so glad it was foiled. Hopefully they will stay safe because, unfortunately, being in prison doesn't make it impossible to hire someone else.

So glad the moron 'hired' an officer & not a true assassin. Scary to think how this could have turned out differently!

That is really scary! I can't imagine how I would feel knowing someone had contracted that...for me!

That is crazy scary!!!
My son has a friend whose dad was always pretty sketchy. Always a different car, looked different every single time we saw him, and would act real nervous if someone who also looked sketchy walked by.
Well, about a month ago I was watching the news and they showed his picture. He was a hired hit man!!!! Only, he worked for the government. He was undercover. That is why he always looked different.
He now has a different job within the agency and has been transferred to a different state. The stories he tells is amazing! He says it is so much more common than you would think.

That is scary. You see things like this on the t.v. or in the movies but never think about it really happening to someone you know. Im glad your BIL and his GF are safe!

It does seem strange that some of us have known of this type thing happening. The druggie brother of someone I once worked with in OR was murdered in Calif. The grandson of another person I worked with, in NM, was supposed to be killed when he tried to withdraw from the dealer pipeline. But they killed his wife instead and he was only injured. Supposedly someone in the drug community came to the hospital and apologized to him for the unintended death of his wife.

I can't imagine the pain the man went through when his wife was murdered instead of him. Was the murderer prosecuted?

Yikes! I'm glad it was discovered before it could be carried out! You want to know what's really crazy? My BIL (my DH's brother), learned his wife had hired her drug dealer (she had a long history of on and off drug abuse) to kill him. He found out when detectives reached out the night before they planned to arrest her. The intended hit man recognized a good "get out of jail free" card when he saw one, and went directly to the police right after she first approached him. He was wired 2 or 3 times and she was on tape setting up and confirming the "deal." The deal was some percoset tablets, $45 to purchase a gun and $5K when she got the life insurance check. So, yeah crazy, right? She's in jail, right? Nope! After letting her sit in jail for a month, he hired a lawyer for her, went to court and begged the judge to release her on bond/bail/ROR (not sure which). And the judge DID!! She was released and went home to the man she tried to have killed and their two kids (ages 5 and 9 at the time). 2.5 months later, she pled guilty at her trial. She was given 3 years suspended sentence and 5 years probation. They lived together another 8 or 9 years (rumor was she tried to kill him again with a rerouted dryer gas line fed into their bedroom where she was no longer sleeping). It was front page news, all the local tv channels were reporting from their front yard. It was absolutely bizarre. Yet, at the same time, considering the people involved? Totally not surprising at all. They deserved each other. What a crazy story!
