I purchased the Betterpress along with a couple of dies yesterday. Anyone else have or getting this new tool. It’s definitely not a necessity for me but, I simply love the results I am seeing on several videos for it. I have always like the idea of a letterpress look.

I picked up mine from FGS and it’s amazing! Realized I didn’t need their inks and just used my archival inks. They work like a dream!

Awesome to know about using your own inks. I only purchased the ink refill since it came with a black ink pad. I planned to use my own inks too. I’ve decided to be very selective with the dies I choose to purchase since they are so expensive.

Have you tried it with the cardstock you usually use? I couldn't see myself investing in a bunch of different inks and papers along with the different plates.

I tried it with bazzill and the results were ok. I think the spellbinders paper is just thick enough to add that extra depth for the letterpress look. I am glad I bought it in person because the gal at the store really explained and showed me the ins and outs, feeling lucky to have a LSS.

feeling lucky to have a LSS. Me too. Ours has both the Gimmer System and the Betterpress. I own the Glimmer System but have not used it nearly enough to get comfortable with it. That did not stop me from collecting a pile of glimmer plates and a tub of foils. Think I need to make use of that system a habit before I dive into something else.
BTW do you know if the glimmer plates work with the BetterPress?

You can use the Betterpress plates on the glimmer but no glimmer plates on the Betterpress. It’ll damage the system. It’s something about the glimmer plates being thicker. Someone tried it this weekend and cracked their clear plate….

Already have a bunch of those. Don't want to feel the urge to buy a whole new collection of plates for the new system.

No, Spellbinders says that you can't use the Glimmer plates on the new system - but you can use the BetterPress plates on the Glimmer. However, I watched NancyStamps on youtube this weekend and she was able to use a set of Spellbinders Glimmer plates on the better press and it worked great. She removed all the shims and used the Betterpress inks and paper and ran it thru a Big Kick instead of the Spellbinders Platinum machine. She did say that other brands of foil plates might be thicker and not work and also that using the foil plates will void the warranty on the BetterPress, but Spellbinders is also making replacements available for both the magnetic pad and for the clear top plate, so if you crack a plate you won't need to buy a whole new system.
