RosieKat Would it maybe help to use a phone app for your grocery list? DH and I have been using AnyList for several years now, and once DD got a phone we added her to the appropriate lists so she can add things as she thinks of them too. She’s not great at always remembering to do it but she’s getting better, especially since there are things I buy that only she eats so I don’t always know when she’s running low unless she puts it on the list herself. I like the phone app because we all almost always have our phones so if anyone happens to think of something when we’re out and about we can still add it.

I would make a protein, two veggies and a carb for most meals. Salad bar once a week. That's what I did except only one vegetable. I also made homemade pizza or tacos sometimes. They had to taste the meat and take three bites of the vegetable and could take or leave the carbs. It was workable. I have four kids, three of whom were picky. I wasn't about to become a short-order cook but I didn't want to get into food wars with any of them. I'm embarrassingly picky because I was forced to eat and it was horrible so I didn't want that for them.

RosieKat Would it maybe help to use a phone app for your grocery list? One would think so, but considering that I've told them they can just text me what they want and that would work, I doubt it. I may try, though. Never hurts to keep trying!

Can you make ingredients separately and let everyone pick what they want? Like fajitas. Have neat in one bowl. Veg in another. Tortillas are optional. Pasta same thing. Pasta in one bowl everyone adds it doesn't add sauce. Meat in separate bowl. It is more work for you, but if your true goal is to feed everyone it might be an aption. This.
I work OOTH, and have many people with differing schedules in the home.
I make several items throughout the week that are grab and personalize.
I almost always have plain pasta in the fridge, that they can add red sauce, white sauce, pesto, veggies, eat hot or cold, etc.
I have rice in the fridge.
A bean or lentil dish.
A soup that is ready to heat and eat, but could be jazzed up to their liking with spice or crackers or pasta or rice added.
Cut up fruit and/or veggies.
There is also plenty of cereals to choose from, and PB & J fixings.
