Lazy Crazy Daze of Summer Week EIGHT
1. A little PEA lifting. KikiPea posted this fun page in the Shimelle thread. I have always loved her exuberant clusters, and this page has two gorgeous ones. I also love the layered torn border vertical strips. Just so much FUN on this one page!
And an the opposite end of some scale from delightfully fluffy is this wonderfully sleek embedded diecut look of justjac ’s fun card:
2. Colour inspiration: I loved the purples in both the inspiration pieces. And in honor of the upcoming season, the palette this week is called Deep Autumn Purple.
3. Oh Snap! (photo challenge) Look Down!… As you take your daily walk, or scurry to and from the vehicle on the way to work &/or student drop-off, look down at your feet. Are there any fallen leaves yet? Are your flowers in full bloom begging to be highlighted? Do you see some other pops of colour? Or do you love your new and trendy—or old and comfy—footware? Take the shot!
4. We’ve got CLASS! Here is a quick tutorial on how to get an inbedded diecut look on a card front. Again, it could be used for an element on a page. Looks really cool with one of those outline style dies.
davebrethauer.typepad.com/outsidethebox/2014/08/one-of-my-techniques-for-adhering-intricate-dies.html
5. Beauty on the Border! Whether you tear the edges like KikiPea, or use a border punch or pre made sticker or diecut strips, have some fun with the edges of your project. Layer. Embellish. Add an extra cluster in the corner.
6. Theme for Week # 8 is Hello YOU! Is there something you have photographed that doesn’t quite fit into the story of the day but stands out in your mind as an interesting detail? Or a person in your life you have not featured in awhile but you want to acknowledge now. Is there a new baby—or an old friend—you would like to send a HELLO card to? Do it now!
7. TAGS!. I love KikiPea ’s tucked in tags. And there are tons of other ways to use them on a card or LO. It is not like we have no options! Most collections now include at least one sheet of cut apart tags. There are a plethora of nesting tag die sets. And with a trimmer and a corner rounder or pair of scissors, you can create tags from that rainbow of scraps that has accumulated. Use one. Use a ton. Use reinforcements or eyelets on the holes; ribbon or twine; or leave them open. Tack ‘em down with brads or curl ‘em up at the ends. Have fun with tags this week!
8. Mix n Match your supplies! Use a bunch of patterned papers—from one collection or a range of them. Let stamps or dies from different manufacturers come out to play. Spread ‘em out or stack ‘em up. But use them together on one project.
9. Ephemera. Time to use those extra pieces of diecut packs. Or use what I call REAL ephemera such as tickets and stubs from your trip or adventure. Even clothing tags, package backing and end pieces, &/or pieces cut from boxes. Tuck ‘em in. Affix to tags. Ink the edges or leave ‘em as they are.
10. Way Back Machine In August of 2017, crystalb ’s Create a Kit challenge asked us to put together a kit of supplies, then use that kit to create a page or more, some cards or tags or whatever to “kill” that kit. Here are the “ingredients”:
• Something NEW like fresh out of the store/online new
• Something OLD (older than year but the older the better)
• Flock (don't have that then how about embossing powder or loose glitter?)
• Ribbon or twine
• A tool you have not used in at least 6 months (crimper anyone?!?! decorative scissors?)
• chipboard (naked or already done your choice)
• Now for papers:
o 3-5 of your choice
o A gingham or plaid
o A floral
o A woodgrain
o Something with text on it
Check out the challenge and other inspiration here:
2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/65310/august-make-own-kit-challenge
11. Texture from LAYERING. Any way you use to separate layers gives the feel of depth and texture to the project. So ink those layers, tear ‘em, curl up the edges. Or use pop dots or folded cs to add that extra lift. If you have flowers, curl the petals. Even a spritz of ink, like KikiPea used behind her huge clusters, adds the illusion of lift without the thickness.
12. Challenge YOURSELF and us! What do YOU want to accomplish, scrapwise, this week? Organize one craft supply? Find your scrappy desk or counter? Put together 4 pages? Or 8 cards? Take some steps to start that vacation album from 2013? Finish a UFO that has been begging you to Just. Get. It. Done. ? Take that new tool out of the box and take it for a spin? Whatever it is, please reply to this thread with a heading #12 CHALLENGE MYSELF and let us know what it is. Later in the week, let us know what you managed to do.
13. BAKERS’ DOZEN. Can you cram ALL of this dozen challenges into one project? Hmmmm?

Lazy Crazy Daze of Summer Week SEVEN
1. A little PEA lifting. This week I want to feature kellyr21 ’s gorgeous page. I love how she used inks here, both with a stencil and as splatters. Gorgeous colours, beautiful floral cluster, and of course lovely photo of herself. I don’t scrap myself nearly enough. I want to use this as inspiration.
For card inspiration this week, I chose MDscrapaholic ’s beautiful holiday cards. Awhile ago, artbabe asked about our fav colours, and this blend of purples, pinks and aqua are certainly among mine. I also love the embossed backgrounds and need to remember to do some panels to use when I am making my cards.
2. Colour inspiration: Soft pastels. Taking inspiration from kellyr21 and MDscrapaholic , try a little soft colour on your LO or card. But don’t forget to highlight one of them, making it stand out a bit more like the bright teal in the ocean on this mood board.

3. Oh Snap! (photo challenge) SELFIE!… I love Kelly’s photo. I hate taking selfies and don’t like a lot of photos people take of me, but I will try to get a decent self portrait somehow this week.
4. We’ve got CLASS! This week I thought I would remind myself about ink techniques, and I went to Jennifer McQuire. Here she is demo-ing techniques with water reactive inks. She works with cards, but her techniques translate well into scrapbooking backgrounds and filler cards. And kellyr21 ’s LO has me thinking maybe I could use the spatter on my mat to stamp with…
www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuGS0FIW-88
5. Cluster ‘em up! Whether you are working with flowers or any other element, put together at least one large cluster. Pop some of the elements up; tuck some under a photo or title or journaling box.
6. Theme for Week # 7 is Me, Myself & I! What are some of your dreams? Your strengths? Your questions? Your quirks? What is important to you right now? Maybe use one of those “Currently” cards and fill in all the blanks…
7. Leaves and branches. Taking the idea from @kellyr’s pretty fronds, add leaves &/or branches any way you like---stamped, stenciled, embossed, diecut, or right there on the paper you use.
8. Not stressed--DISTRESSED! Look at how kellyr21 roughed up her page edges! Grab your scissors or any tool and rough up yours. Spritz some water on a corner and roll it. Follow up with inks, or leave the edges raw. Or grab a sanding block and shave off a bit of the surface of your cs to reveal the core. It’s okay to be rough; ‘it’s only paper’.
9. Chipboard. Whether a sticker from a collection, or raw cb you have had for awhile; whether it is a pre-cut themed or basic shape, or one you cut yourself, for your project this week, use some chipboard.
10. Way Back Machine Here is one of the first Stash Busting challenges ever posted at 2Peas. It comes from scrapnatya with samples for inspiration. Use one, two, or ALL of the items on your project.
Check it out at 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/18862/march-stashbusters
11. Woven texture. I found and used some LYB cloth sticky border strips this past week. What do YOU have with a woven texture? Might be as simple as linen weave cs. Or maybe a bit of grosgrain ribbon, or some lace. Do you have some of that sticky canvas or sheets of burlap that were on the market a few years ago? Or do you feel your fingers itching to weave a mat for your photo with strips of pp or cs? Weave it!
Lazy Crazy Daze of Summer Week SIX
1. A little PEA lifting. I love doing two page LO’s and am always looking for inspiration for how to tie the two pages together. I really love 950nancy ’s use of line and striped strips here. How she uses both landscape and portrait oriented photos. And the fun banner at the bottom right is the perfect way to break the line and dress up the LO.

For card inspiration this week, I chose lisacharlotte ’s pretty birthday card. Love the lemons. Makes me think of summer lemonade. This could be a summer greeting, or an invitation to a gathering on the deck.
2. Neon brights. Taking inspiration from the top right photo on Nancy’s LO, and thinking about family adventures like county fairs, let’s use at least TWO of these bright neon colours!
3. Oh Snap! (photo challenge) In the shadows… While all the adventuring is going on, is there someone or something taking a quiet break in the shade? If you look under the vegetation, is there something you can photograph under the leaves?
4. We’ve got CLASS! One fun technique I would like to get better at is Mixed Media Collage. Here is a tutorial from a couple of years ago on how to get started. It is aimed toward art journals, but I can see this being a panel for a scrapbook page or background for a card front.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wY7tCPadog
5. Hang a BANNER! Somewhere on your project include a pre-made or DIY banner. The panels do not need to be fish tail shapes. In fact it can be bathing suits hanging on a line, carnival prizes, the fish you caught,
6.Theme for Week # 6 is FAMILY ADVENTURE! Doesn’t matter how big your family is, or how many two or four legged members are on this adventure. Or how far from your house you need to go to have it—maybe just your back yard! The task is to scrap an adventure with all or some of them.
7. HEARTS! When scrapping family, we often think about how much we love them. Slap some hearts on your card or LO.
8. Get WET! Use some type of wet media on your project. It might be sprays or inks, Nuvo drops or similar, heat embossing powders or glazes, paint or alcohol inks.
9. The ABC of scrapbook companies. For your project this week, use something created/sold by a papercrafting company starting with the letter A, B or C.
10. Way Back Machine Here is a challenge posted by our old friend LisaDV in the summer of 2015:
Use the below list to inspire your project. You can use one, some or all the prompts on the list. Substitutions are welcome and encouraged.
• A never before used stamp
• Chipboard (bonus points for raw chipboard that you embellish yourself)
• Eyelet(s) or brad(s)
• Vellum or transparency (element or paper)
• Use a shape repeatedly (7 or more times) – but any shape you choose
• In addition to the vellum/transparency above, use at least 5 different papers
For inspiration, check out the samples and examples in the original challenge thread 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/27080/august-stash-challenge
11. Corrugated texture. Remember how we each had to have a crimper? Do you still have yours? Time to put it to use. Or do you have some of that Fancy Pants corrugated cs or letter stickers? If you have neither, there is always the tried and true method of stripping the paper off one side of the lid of an Amazon box to reveal the texture underneath. However you achieve the texture, let’s see some on your project(s) this week.
12. Challenge YOURSELF and us! What do YOU want to accomplish, scrapwise, this week? Organize one craft supply? Find your scrappy desk or counter? Put together 4 pages? Or 8 cards? Lazy Crazy Daze of Summer Week FIVE
Here is the list of prompts for this upcoming week. Sorry the images are so huge, but not being a techy, I have no idea how to scrunch them down.
1. A little PEA lifting. In July 2021, 950nancy shared this fun page. So many features I want to lift… The layered title. The way she made a giant cluster with the title and all the maritime diecuts, the layering, the colours, and of course the fun photo.
And right back to July 2023. MichyM used some of the same colours as in the page above, but her card tends toward the lighter shades. Love what she did with the diecuts: I really need to practice my inking and colouring skills! And I love the clear dots, making the whole card feel dewy fresh.
2. Lakeside. Going with the same palette in both brights and more muted shades, let’s use Bella Blvd’s recent release as our inspiration…
3. Oh Snap! (photo challenge) Into the light! We have been trained to always get the light source behind us when we point the camera. But what if the light is behind the subject? This week, try to get a pic of someone or something with the sun or other light source behind them.
4. We’ve got CLASS! A simple one this week. Five basic ways to use stencils on a card front. Maybe nothing new, but maybe a reminder to use those items in the craftroom that have not played for awhile.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=fevIQa-fbzo&list=RDCMUClT5zX0SmP02AWxO228wj_A
5. Bigger, higher, deeper! Use a large photo of focal point, giant diecuts or images fussy cut from pp, and/or a title or greeting that demands attention, if only by its size. Go big. Go bold. Stack those behemoths into s huge cluster.
6. Theme for Week # 4 is REFRESH! Do you have a photo or a focal image that feels refreshing just to look at it? Time to get that onto paper! Are there techniques or scrappy supplies that used to be your staples but now have been taking a back burner? Why not pull those neglected skills and goodies out and give them a shake. Try using them alongside newer techniques or supplies, or in different ways than you did in the past.
7. SWIRLS! Speaking of older supplies, do you have some of those huge swirls from a few years ago. Some were on paper, some were precut diecuts. Do you have a stencil that will help you create swirls on your project? Swirls are great to show refreshing splashes of water, but they also work for a number of other scenarios. Let’s see how you twirl your swirls!
8. Be HANDY! Do something by hand. Get inky fingers. Fussy cut or tear something. Handwrite the journaling &/or title. Do a little hand stitching—or faux stitching with a pen, doodle a border or a heart or…
9. Bring out the OLD. Dig deep into your scrappy supplies and bring out some of your oldest. They have been hanging out in that dark bin or drawer just hoping for their chance to shine. Give them that chance!
10. Way Back Machine Let’s go back to Chinagirl828 ’s July 2018 stash challenge. 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/80414/july-stash-challenge
“Use the below list to inspire your project. You can use one, some or all the prompts on the list. Substitutions are welcome and encouraged.
• paper pads
• geometrics
• project life or similar style cards
• something you haven’t opened/used yet
• rub ons
• wood veneer”
11. Stenciled texture. I think we all have a stencil or two. And I know I have a lot of choices of inks, powders, and wet media to use with them, maybe even some texture pastes. Time to put all that to use for at least one element on a project. Can you use a layered stencil and ink to mimic shadows and light? Or get some real shadows by slathering on the paste. Have some fun. See where it takes you.
12. Challenge YOURSELF and us! What do YOU want to accomplish, scrapwise, this week? Organize one craft supply? Find your scrappy desk or counter? Put together 4 pages? Or 8 cards?
Hmmmm?
Lazy Crazy Daze of Summer Week FOUR
1. A little PEA lifting. Let’s try a different shape of inspiration. It always amazes me how Linda and nylene and others can take a square sketch or page design and turn it into a lovely rectangle. Here is one of Linda’s pages from last summer. What can YOU create if you start with this page in mind? Here on the farm I am up to my eyebrows in garden veggies right now, so I think I will go with her garden vibe. How about YOU?
For a card to lift this week, let’s take a look at cmpeter ’s lovely floral cards from last summer. What gets your fingers itching to try? The overall design? The popped up diecut pieces? The fresh colours? Her dimensional techniques? Whatever it is, give it a try!
2. Going GREEN. Running with the garden theme, this week’s colour challenge is to use different shades of green anywhere on your project.
3. Oh Snap! (photo challenge) Living color! The challenge this week is to snap something that is both alive and colourful. It COULD by flowers. Or something else that catches your eye, like a butterfly, or someone with pretty hair. I absolutely love the photos taken and shared by @gajenny a couple of weeks ago. Here is one of them
4. We’ve got CLASS! I really love the little corner clusters by Linda’s photo. But clusters are always a challenge for me, so I thought I would find a couple of videos teaching how to create them and how to use them. Here are a couple for you to check out. If you know of better ones, please share. I really want to master this technique before it goes the way of the dinosaurs…
www.youtube.com/watch?v=QNZxvF-utkY
www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWUzklr6big
5. Count ‘em up! ! Let’s see at least one NUMBER on your page or card. If it can be part of the title or greeting, that’s wonderful. But the number can appear anywhere. This is week FIVE, so the number 5 would be cool to use, right?
6. Theme for Week # 5: GROWTH How does your garden grow? What growth &/or changes have you seen in your kids? Grandkids? Yourself?. What growth would you like to see over the next little while? Has your family grown, or is it about to grow through birth, adoption, marriage? Is there a new furry face in your family photo?
7. HEXAGONS! Growing plants and flowers bring bees to mind. And honeycombs. And, of course, hexagons. Find some hex pp, cut some different papers into hex designs. Stamp a honeycomb background, or do it all! Looking forward to seeing some sweet pages and cards.
8. Start strippin’! Use paper strips as a background. Just slap ‘em on, or weave them, or create some kind of pattern. Or journal in strips. Great way to use those branding strips or other scraps.
9. Play with your NEW toys. Do you have a tool that has not come out of the packaging? Or—like my Spellbinders Glimmer system--has peeked out once or twice but never been allowed to feel at home in your craftroom? Time to get it out and give it a test run.
10. Way Back Machine In the summer of 2018, mom posted this challenge: Let me see your vacation photos!
“my challenge is the to dig out those vacation photos and scrap them! Summer, Winter, Fall or Spring - any season will work as long as they are vacation photos”
11. Fabric or fiber. Time to pull out that burlap, or velvet, or sheer fabric you could not part with. Or maybe you still have some of those fun fibre strings from when they were the rage. Pull it out. Use it as a background, an embellishment. Poke a hole through your background and use ribbon or twine or fiber to attach at least one of your elements.
12. Challenge YOURSELF and us! What do YOU want to accomplish, scrapwise, this week? Organize one craft supply? Find your scrappy desk or counter? Put together 4 pages? Or 8 cards? 13. BAKERS’ DOZEN. Can you cram ALL of this dozen challenges into one project? Hmmmm?
Lazy Crazy Daze of Summer Week THREE
1. A little PEA lifting. This week I went back to July 2022 for inspiration, and this gorgeous page by wordyphotogbabe caught my eye. Love the muted colours, the care and attention the background reveals, the reflective journaling, the use of repeated shape. So many ways to take inspiration whether we lift this page exactly or make it totally our own design. Have fun!
As for card lifting inspiration, these sunny cards by gramma popped up at me. And that is the feature I most want to lift, although the giant suns are an attention grabber too. What can YOU do, on a card or page or other element that has this pop up attitude?

2. Back to Basics! Remember when your choices for colour all came out of a box of 8 crayons? Let’s get back to that. This colour wheel has a few more than 8 to choose from , but the idea is there. For this prompt, choose THREE colours from this wheel and use them on your project. They can be side-by-side or spread apart as far as Red-Blue-Yellow. But be bold. Have fun being a kid again!
3. Oh Snap! (photo challenge) IN YOUR FACE! How about a selfie? Or a closeup shot of someone else’s face? Catch those expressions of joy, curiousity, deep thought. The look they give you when you tease them, surprise as they open a gift…
4. We’ve got CLASS! Speaking of a box of crayons, let’s do some colouring. Simon Hurley’s video goes through in detail how to stamp multiple images and then colour them with alcohol markers. But I am thinking many of the tips will apply to using crayons, watercolour pens or pencils &/or inks with water brushes.
5. Heavy Metal! Get out those brads, eyelets, metal embellishments and let them make some noise! Even staples will do, but add something metallic to your project.
6. Theme for Week # 3 is PLAY. Are you scrapping playtime? Catch a playful look on someone’s face in a photo? Or are you just having fun playing with your scrappy toys to create something that makes you or someone else happy? This is a hobby. Have FUN!
7. Chevrons, arrows and triangles. Nothing shows movement and fun like arrows and triangles. Find them on patterned paper, in your stamps and dies and stencils, in your sticker stash. Slap ‘em on your project. See where they take you when you take them out to play.
8. Rule of THREE. Okay, there IS a “rule of three” in art and scrapbook design, and if you know it, you are free to use it for this prompt. But I was thinking more of three photos (or focal images on a card), three clusters, and/or three word greeting or title.
9. The sky’s the limit! Use paper or embellishments or diecut shapes that have you looking up. Clouds, rainbows, sunshine, kites, butterflies, balloons… How about finding a place for one of those BEST DAY EVER! diecuts or stamps?
10. Way Back Machine Let’s go back to July of 2020 for this one: Conquer something! July was named for Julius Caesar. Julius Caesar is famously accredited with the quote: "I came. I saw. I conquered." Take on something new, overcome your fears, and conquer it! Use a new technique, try materials or colours you usually do not use. Remember, though, we are just PLAYING this week. Have some fun, learn something if you can, but don’t stress about it.
11. Textured Cardstock. Okay, the easy way to meet this prompt is to grab some cs that already had a texture built in, even as simple as a linen weave look. Some fun ways to do it would be to grab an embossing folder and add some depth to smooth cs. A CRAZY way might be to spritz any cs with water, then crumple it up into as small a ball as you can. Spritz it again and then spread it out on a flat surface. Leave some of the bumps in it, or iron it with a hot iron to dry the water but leave a cool faux texture. Grab some ink or maybe a coloured medium like Nuvo drops to smooth over the high points or spray stain to darken the crevices. Now you can use as a full background, or cut with dies however you like. Fun, right?
Lazy Crazy Daze of Summer Week TWO Prompts:
1. A little PEA lifting. I love everything craftymom101 ! Great page design. Fun choice and placement of all the elements. This week I want to lift THIS fun page. Would love to see what YOU can take from this fantastic page to lift! I will be going for the grid photo placement and the depth in the clusters.
And a card design to play with… I have been drawn to rainbow designs lately. Have a couple of sets of rainbow dies, but don't use them nearly often enough. For our inspiration this week I bring you joblackford 's creation. I love the bright colours with the rainbow lifting out of the clouds, the bold greeting, the dimension... But you can take one or all of the elements you see here to inspire you when making a greeting card or an embellishment for your page:
June share by jo.blackford, on Flickr
2. Let’s get BEACHY! I know a lot of us fell in love with the latest 49&Market line. I know it is not out yet, but there are lots of other pretty papers in my stash that may be able to stand in for them. As our colour inspiration, let’s turn to their Sunburst Colored Foundations pack. No need to scrap the beach. Or to use all these colours. And you can add in white or black or kraft.
3. Oh Snap! (photo challenge) ZOOM OUT! Let’s get the wide angle view for this week. Focus on the horizon and give us the landscape view of what you see. Try for at least TWO of these photos this week. If you are on a road trip, take a photo whenever your passengers—or YOU—say “Are we THERE yet?”
4. We’ve got CLASS! This is a technique I love to use for backgrounds, whether for cards or pages. Not anything new here, but Carissa Wiley’s video tutorial has my fingers itching to get inky. Just a reminder of what you can come up with if you just play with reactive ink pads, like Tim Holtz Distress inks or Oxides. I like to use Vicki Boutin’s foundations cs, but watercolor paper is a good base if you want to do a few panels (haven’t seen watercolor paper at 12x12 size). Would love to see what you do with this technique on a card or page.
www.sprinkledwithglitter.com/blog/easy-watercolor-effects-with-dye-inks
5. Pop it UP! Use any method to pop up some of your project elements—foam tape, extra matting layers, multiple diecuts all glued together.
6. Theme for Week # TWO is RELAX. Interpret this any way it speaks to you. Scrap some pic’s of a relaxing scene, a person or pet curled up in a comfy place. Create a project the easiest way possible (using pre made items, or fewer elements or more white space…)
7. Dots, circles & splats. Dig out that dotty pp or your enamel dots. Grab your circle punches or dies or stencils. Splatter some ink around. Create a full background, photo mat, or PL card. Back up a cluster with stamped dots or circles. Use a circle as a base for your focal image or journaling spot. Let’s roll…
8. Double the fun! Play twinsies with your photos &/or supplies. Divide your background in two portions—vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. Include exactly TWO of at least one element on your project. They don’t have to be the same size—but they could be.
9. Jump in: the water’s fine! Use paper or embellishments or diecut shapes that bring refreshing water to mind. Do the wave! Add some fishies or sand stars or shells for fun.
10. Way Back Machine The machine took me back to July, 2019 to this fun challenge posted by hop2 . Be Random - pick a photo at random, without looking, from your phone/digital storage or physical storage & scrap it ( for cards other projects you can use a random stamp set or image you pick without looking )
11. Ooooh… Shiny…. Ultra smooth is a texture, right? Got some of that photorealistic pp that is kinda glossy? You don’t need to use it for your whole project, just use some of it somewhere. Or grab some foiled cs, or use whatever technique you usually use to foil at least one element on your project.
12. Challenge YOURSELF and us! What do YOU want to accomplish, scrapwise, this week? Organize one craft supply? Find your scrappy desk or counter? Put together 4 pages? Or 8 cards? Lazy Crazy Daze of Summer Week ONE
Welcome to July! (I know it is a day away, but I need to post this now before things get really busy around here). Each week for the next couple of months, I will be posting a list of prompts for your papercrafting fun. Something to tickle your creative fancy. I hope this keeps me motivated to make the cards I need and put together the pages I want to do. And you are invited to join me. No pressure. No points. Just have some fun. Create some pretty things. Share them here in this thread.
I have a bunch of masculine cards to make this month, and am inspired by this cool Fathers’ Day card by lisacharlotte . Love the darker shades of blue with the pops of bright yellow.
2. Show your colours! This week at least two countries I know will be having patriotic celebrations. Be inspired by the colours in your nation’s FLAG. Create a card or LO that uses
predominently those colours.
3. Oh Snap! (photo challenge) ZERO IN! With your phone or camera, snap at least five photos this week that zoom in on the small details. Your summer pedicure (or winter footwear), a bird in your yard, the weaving pattern in a rug, anything that catches your eye. The five pic’s can be different angles of the same object or scene, or completely unrelated to each other. Please share your photos in this thread.
4. We’ve got CLASS! I always love looking at pages and cards that have outlines of images or letters filled in with different colours/designs. I like this Cathy Zielke’s card tutorial where she used dies and inks to get this effect, but I can see how I might be able to use the same technique with a Silhouette title word and different patterned papers on a page. Or I might be able to use the same technique she does to create a panel for a page instead of a card. What do you think YOU could come up with using this technique?
5. I can see CLEARLY now! Use something transparent on your project. It could be acetate—maybe a window or shaker element topping, or maybe an acetate diecut. It might be a coating of clear liquid glue to give an element a bit of depth or shine.
6. Theme: for Week # ONE I am going to refer you to the theme in the July Donna Challenge: Up in the Air! Think about travel flights, or kite flying, or even anything that is in progress right now and all the details are not yet nailed down. More details in that challenge thread.
7. Stars &/or Stripes. Going with the patriotic theme, use stars &/or stripes somehow on your project. Doesn’t need to be a flag, but could be. Any colour and any arrangement of the stars or stripes works.
8. We’re number ONE! Focus on one of something. If you are putting together a page, use one photo. If you are creating a card, use a one word greeting. Or go monochromatic.
9. Fireworks! Use a starburst pattern in some way. Stencil it onto your background; use pp with rays emanating from some point on the paper. Make it even more dramatic with a black or navy background and brightly coloured rays or bursts.
10. Way Back Machine For our enjoyment and fun, I am pulling up a challenge set by DawnMcD back in July of 2018: July Challenge #12: Flip FLop it - for this challenge take one of your layouts as inspiration and flip it 180 degrees and create a new layout based on it. Please share (or describe) both LO’s.
11. Sand between my toes. This does not have to be a page or a card with a beachy scene. It just needs to have something gritty like sand on it. Could be--some of you will shudder—applying loose glitter to some liquid glue on the surface. Or you could use one of the gritty pastes that are on the market—Luna Paste anyone? Maybe a paper or other element with the grit/glitter built in?
*Organize your photos for printing
*Back up digi pic's.
*Christmas in July.
*Finish classes that you started
13. BAKERS’ DOZEN. Can you cram ALL of this dozen challenges into one project? Hmmmm?
