I have never prepared for the SBC fest events with purchased kits. I have thought of the sessions as a cross between technique videos and sales promotions for particular products. I watched for some of the products that looked fun to go on sale later and scooped them up then.
Looking at the kits in the link, if a crafter is planning for this fall's event, they would have to read carefully to see if that is the kit they are purchasing, as I see some of the "essentials" are for past classes.

I love SBC's Fests. It's great to have a free event for a change, and I actually do like their products, too. I just bought some really great SB.com dies and ColorPops, which I like better than Nuvo drops.
I won't buy anything for the event but I will definitely watch. I do find their kits tend to be priced really, really well though. I like that you can see if you like the project first and then buy the supplies afterwards if you really want to make it.

I just look to see what is on sale. I have never watched any of the videos and participated in the chats and what not.
