It's been probably a little over a year since I have purchased any scrapbook supplies. I enjoy looking through ACOT's pre-order section to get an idea of what's coming up. This morning I saw the Farmstead Harvest collection from American Crafts and I was really excited. I added several pieces of that and some other things to my cart. In total it was 20 sheets of paper and two packs of Thickers. My order total was $33. Then I saw a shipping fee of $39. I am shocked! Is that what you all are paying for shipping?
I admit that back in the day when I was buying supplies more often I typically ordered from scrapbook.com because they charged quite a bit less for shipping. But last year I did an ACOT order and I just looked it up and I paid $13 for shipping on a $50 order. What is up with the shipping costing as much as the product???

Sounds like an error. I’ve never paid more than 10-15 dollars to ship from them.

Yesterday I placed an order that included two paper pads and my shipping fee was $11.95.
If you're in the US and your shipping fee is $39 you should call customer service.

Shipping to CA is less than $12 for 15 items mostly 12x12 paper.

I'm in California, I believe their warehouse is in Arizona. So it shouldn't cost that much. As a comparison I just added 20 sheets of paper and two thickers to a scrapbook.com cart and the shipping fee was $8.

I use them as my last choice because SB.com is a little cheaper to ship.

Edit- to answer the OP question, I placed an order of over $100 with ACOT yesterday and shipping was under $12.

I agree that it was a mistake. Shipping for my three most recent orders from ACOT were 11.95, 4.99, and 15.03.

I only shop ACOT and then small companies. Sometimes I place a studio calico order.
I always either pre-order to get the 20% off or wait until they have some sort of sale (as they run sales a lot).
I've never had such a high shipping cost.
They have great customer service.

I placed an order earlier today and 2 day fed ex was $11.95. For 2 day, and 38 items (mostly paper) that is a good price. ETA, southern California

There are multiple shipping options, maybe the default shipping option in your cart was a more expensive one? When you expand shipping when you're checking out, you should see different options. The cheapest option for me for a pre-order of Shimelle & Bella Blvd papers & embellishments is $12.95 and the most expensive was over $100 for next day air express. ETA: I'm in the Bay Area, California.

Well if I were to ship the package from Michigan to CA it would be $24.68. So ACOT is $12.73 cheaper.

Yes, it is not giving me shipping options to choose from. It only lists priority shipping. Which I really don't need. I don't actually need any of this at all so I will wait for it to come off pre-order status and see what happens.
Just for kicks I went to USPS.com and set up a shipment to ACOT's address using the priority mail flat rate medium box option they used to send my orders in. It would cost me $14.75. I can understand marking up shipping a bit but to mark it up nearly $25 is a bit crazy. If and when I decide to order I will email customer service first.

I try to do the pre-order for the 20% off or wait for free shipping but when I do pay for shipping, I’ve never paid more than $9. I’m in St. Louis

chaosisapony did you see this code? "Use code ACOTSHIP to receive free standard domestic shipping on any purchase of $69 or more, or to receive $5.99 flat rate domestic shipping with an order of any size. Required purchase amount does not include gift cards, Cherry Box subscriptions, taxes, or shipping costs, and is calculated after all product discounts and redeemed points have been applied. Maximum shipping discount is $20. MAY NOT BE COMBINED WITH OTHER PROMO CODES. Valid for a limited time only."

Hi, sorry for the frustration, that definitely sounds like a mistake - there are a couple of ship methods we mark up between 50 cents and $1 to help cover packaging, but otherwise we charge the actual rate that the carrier charges us. It’s possible one of the items in your order has an incorrect weight or dimensions that makes us think it’s going to cost a lot to ship. If you’d like to PM me your email or order number (bottom left at checkout), I’d be happy to take a look and see what’s going on.

I have never ordered from acot, but was going to preorder Shimelle’s collection this morning. Then I saw the shipping charge. Over $15 (I’m in CA). The shipping fee would be more than the preorder 20% discount.
I decided to wait until sb.com gets it.

A cherry on top is my favorite. I try to order when I meet the minimum amount for free shipping, or I order when they do one of the surprise "today only free shipping on any order". I like to support them, because Rachel and Jessica are always doing free tutorials, and they always make such cute layouts and other things.
I like scrapbook.com but I think their shipping is high. I wait until I meet the minimum for free shipping.

Then I saw the shipping charge. Over $15 (I’m in CA). The shipping fee would be more than the preorder 20% discount. I like to play "what can I remove from or add to my cart to make the 20% discount cover shipping?" game. I stuff I've added and removed from the preorders have made it so the 20% off gets shipping covered plus a little extra. I'm fully aware not everyone would want to play that game. 😂 For an Aug delivery pre order the only option was USPS Priority 2-3 day. Ah, I didn't know that sometimes there's only one or two options. Thanks for the heads up!

I tend to play its cousin when I have to pay for shipping. “What more can I add before shipping goes up again?”

I rarely do, because every time I order 12x12 paper it is damaged. They just do not package it properly. I will order from them but only if my order will not include paper, and then usually only if scrapbooks.com does not have the item.
To be fair, every time I have brought it to their attention they have tried to make it right by sending new paper, however they send it the same way they sent the first pack lol. I just gave up.
I have never had an issue with their shipping charges however.

I've never had a problem with ACOT. I always buy at least $100 at a time and I use shipping codes though, so shipping is never that much. I rarely do, because every time I order 12x12 paper it is damaged. They just do not package it properly. I will order from them but only if my order will not include paper, and then usually only if scrapbooks.com does not have the item. I've never had a problem with their packaging and I've probably placed over 20 orders with them. Again, I buy a lot at a time so maybe the sheer amount of paper helps keep it from being bent.

I've never had any bent paper issues either. The paper is always backed with a piece of cardboard and in a big ziploc type bag, with tape around it....to keep it sturdy. The only issue I had one time about a year ago, was their staff member Clint was a complete jerk to me. I've ordered from them for many years, so I not letting one horrible customer service experience by one rude staff member, affect my shopping with them. Matt, Rachel, Jessica and James are great examples of their awesome customer service, so I let that over-rule the one horrible experience.

I just received an order from ACOT and the paper was bent. Packaged exactly as described above, cardboard insert and in a big envelope. It even says ‘do not bend’ but I’ve found that the USPS can and will bend. The cardboard insert has a crease right down the middle, so I’m sure it happened en route. Granted I only bought 5 or so 12x12 papers and page protectors, so the envelope was light.
