How painful.

Recently another asshole with a gun here in TX shot and killed a gay woman apparently just because she was gay. www.kxan.com/news/crime/affidavit-23-year-old-man-shot-killed-woman-after-calling-her-a-gay-slur/amp/

The state political trends that started passing legislation against various groups, along with taking draconian measures against K-12 education, has made it, for the first time in MY life that when I think about where dh and I will retire that we will not consider certain states because of their laws and politics. I have never before in my life routinely donated to political campaigns for races in states other than the one I live in, but I do now. Simply because I think that women, POC, LGQBTQ+ deserve the same treatment and protections under the law as straight white Christian-identified men.

My kids and I were just talking about this as they're at the cusp of determining first jobs/grad school and it's absolutely a factor in their decisions. They have absolutely no interest living in a community that doesn't embrace everyone. I'm lucky that we settled in a state that is just getting bluer every year.

While I never considered moving to a different state post retirement, current various state politics make me seriously consider where I want to spend vacation time and money. My BFF moved to FL and I have family in TN. I have no desire to go to either of those places because their local political atmosphere SUCKS.

More people support the LGBTQ community than they have in years past. But the scary thing is that the people who are against it are very vocal and dangerous. They are emboldened by extreme right wing politicians and now feel comfortable showing their true colors. If we as a society want to push back against that hate, we need to vote those type of politicians out of office. Like you, I have had a short haircut for most of my adult life. No one should be attached about their hair choice. I can't believe the ignorance in some people. My heart breaks for that poor child who had to deal with that idiot.

I have always said the real perverts are those who are obsessed with the genitals and sex life of others. They are the dangerous predators. It never occurs to normal well adjusted people to fixate on the genitals of anyone.

Good grief. That's insane. Just why? I don't understand this sort of thing at all. Since when is a haircut an indication of gender? Since at least the 90s? I had super long hair to start 4th grade. Got it cut super short. I had 2 classmates call me a boy and tell me that they were going to punch me. School never did anything about it.

While not about the exact same subject many of the replies here made me think of this video that I saw yesterday. We all need to become just as loud as the other side and defend all marginalized groups and stand up to the hate. www.tiktok.com/t/ZT81vP3Ut/
