we have had earthquake insurance for years. in our scheme of things, it is not such a high cost when you think of a. major asset being destroyed. for years, our house was our one big owned thing.. so it has been worth the peace of mind. if you buy it, you can buy different levels of coverage such as living expenses, etc. I can see an earthquake fault from my house. We also pay for earthquake coverage, for the same reasons. We get flood insurance as well. Yes, we would have a lot more $ in the bank had we chosen not to and saved each of those dollars over the past 33 years, but in my mind, insurance is for catastrophic events. It's not perfect but its a cost we're willing to assume.

No, but when I bought my house last year they told me I'm covered if an airplane hits my house. I laughed out loud. I guess I need that since the Blue Angels practice right over my house every week.

We live 1/4 mile from the Hayward Fault and we do. It’s very expensive and my husband wants to cancel it. I told him if he does it will cause an earthquake for sure, so we’re keeping it for now. It’s a 36 year old policy. I’m not taking a chance!

Cindy We're in the direct final approach to a major regional (edited, not regional, but municipal) airport, and I feel you. There have been crashes into houses less than a mile away.
