1) if you don’t post a picture-it May or may not have happen BUT “this thread is useless without a Picture” 2) if you don’t know what to bring to a potluck, dinner or other occasion, always ask te peas! 3) if you don’t like the peas, you can always “hair flip on the way out”

1. I bought myself a weighted blanket after hearing so many on the board rave about them and I loved it. 2. Two weeks ago I had a gum graft and prior to it I did a search on the board and was fully prepared for it thanks to everyone’s experiences. 3. A simple question can turn into 20 page debate that can keep you up far into the night.

We might fight like cats and dogs, but woe betide the outsider that hurts one of us. The entire group rallies around the hurt pea and we're fiercely supportive of the injured party.

IA/IL and definitely heard of shredded chicken sandwiches! Though we would call them pulled chicken, like pulled pork. MN and we call it pulled chicken here too. Okay, I have heard of pulled chicken and i kind of wondered if that is what it was. But I wouldn't say pulled chicken is a huge thing around here either.

Having been raised in a home where conflict was a no-no, I learned how to argue on 2peas. I also learned about those giant homecoming mums in Texas (I had NO idea) and I learned you can poke the ends of an aluminum foil box in to keep the roll in place.
I do need to know more about how to shred chicken with a Kitchenaid.

Peas are huge enablers re all the things. Peas share great ideas for Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers. One particular pea tends to be a know it all and her never ending advice leans more to mothering/smothering. She is the reason I learned about blocking.

I don't want to repeat what other have said. But I will add I learned there are spots on the end of foil and saran wraps that you push in to secure the roll in place.

I can't think of anyone in particular off the top of my head that this fits... I'm dying of curiosity 🤔😀

Michigan born/raised and still living here. I have not heard of shredded chicken sandwiches... IA/IL and definitely heard of shredded chicken sandwiches! Though we would call them pulled chicken, like pulled pork. Shredded chicken sandwiches are different than pulled chicken. It’s chicken that’s been shredded and combined with cream of chicken soup (the flavor of the cream of soup might vary from person to person) and, oddly, crushed butter crackers and then whatever seasoning you want to add.

Calling the name of everyone who ever lived in Iowa. 🤣🤣 PS i might have to try this...I bet DH and his mom would love it. I might too.

They can be kind of bland depending on who is seasoning them. They tend to make an appearance at large group events and concession stands as it’s pretty easy to make a crockpot full of the meat mixture.

Weirdos. 🙃

Helping peas with cheating husbands, kids' education from preschool through college, book recs, KA shredded chicken, recipes and Christmas gift ideas. For the past 22 years, minus the year I couldn't find the Refugees after the great closure, I buy gifts and my family knows it was a two peas suggestion.
What a wonderful diverse group of women with a few men thrown in.

We have cooked boston butts, removed the fat an bones and shred they way your family likes it. You can shred it right out of pot or grill.

I still don't understand why anyone feels the need to shred the meat. I have had pulled pork sandwiches and my response is that it would have tasted the same if my SIL had sliced the pork and put on the bun. Why go through all those extra steps?

For me, it's for BBQ sauce, which sticks better to the shreds and the meat is easier to eat instead of a big piece. Kind of like why there is spaghetti instead of a big slab of pasta.

Nope, it isn't a pulled chicken sandwich. It is shredded chicken, with cream of chicken soup (or something like that) and Stove Top stuffing or a sleeve of crackers.

A pea rekindled my love of crochet, I learnt when I was a child, the only patterns were dated even then. So, I stopped for a very long time. Then someone posted a wonderful colourful blanket that I fell in love with(and then made) and now, many years and many projects later I still get great joy from crochet.
Allowed me to share experiences beyond my immediate family, friends and location.
Jello dishes were a thing and should not be allowed to become a thing again!

IA/IL and definitely heard of shredded chicken sandwiches! Though we would call them pulled chicken, like pulled pork. MN and we call it pulled chicken here too. Nebraska and it’s pulled chicken here, too! But my grandma from northwestern IA made hot shredded chicken sandwiches that were the best! So now I make those, too! Like chicken salad with a slice of cheese on a bun and baked in foil in the oven. Amazing! I’ve learned so many things here that are so smart/silly/funny/crazy and all the other words! This place is great! ETA: Ok, replied too soon! I’m definitely going to try this shredded chicken sandwich! Sounds good. I haven’t heard of these before!

I’ve never heard of this version. I’m not a huge fan of creamed soup recipes in general due to the myriad variations of “hot dish” that my mom cooked growing up, so I think I’m going to pass on this one. My DH loves this kind of thing so I won’t be mentioning it either, LOL. I like pulled chicken and pulled pork though.

I can’t really pick 3 specific things as there are so many things I have learned about or been introduced to that I would have never known, seen or heard about from my little IRL world.
1. Tones and intent can easily be misconstrued when typing responses, even when using a bazillion emojis. 😉😆
2. There are many different words used for the same product or item depending on where you live. Examples: Toques to me are Beanies to others. Creemees for me is soft serve for others. And the list goes on and on.
3. Never expect innocuous threads, posts, or thoughts to actually be innocuous because there is bound to be someone who can and will take issue with them…but if you actually read and keep an open mind you can learn so much about different perspectives based on the very different lives of people including their regions, countries and life’s challenges.
Bonus - When you ask for opinions on a message board be prepared because you will get them and often with no mincing of words or dialed back feelings/emotions. Responses will/can include extremes one way or another along with the middle of the road. Learning that words you never thought to be offensive can often be offensive. All of these lead me to know that often threads on the NSBR board are not for the oversensitive…pick and chose wisely what you want to read or be exposed to and there is no reason to feel like you need to open or read every type of thread. And lastly that NO is a complete sentence.

1 - I AM worth it. I found my self confidence & self worth from the ladies here, their kindness, their support have helped me 2- I come here when I feel like humanity sucks & there’s always a pea to show me there’s still hope. 3-The other point of view that I didn’t consider or think of from my little bubble of life experiences. Seeing things from multiple directions and thru others experiences has broadened my mind and made me a better person 4- recipes - lots of them

I much prefer shredded pork/chicken to sliced any day.

Here's my variation on shredded chicken sandwiches (from Ohio). These have a few more ingredients than some recipes call for, but they're also more moist and flavorful, IMHO.
Shredded Chicken Sandwiches
6 boneless chicken breasts 2 cans Campbells Cream of Chicken Soup 1 can Campbells Cream of Celery Soup 1 c. of chicken broth (reserved from cooking chicken breasts in crock pot) ¾ t poultry seasoning 2 sleeves Ritz WHEAT crackers, crushed Onion and garlic powder Parsley Salt and pepper
Place chicken breasts in crockpot and cover with water. Generously sprinkle parsley, onion and garlic powder atop the water. Add salt and pepper (just a bit). Cook on high for 4 hours. Retain broth in a separate bowl/container. Place cooked chicken into Kitchenaid mixer and use the paddle beater to shred chicken. Set aside.
In a large bowl, mix Cream of Chicken and Cream of Celery soups, 1 cup of reserved chicken broth, poultry seasoning, crushed Ritz crackers until blended. Add most (if not all) of the chicken. If needed, add more chicken broth, salt, pepper, poultry seasoning, onion and garlic powder to taste. Return mixture to crock pot and heat through. Serve on fresh bakery style buns or slider buns.
