Like most people (I think!) my creativity and desire to scrapbook ebbs and flows. I have been scrapbooking and/or cardmaking since 2001... that is a long time!
Thankfully, my creativity doesn't vanish too often, but occasionally I feel stuck and uninspired.
Lately, I have placed several orders with Scrapbook.com (plus orders from Elle's Studio and Paper Person), and I've been watching a ton of scrapbooking videos on Youtube. I am excited to scrapbook! Shopping doesn't always inspire me, but lately, my new products have absolutely inspired me to pull out photos and scrapbook. I also ordered 100 prints from a recent vacation, and I can't wait to get those photos scrapped.
What do you do when your creativity or motivation is stuck in the mud?

I’m basically doing just cards right now. I need to get back to scrapbooking because I have 7 grandkids that I have photos of to scrap for their albums.
I just got the Pinkfresh grab box and am hoping to use some of it soon, but finding large blocks of time is difficult.

When the creativity just isn't there or things are going on that take more of my mental cup, I either just step away, stamp and color with my alcohol markers, or get out and do photo walks.
Being creative in other ways or even working on cards helps me get into a better flow.
But sometimes, things are just going the wrong direction and so I just take a break. I don't even watch videos. I just take a break.
All of these things help!

Sometimes the videos get my fingers itching to try new materials and techniques. Other times they overwhelm me. I will start something and then quit because it is not turning out anywhere near the way I want it to.
Ironically, when I have no time to scrap the ideas pop and flow, yet when I have the opportunity to get back into it I have nada...
I may just walk away, hoping MOJO returns another day. But often actually scrapbooking revives my drive to do it, so I will choose to put together a simple LO. No expectations. Just get it finished. If I love it, I am on my way to creating more pages. If I don't, I will let it lie out on the counter overnight. Often by morning I have new enthusiasm and can not only finish that LO but several more.

The end result is what inspires me. Having completed scrapbooks, that are filled with so many memories.
I love looking through my scrapbooks. Especially now, when they days and years seem to pass by so quickly. Especially now, when sometimes I *feel like* I haven't done so much throughout my life, my scrapbooks remind me otherwise. Especially now, time passes and things-memories-moments get forgotten or left in yesteryear. Especially now, when some people are no longer here.
My scrapbooks are full of so many memories, I am grateful to have them.
My scrapbook productivity ebbs and flows. It will get done, when it gets done.

Having good photos (and a variety of photos) inspires me to scrapbook. I was just putting layouts into an album and I realized that in 2021 I did an amazing job of capturing everyday photos and my album is a really complete picture of the year--I love it. The last couple of years I have been pretty slack on taking photos. Not surprisingly, this has put a bit of a cramp in what I actually have to scrap.

Photos inspire me and new supplies inspire me.
I just got my photos back from vacation and I scrapped 6 layouts yesterday. I loved scrapping them.
I love new product, too. I tend to scrap with NJFB or a newer purchase immediately and then later dig back into my old stash. I do use my old stash a lot but I'm always kickstarted by the new stuff.

I don't do anything. It happens when it happens. Last night I randomly came across a Shimelle live (not live anymore) and she made a LO with a cut-apart background. I was watching and thinking how busy the background was. When she finished it was still a little busy for my taste, but she inspried me to go find something in my stash to try it! I'm am doing that today, but still gonna use a little less busy cut-aparts.

When I’m not feeling it, I just take a break until I’m ready to scrap again. I’ve been a huge slump this year but I signed up for Vicki Bouton’s latest workshop. I’m still working through it and it has me a little excited to make pages with pictures.

New supplies and photos get me motivated to scrap. Too many new photos can overwhelm me sometimes, though. If I’m not motivated watching scrappy videos can help.
