I know there are a lot of people that scrap chronologically. I admire the dedication and attention span of people who can do that.
I'm ADHD (seriously, I took all of the tests and everything) and I can't keep scrapping one subject very long. Squirrel! (Actually I have scrapped a squirrel before).
So when I sit down to scrap (I usually do 2-4 layouts in a session) I'll do one baby layout, a beach one, a going out with friends one, a school one, etc. I'm all over the map. Maybe I'll scrap two beach ones in a row since I have the paper out but then (squirrel!) I do something completely different.
Because I scrap this way I don't necessarily organize my albums chronologically. I have several beach albums, several Christmas ones and vacation ones. I have a selfie one, a friends one, a Disney one, etc. Even for some of my layouts of the boys I have an album for each one and then albums of them together. It is a freakin' mess.
This partly came about because a lot of my older photos don't have dates on them so I'm just guessing what year it is by the size of the kids. I try to make it roughly chronological within the album but I need to emphasize roughly.
So are you a chronological scrapper? An event scrapper? Do you scrap all of your vacation photos at the same time? Do you have all of your albums by year or by subject?

I don't scrap chronologically. I scrap what I'm excited about, what suits my latest purchases, my newest photos. My intention is then to file the layouts chronologically by the photos, but that hasn't been working. My last few albums are layouts basically in the order I made them, stuffed in page protectors so they don't get damaged. I've thought about starting to go by theme. My nieces' birthday parties, school photos, and dance recitals are now going in one book. I might do the same for Christmases. I do have some vacations that have their own book, but shorter ones are just mixed in with all the others. I keep talking about doing a great scrapbook organization but so far it's a hodge podge. My 2001-2010 are chronological because that's what I did then. Everything since needs help.

I don't scrap chronologically but I do store layouts chronologically
I set up working albums (3-ring binders) and slip the unscrapped photos in order between the finished layouts -all in page protectors. Once an album is finished - then I move it to a permanent album (also 3-ring) - that makes it obvious on my shelves which are complete and which aren't.

So are you a chronological scrapper? An event scrapper? Do you scrap all of your vacation photos at the same time? Do you have all of your albums by year or by subject? I get bored easily, too. But I try to stay on one theme for a particular scrapping session. I don't put stuff away very consistently, so it makes sense that when there is a bunch of hockey themed papers and embellishments spread all over the scrap counter that perhaps I should use some of them to scrap another hockey LO. After 3 or 4 LO's though, it starts feeling like work, so I will move on to something else. That is why I have to pack everything but the kitchen sink to go to a three day crop. I could never scrap one event or theme for that long that long. I don't scrap chronologically but I do store layouts chronologically For the most part this is me. I try to date my pages as per photos so that makes it easier to get the pages into the right place in the right album. I scrap what I'm excited about, what suits my latest purchases, my newest photos. Yes. One new set of stickers will set me scrapping a set of photos I had set aside months ago b/c either I couldn't figure out how to scrap them or one of artbabe's squirrels ran by. Or I find myself frantically shopping for papers to scrap the photos that are still on my camera taken yesterday and to be printed tomorrow on my way home from time with dgk's.

My layouts are stored in chronological order but I do not scrapbook that way.
I immediately upload photos to Google drive and my PC and store the pictures in folders with event and year.
I also have a running list of events to scrap and write the date the event occurred on that list so when I journal, I can easily see the date.
Every so often 2 events may be swapped because I want to use a different pocket layout.

Nope. Heck, I don’t even finish a lot of pages before moving on to the next one. Squirrel issues are real!

I scrapbook mostly chronologically, but if I feel like scrapbooking something out of order, I feel free to do it. My album layouts are chronological, for the most part, but I don't stress if they aren't exactly in order. I always date the photos in my layouts; and if there is a big difference between when I made the layout and when the photos were taken, I note that too.

nope - I started out chronologically, but now it's mostly by event or by whatever I'm inspired by at the time. Someday I will store the completed layouts in albums by theme, like family, holidays or vacation or person. The albums are generally in semi chronological order.

No, I do not scrap chronologically but my albums are organized that way. I put finished and unfinished pages all in the same album. I pick what page looks fun to scrap and skip around a lot.

I scrap mostly chronologically because I like to organize my albums that way, and I like the adjacent pages to flow/match aesthetically. However, if I feel like scrapping something else, just to break out of a rut of scrapping the same thing over again, then I don't have a problem doing that. I also have my mini-albums on the side that I can scrap if I am feeling like something different.

I scrapbook chronologically, and have since I started scrapbooking in the fall of 1996.
January to December. Some years are busier than other and those years have two scrapbooks (January-June and July-December).
I very rarely go out of order, sometimes if I am stuck on an idea, then I go ahead to the next group of photos or two, then go back to the skipped photos, but everything goes in the scrapbook in chronological order. The only exception is what I call a filler page (cat layout or other random layout) that might be slightly off by a week or two or three. If I have a two page spread, I want it two be visible side by side, instead of a turn the page for the other half( second page of the spread), then I will fill in a gap with a random filler page layout.
I store my printed photos and photo cd's (that my photos are saved on) in chronological order as well.

I make photobooks that are mostly chronological reviews of each year or a trip, but I don't necessarily make each page in order. I also jump around between a couple of projects.
Writing this I just realized I didn't do my photo workflow, getting pix onto EHDs and into Lightroom, for last month and so I'm definitely several weeks behind on making pages for this year's book. That's normal and OK, but I try not to leave it too late in the year because I get busy with my nephew's photobook and my Christmas Journal, plus the book is a Xmas gift for family. But I'm also working on remaking an album into a photobook for a trip from spring 1999.

I do not scrap chronologically but I print chronological 8x8 softcover Shutterfly albums. I have from 2005-2018 scrapped and 2005-2015 printed. I believe I have four pages to make to wrap up 2019 and a couple handfuls for 2020 (I did many of the COVID-themed ones in the moment to make sure I captured the journaling) so I'm mostly just working on 2021, 2022, and 2023.
I make a yearly Countdown to Christmas album + separate albums for any vacations we may take. I will be including my COVID layouts in our 2020 family album + printing them as a separate album. Everything else goes into the family album. Since it's all digital, my plan is to print off an album or two for my kids of birth-senior year "highlights" that have already been scrapped as part of their high school graduation gift.
About 75% of my yearly C2C album gets completed during December, and I usually am excited enough about whatever vacation we've taken to scrap it pretty quickly after we arrive home. I find that I lose steam on a project album if I don't complete the bulk of it during or soon after it's done.

I may have more than one working album on the go at any time - at the moment I have our Mexican vacation from a few years back and a First Year album for my older granddaughter (she's 4 now!). I will set up the First Year album for her little sister (just turned one) when I get home next week. Even my vacation albums, I try to put the layouts into the album in roughly the right order of what we did when, but I will use generic layouts - foods, statues, interesting little things - to fill gaps between one and two page layouts.

I mostly scrapbook chronologically and my albums are the same.
I'm not afraid to just grab some photos I'm excited about and scrap them.

No I don't scrap chronologically.
I'll usually scrap an event (multiple pages) all at the same time but otherwise I just pick photos and start. Sometimes I'm inspired by getting new paper and will dig up some old pics to use.
My albums are a mix of theme/event and chronologically within those themes. I have Christmas, Vacations (each has their own album) & Beach (we go multiple times a year so I have books just for these trips), DS school, DS Scouting, a "Me" album, Family album, DS Birthdays album, DS general albums (for pics that don't fit any of the other themes). I also have some mini albums for different events/trips (DH 50th bday, Trip to Pioneer Woman's store & ranch, etc).
I'm just kind of all over the place LOL!

I did one vacation album chronologically and it was bliss! It was an Alaskan cruise that my mom and I were both doing albums for. We took a day, sorted all of our pictures and ephemera (hers and mine and what we wanted to trade) and then divided them up by location. Because I was using a combination of pocket pages and 12x12 layouts it came together really well because I could adjust what needed to be a layout vs a pocket page and what would go on the reverse.
My European vacation album, I have done out of order for various reasons and it is a mess. Disorganized to the point that I hesitate to actually work on it because I am not sure where everything goes and what I have done. For a time it was fun to scrap whatever I wanted, but it has not been conducive to building an album that I want to view chronologically. I need to spend a day sitting down with it and organizing.
Ultimately, for me, I think the happy medium for my everyday albums are to do a month in review pocket page, and then I can add in whatever layouts I want. I feel like having the pocket page gives me enough structure to then just scrap what I want to work on but then it is easy to slot into place. Somehow, just trying to put the layouts chronologically on their own is a struggle for me--not sure why.

No, I scrap what-ever and them put them in albums somewhat chronologically. I mostly scrap current stuff (last 2 years). I've done all my kids growing up years so now I just scrap current stuff or stories that need to be told.

I'm actually kind of surprised how many people have said they scrap chronologically, I guess we just don't really talk about it that often, so it was a bit under my radar. I can definitely see where it would be beneficial, especially on travel on yearly albums where I often run out of steam before the project is finished (I still have a 2011 weekly PL album that needs to be finished, that was mostly scrapped in real time and then just ignored for the following 12 years).
I scrap whatever I want and file my layouts chronologically, or as much as possible. Like others, I'll move layouts out of order to keep a 2 page layout together or create a filler type page to fill an odd gap. I keep my yearly layouts in albums by year, large vacations usually have a couple of overview pages in my yearly album then a gazillion layouts in separate albums. Even a one week trip is likely to get a separate album (albeit a 6x8).
I have a lot of gaps in my albums, but when I get part way through a project I tend to print out the remaining photos and drop them into page protectors in the right spots in the album. This helps me include all the stories I want and makes it easier when doing sketches/challenges to just find some pre-printed photos that will work. When I get close to finishing an album I'll keep a list of what is left to go along with the photos sizes so I can easily choose something to work on.

I do scrap chronologically. I tried scrapping whatever pictures I wanted but that created a problem when it was time to put the layouts into albums because I want my albums to be chronological. So I'm back to chronological scrapping and things are going much smoother. Unless I'm scrapping a vacation I don't find that I'm scrapping the same topics for several layouts in a row. Or even two layouts in a row. But if I'm scrapping a vacation or an event with more than two or three layouts I get a little antsy and want to be done with it.

Squirrel! I scrapped chronologically for about 3 months back in 2000 and then realized that itself was a block to my mojo, so I set myself free. With babies, you simply cannot keep up with your photos, and you start being a month "behind" then a year "behind" then a CHILD "behind" and that isn't a good feeling to a brain (it's like you are failing!)
I really enjoyed the freedom of grabbing a photo or stories that spoke to me in any particular scrappy mood.
I am currently trying to scrap a 5 day family visit last year and complete that "story" before moving on. It feels good - and hard. It is hard not to "take a break" from these photos, BUT it makes me quicker to produce because I have less choices in photos and supplies (I have a wide assortment of paper I'm starting with in order to give the photos a slightly cohesive feel. If you look in the gallery, my last 7 pages are from this "kit" and while they don't look matchy matchy, they are less ecclectic than my normal approach.
I have about 4 layouts left to go. I have a list I'm crossing things off to keep my squirrel practice at bay!

My Wedding/Honeymoon album, my daughter's Baby Album and her School Album I scrapbooked chronologically.
But besides that I mostly scrapbook what I am in the mood for, but the problem with that is I want those layouts in albums somewhat chronologically so I have a lot of layouts in Iris cases.

My pages are placed in the albums extremely chronologically but I do not scrap that way. I am a theme scrapper first so I work on a particular theme and then put them in order in the book.
